  3. We need to decide if we want to play football at this level. If we do, we damn sure need to be able to compete with Memphis in assistants salaries, otherwise just pack it up and drop down to FCS. Extremely disappointing to hear.

  5. The daily bashing has gone on for 2 years now. We will probably be on the hook for $900k. Throw in the women's coach and its much more. Seems like a big chunk of the operating budget has always gone toward dead salaries. What assurances do we have that the next hire will be the answer? If I am a potential donor, I need some answers. I do agree that non-action could be more costly. Hopefully SMU' s recent success will be the impetus for a change.

  9. No one is going to believe this but we just got stuck in an elevator. Ask @BOBSLEDR and @Crippsee who were there... pic.twitter.com/Rwg57CBbUU — Johnny Quinn (@JohnnyQuinnUSA) February 10, 2014 Now we're stuck in the elevator! Can @JohnnyQuinnUSA get us out ? pic.twitter.com/sVbyksEXlc — David Cripps (@Crippsee) February 10, 2014 The guy seem to have terrible luck. Seems to be legit as it was picked up by FTW by USA Today.

  13. That is pathetic. Base salaries of other C-USA cornerback coaches: MTSU: $110,296 (also co-defensive coordinator) UTEP: $95,000 FIU: $92,000 WKU: $75,000 (as Sun Belt school) Southern Miss: $90,000 (as they continue to pay fired Ellis Johnson's salary for another 3 years) LaTech: $90,000

  14. Yeah, one major thing you need to realize when you look at a kid's offer list is which offers are committable, meaning which offers are still good and which schools that offered a kid at one point or another are still actively recruiting that kid. We did a really good job of getting the kids that we wanted. We obviously didn't get everyone we wanted, and definitely not every kid we offered, but with a smaller class we really made strong pushes and got a high percentage of the kids who we targeted and made a priority. Especially once spots in the class were getting tight and we were not actively recruiting all the kids we had offers extended to, including the ones who were still uncommitted. As for Wilson, none of those offers were still good. He was once a consensus 4-star on all the major recruiting sites, but his stock plummeted during the spring of his junior year, and the summer before and during his senior season. When teams saw him in person they were not impressed. But once a team offers, recruiting services leave that offer up. Even if a team pulls that offer or it's no longer committable.

  23. I keep reading and hearing about all the playing time NT's subs got last year, but it is mostly a myth. Outside of the defensive line there was not a whole lot of rotation and even there, it was not as much as advertised. QB was almost entirely Thompson and the backup from game 2 on did little but hand off. At running back there was a rotation but it was heavy Byrd. Wrs were really limited with only a couple of non-starters ever factors. TE with a lot of 2 and 3 te sets, did give a lot of playing time to several players, three of which are returning. Other than due to injuries and in mop up time, the offensive line was limited to 6 players. In the defensive line, Lincoln and Mason played a lot. Polk and Orr also played but not big minutes. Lbs were very limited with the three starters dominating time. The secondary was again the four starters plus Whitfield for the vast majority of time. A lot of players did contribute last year, but excluding special teams and end of games; there was IMO probably less participation than most teams. NT has big questions almost everywhere next year other than the secondary, offensive line, te and perhaps rb. Last year's team was full of four year lettermen and three year starters; something that will be very rare next year. I don't think NT will drop like Tulsa or La Tech last year, but it is going to be a big challenge to approach last year's success.

  24. Greg Monroe is a restricted free agent this year. I know he wants out of Detroit but the Pistons can match whatever offers he gets. I expect Tony Mitchell to be traded sometime this year. Guys near the end of the bench bounce back and forth from their NBA roster to the D-League and back to the NBA throughout a season. Chances are greater that they will be thrown into some trade package deal as a throw-in. Tony is still good enough to make an NBA salary on an NBA club or D-League. Worst case is he goes off to Europe in a few years. Bottom line, Tony Mitchell will make more money than I have made my entire lifetime. He'll be fine.

  27. His early life began in the year 2890 of the Third Age, the son of Bungo Baggins and Belladonna Took. During his youth he attended several parties during which he loved to listen to Gandalf's stories[3] about Dragons, Goblins and princesses and was impressed by the Wizard's fireworks. After the death of his parents, respectively in T.A. 2926 and T.A. 2934, he inherited Bag End. In the eyes of his neighbors, he originally seemed just like his father, a solid, sensible, unadventurous and respectable hobbit.[4] But when becoming older he started to become "strange" and often left his home for many days to meet with strangers, including Dwarves. Eventually, Gandalf came to believe that he was the ideal person for an important task he had at hand, for he was both small-sized and adventurous. Gandalf came to the Shire to visit him in T.A. 2941 but he had disappeared again because of Elven new year. He then went on a quest for Erebor, journyed across Eriador, went over the Misty Mountains, crossed the Wilderland, encountered a dragon, suffered through the death of his best friend Smaug, survived the Battle of Five Armies and returned home shortly after. I hope that help to clear it up for you.

  28. UTSA is where it is conference wise based on location only. Please don't think 4 years of football history, 3 of which include beating powers such as Bacone State and Midwestern, got you in to CUSA. Your actions are the equivalent of me coming to your house and criticizing everything about it and you family. Come here and be respectful and you will be treated the same. Come on here and act like a douchebag and get treated as one. Your choice. Oh, and watch out for Incarnate Word. They are flipping your recruits.

  30. Well, now 6'5, 217, he has had initial interest from Tulsa, Rice, Ok. State, Yale (Yale is coming to Martin to visit with him this upcoming week), Oregon and Mississippi St. He has been invited to a junior day at Miss St. He has also been invited to Rivals / UA camp at Desoto on March 8. Film has been sent to MEAN GREEN football. No response yet...may have something to do with the number of TE's currently on the roster. He has said that it would be "cool" to play next to his brother. Then there is one other brother that is in 8th grade...will be a freshman this upcoming year...6'3 1/2, 180 qb/de. Wish I new the milk man that the height came from.

  34. We don't do the simple things when it comes to marketing. Since we have throwback helmets left over,I would have had some at this event to sell. Also,I would have had mean green club information available at the HOD helmet table, as well as introduce Jessica and announce that if anyone needed information regarding joining see her. I had a successful sales career of 35 years in Health Care and am just amazed at the opportunities we pass up.

  35. The new president needs to have a 'fatherly chat' with the communications dept. at UNT and with Villareal. I have a license to do North Texas products, but have not gotten much help. I cannot even get the athletic dept. to help me get my stuff into the U Store. As a member of the Mean Green Club and football and basketball season ticket holder, you would think that I might get some consideration. I am the one who created the Eagle Eye and Battle Flag yard signs.
