Read here everyday don't post much but I keep seeing people worrying over Antonio's status at workouts.. He was banged up during the year & is not 100 % medically.. Hear it's nothing that will keep him off the field come summer but that's why he hasn't been at workouts.. GMG8 points

Apologies to those involved, but I fear it's time to come clean. Here goes... "Andrew" is in fact a collaborative writing project / tontine between myself, Quoner, TheTastyGreek, Cerberus, CMJ, GreenP1, UNT90, LoveMG, TulsaFaninTexas and...remarkably...FireFightnRick, to provide us all a creative outlet for our frustrations at the current state of the basketball program and it's inept leader. The premise was simple. We'd all have access to "Andrew" to opine inane, ridiculous and often unintelligible posts in someway related to basketball. We derived a far too complicated scoring system to get into here. To make things even more interesting, we all kicked $10,000 each into a high-yield tontine to be paid to the author with the highest score once "Andrew" was deemed "dead" (read: Benford fired). The bit worked beautifully at first...raising the ire of those unaware and keeping traffic high in the basketball forum despite the lousy product on the court. It produced some memorable gems of "basketball insight" (the 2-3 zone bit? FFR's line! stroke of genius, sir). Hell, often some of us authors would argue quite literally with ourselves...writing under both "Andrew" and our usual screen names simultaneously (I'll tell you...sometimes even after you wrote as "Andrew" you were often left astounded at the words you wrote). A problem has arisen of late, though. Two authors have already been murdered and I myself can no longer log in as "Andrew". I have not as of yet determined whether this is the act of one author greedily pursuing the tontine for himself as it becomes readily apparent that Benford is not likely soon fired, or...worse...if "Andrew" has gone all HAL 9000 and has developed his own mindfulness and state of being. Either way, I fear for my life. One thing is certain...whatever Andrew writes should not be at all trusted. I mean...even more so now.3 points

The line was UNT +48 that day. I was I was in Vegas and put $50 on UNT. When I got my fund raiser letter from the school I sent them the ticket.3 points

I call BS on this. Are we to believe that all of you were able to come up with $10k for a stupid gmg.com bet, but NONE OF YOU COULD MUSTER 500(or whatever it was) REAL AMERICAN DOLLARS when Kram challenged us to raise money for either the Benford buyout fund OR the scrappy redo project?!!?! Whose side are you bastards on and where are your damn priorities?!?!3 points

Exactly. It's too bad we don't have a FB page to monitor the daily productivity of all GMG members.3 points

UNT had 2 of the top five spots. Anyone care to guess who abs where they placed? Hey, any pub is good pub, right? Let's just thank God they didn't wait till after the current basketball season to make this list, otherwise it coulda been 3 of 5.2 points

I'd never have a problem with an Olympian getting a cake with the Olympic Rings on it. No offense (I love NT as much as anybody), but that's the biggest stage in sports.2 points

New Union?! I was at NTSU when they were building the current one which was then state of the art.2 points

The things you have to remember about Trilli are that he did not inherit the team that Benford did and played a much more difficult schedule in his first couple of years. He played the most difficult oc schedule in the nation with a very young team. NT cancelled all games with old Southland teams and scheduled no non-division 1 teams and seldom played any OC home games. I think what Trilli did to the team he inherited was as bad as anything any coach has ever done at NT. He booted everybody out but a couple of players after they played as hard as any team for him in the first year. Trilli unlike Benford had been a successful coach at a lower level. It was Trilli's fault, but he apparently bought in to the Helwig idea of magically transforming the team to an elite one by playing only the best. Despite what many seem to think, there wasn't a lot of talent on those early Trilli's teams. Chris Davis who was injured during his early career was an exceptional player, but there was no one close to him other than Erskin; who at 6'4 played the 4. After Trilli's start; he almost literally couldn't give scholarships away and even with a greatly weakened schedule; there was no way he could have ever been successful. Trilli was a better offensive coach and Benford much better on the defensive end, but debating who was the worse is fruitless. Both should have been gone much earlier and I hope Benford is not allowed to waste more years that NT could use to build a program.2 points

