Yep...it wont...and the new coach will be able to better the players, not make them worse...recruiting and coaching is two different things...Dodge could recruit...couldn't coach...5 points

If it makes you guys feel better, you guys are going to whip us in football in the coming years. You guys are trending up, we are trending down. It is cyclical.5 points

I don't think an Internet fundraiser would do it, nor do I think it is necessary. The person who made this failed hire needs to raise the funds to fix it, if he hasn't already. This is not our doing and not our responsibility.4 points

Well, now 6'5, 217, he has had initial interest from Tulsa, Rice, Ok. State, Yale (Yale is coming to Martin to visit with him this upcoming week), Oregon and Mississippi St. He has been invited to a junior day at Miss St. He has also been invited to Rivals / UA camp at Desoto on March 8. Film has been sent to MEAN GREEN football. No response yet...may have something to do with the number of TE's currently on the roster. He has said that it would be "cool" to play next to his brother. Then there is one other brother that is in 8th grade...will be a freshman this upcoming year...6'3 1/2, 180 qb/de. Wish I new the milk man that the height came from.3 points

This is the main reason why Benford is not good long term, to me. As 90 said, you can blame it on the players, but when it's different players every year, where should the blame really fall? Benford is the constant through this all and as long as he's here it's hard to see us ever having the posts we need to really win significantly. Voss is doing a decent job, but he is 6'7" (listed, more like 6'6" in person) and has trouble on defense. But he's the best we have. Obviously, the production from Gaines, Coleman, and Flannigan forces Voss to play heavy minutes, and have to play the 5 often. I also have a hard time believing that Benford's other former commits would be helping out (Arthur Casimiro, Tony Nunn, and Josh Friar). Another great point that is made on here is by CMJ. His point is that if you want to blame the individual games on players, that's cool. But the season is reflective on the coach, at least as much as the players. That's true for the season, and definitely true over the course of multiple seasons, as the roster changes. I'm not personally calling for Benford's head ASAP, but if we keep him after this year we'll need him to replace Chris Jones, Jordan Williams, and TJ Taylor, as well as all of our current posts. As scary as replacing those first three guys is, I'm even more scared about what our front court recruiting will look like. Will we have a player over 6'7" on the roster in two years?3 points

I don't know why everyone is complaining. We're well on our way to at least our 5th and a half moral victory of the year.3 points

Mark probably needed a break from trying to tell others how they should be mean green fans. Your comment about people showing up to games and supporting and things would be different was funny. I immediately thought of the MTSU game. It was a hard fought game, it really was. I left feeling pretty good even though we lost. But, the outcome wasn't unexpected. Fans had nothing to do with the outcome of that game. Then your follow up on consulting players was even sillier. I hope these student athletes are having a great time and getting a great education playing ball for us and are proud to be part of this university. However, any decisions needs to be made with the direction of a program in mind. Not the direction of a couple of players or even an entire team. The time for building teams that can play has evidently passed. Now is as good a time as any to evaluate the direction of a program. I'm glad the players and coaches respect each other, I really am. If that was all it took, I'm sure we'd be in the national championship. But it's not an advantage over other teams. They do that stuff too. The coaches and players that don't shouldn't be working at all or shouldn't be on scholarship as its an indication of a poor leader and poor followers. It's part of the sport in the way that needing a ball or shoes or a hoop is.2 points

It's Kelly Green, not Neon,... or it's suppose to be Kelly? Either way, the Kelly green has been the predominant shade of green for the majority of our history prior to Fry changing it to Apple green. Then we went back to Kelly for another decade before changing to Hunter. The Hunter green had a short life span, maybe 10 years? And that's fine by me because when the team starts sweating the uni's turn dark and that shade isn't a good look on TV. The new Kelly accented with black looks fantastic on TV and gained positive recognition during the bowl games. Rick2 points

Apparently you aren't familiar with how long it took JJ to build this program. God knows you can't see how quickly Benford is dismantling it...2 points

I hate when these arguments on boards start to trash each others academic standing. We are all in college, been in college, or graduated from college. We got into the best school we could, or maybe stayed close to home. Bottom line is we are getting an accredited education in this state. Neither of our schools should be referred to as a high school. I love UNT because I went to school there and was challenged while working hard on my undergrad. Now I am in grad school at UNT working hard and being challenged. Between the two I went to TCU and got a masters, and in no way was it harder or better then UNT. Some of these people are going to UTSA and getting the same thing out of it, that I or we got out of UNT. Fact is that UNT is better because the town it is in is amazing, we have better facilities, and a richer history. UNT is such a great place, no question. There is so many more reason that I am not going to even waste my time typing them. Some of these are just my personal opinion, because of all of us have unique experiences in college. I do believe that my time in college would not have been near as great if I was at UTSA. We should have beat them last year and I can not wait to drive down to San Antonio and beat those mothers down next season.2 points

Yeah!! That damn diversity. Always gets in the way. Finally we agree on something. Diversity sucks and must be overcome!2 points

Well it's weird that in every spot...ever...the best coaches have the best teams. Is that just a coincidence? Yeah, diversity is hard to overcome. Still blaming the 2014 white man I'm sure.2 points

SMU hires a bonafide, proven basketball coach, we take a guy they didn't want. Anyone surprised by the lightening speed at which they have become relevant while we have fallen off the face of the college basketball earth?2 points

I like the comment about going 6-1 before facing Rice. Hell, let's shoot for 7-0 and screw up Strong's debut in Austin. It can happen!2 points

When Hayden Fry, arguably the best football coach NT ever had, went Iowa he changed the entire program from "sox to jocks". On of his first moves was to change the uniforms and branding to closely mirror the Pittsburgh Steelers, the preeminent team in the 70's when he left NTSU for Iowa. What ever happened to the hunter green, when was it replaced with neon green. And the flying worm logo? come on. Let's get ourselves a bad ass eagle on the helmets.1 point

I'm no scientist or doctor, but I did get an A in my Neuropsychopharmacology class at UNT (shout out to Dr. Tam... who apparently identifies himself as a woman now??), and have my BA in Biology. The chemical in cannabis that gets you high (THC) acts on the brain's dopamine neurotransmitters. ANY chemical that has an affect on this pathway has the ability to form a dependency. Period. This is elementary. They don't call it "dope" for nothing. EDIT: Not saying that all people who use it are addicted. There are people who can use any drug recreationally without being addicted. Addiction is a different animal.1 point

Me? Like to argue? On the Internet? Nooooooo. Oh, and 15 years is getting off light. The only good thing about the sentence is that it is Fed time. Pretty much day for day. Can't recall if this was a trial or just a sentencing hearing. If it was a trial, he got off VERY easy. If it was a sentencing hearing, he obviously rolled on a bunch of people to get his time reduced, That's the thing about drug dealers. For all the TV machoism and tough guyedness attributedto them, when it gets dpwn to taking a rap and going to jail, they would literally roll on their own mother.1 point

What is your perfect sentence for a guy with the assets and the motivation to be a drug kingpin, then? 5 years? 10 years? Please, do tell. He was facing life in prison. He got off pretty easy.1 point