Nah. It was the player's fault. I'm sure.2 points

Trilli should have been higher than #5. I still think he was worse than Dodge.2 points
-
However, Trilli inherited a team that had been right around .500 for years (unlike Benford who came into a solid foundation) that had just moved into a new league where practically every road swing was a thousand miles (one way). Our OOC scheduling was insane, at least for the first couple of years. He was entering a tougher situation than Benford was. I still think Trilli was worse though.2 points

Niope Vic Trilli checked in at #5, with a discussion of the 74 point loss to Maryland discussed (apperantly Rich Philkips issued the line "damn, I had Maryland minus 75") Todd Dodge checked in at #3 with the discussion that his coaching record was the 6th worst winning percentage in NCAA history. George was just so beat down. For those that care, #2 was the imfamous one game wonder Eddie Stankty. The top prize went to announcer turned head Mavs coach Quinn Buckner, who holds the worst record of any rookie NBA coach that completed at least one season.2 points

I would say it is in the DNA of our alumni too. Expect a top flight, well funded program when MGC membership is woefully low.2 points

While we're all coming clean I have a confession to make too. I am Cougar King...and Correcamino. After failing out of North Texas and being banned from campus (I still maintain that the girl in my kinesiology class WANTED me to call her 58 times and hang up) I had to come up with some way to get back at all of you. So I came up with the most ridiculous troll handles I could (thanks to the help of my life partner Michael Sam who does half of the Correcamino posts). All of you have been fun to draw offsides, but especially UNT90. He never realized it, but everything I've done has been in furtherance of my troll agenda. A lot of people say you're born to troll message boards...he knows that it's a choice. My name isn't even actually Emmitt. It's Dylon and I spit hot fire on here. Top five trolls of all time...Dylon, Dylon, Dylon, Dylon, Dylon.2 points

You kind of have to look at both sides here. On the one hand, you have an older man named Jeff acting out, but by all accounts he was a nice guy - just way too into sports for someone his age. He was an air traffic controller, which is not just some job of the streets, so he understands professionalism and how he should act. However, when his favorite team got involved, it was like he had an entirely different identity that took over and was just negative all the time about everything - and hostile and malicious. It really didn't add up to those who knew him best because this version of him that loves TT was just so different than regular, mild-mannered, every day Jeff. On the other hand, you have a great kid from the area who was known for being a pretty nice guy. Very talented and involved, and made the choice to be loyal to Oklahoma State. He even showed his Cowboy loyalty by staying an extra year, but has found himself more frustrated and angry than in the past. Finally, someone makes him just snap and he takes it out on chairs and ultimately makes the decision to make it a personal confrontation. Making it personal has blown up in his face, as he is now suspended from doing the one thing he loved to do. Tough to see that Cowboy on the sidelines - especially since his suspension seems to be a lot longer than some expected. I don't know - hard to pick a side here. Interesting stuff for sure.2 points

If we're going to come clean, then I should admit something. I am actually Ramon Flanigan. This started as a way for me to yell at you idiot fans without having to fight anyone in the stands. If you think about it, this makes sense. I was an admin since 2000, but only a few other well known trolls like Harry, silvereagle, and emmitt ever claimed to have met me. With my new duties as the head coach at Lincoln University, I will no longer have time to post. Besides,I have to troll at goLincolnLions.com now. PS: silver and I are great friends, and the incident I the stands was staged because we were trying to make America's funniest home videos, but our tape was rejected. Bob Saget is a hack.1 point

This is DW''s job to lose, as I have been saying. Coach Canales sent me a response on twitter months ago when I was asking him about DW. His response alone told me everything I needed to know about the QB competition. A WR also talked to me about DW. He told me that he is learning and if he can learn the system he will be really, really special. IMO, if DW can step up this off season and mature mentally and physically then he will run away with the job.1 point

Yeah, let's continue to beat him up the rest of his career for 3 bad days in the weight room.1 point

“I just welcome the competition,” Williams said. “Whatever they can do, I can do better. That’s how I look at it.” Except in the weight room. Where you work on getting bigger and stronger......and therefore less prone to injuries.1 point

So I sat next to Ryan Walter's father-in-law waiting for a flight back from Denver yesterday (he saw my UNT sweatshirt and started talking to me). He told me he was going to Memphis and I thought I had missed some piece of news...guess I was ahead of the game and didn't know it. His F-I-L had great things to say about Coach Mac.1 point
