Uh... 73% acceptance rate at UTSA to 59% at UNT. 60% retention rate at UTSA to 79% at UNT. 9% 4-year graduation rate at UTSA to 22% at UNT. 12% of students live on campus at UTSA to 19.3% at UNT. ...these stats are even more impressive because we have a lot more students. UTSA has 8 nationally ranked programs...UNT has 20 nationally ranked programs. UTSA has no top 50 ranked programs...UNT has 5 top 50 ranked programs. UTSA has less of an athletic budget than UNT. Keep in mind those rankings don't include our music and hospitality programs which are some of the best in the country. And our journalism program, the only nationally accredited program in Texas. Shall I go on? We do have a better endowment than you as well. We have similar research numbers (logical, since we are not a science-heavy school historically) and similar acceptance requirements. As do all the schools in Texas. We are way superior academically. It's not even an argument you can argue. Oh, and small school? Really? More students attend UNT than UTSA....... Also, you can't argue professor worth, there's no statistic for that. Although I likely doubt that you have better professors than us.6 points

You finally slipped and pushed the troll bit too hard with the UAH reference, because no one would use arguably the worst loss of the last 8 years as their battle cry and mean it, right?4 points

I'm done fighting this. I simply explain it to my kids that y'all do know that a raptor's claw has four Talons, not three, but its how the new generation does it, and to imagine that the fourth talon is the curled up one ready to spring out. Rick3 points

Don't legitimize the troll. He really isn't even worth a response, people. The mere fact that he is on here in the off season shows how desperate he is for anyone to recognize his craphole program.3 points

I'm not worried about giving a new coach a fair shake. I'm worried about the direction of the program for the next 2 years. I really want to buy season tickets next year. The AD could do something or they could do nothing to make my mind up.2 points

utsa sucks. This dude is an idiot. Someone posted statistical facts stating that North Texas is a better academic institution by a wide margin. Yet this dude gets on here with his jibber jabber with no references except personal opinion. As far as him never hearing about North Texas, that's BS and he knows it. Just remember though, utsa lives under the thumb of UT.2 points

Completely disagree here. You have a former head coach sitting on the staff. While all the assistants have to support Benford publicly, what they think privately may be an entirely different thing. Things would be way different with a different head coach, even if it was an interm from this current staff.2 points

The 2010 class had just one winning season and never won a conference championship. If I could choose which career I could have as a college player, I would take the career of the class of 2000 over the career of the 2010 class.2 points

First off: Stop calling people names. It is childish and counterproductive. Can you not understand that the people on this board are the diehards? This isn't the 1%, It's the .1% Of course people on here are going to drive long distances to go to UNT games, that's what we do. But guess what, 99% of the alumni aren't diehard fans. And if you ever want to sell out Apogee, hell, have to expand it, you have to get the non diehards to come on board. So you traveled to a bunch of football games? Congrats. How many swim team events did you make? How about the best program we have, soccer, did you make the trip to Norman last year to watch NT Soccer cream OU? How about the Texas Legends? They are short drive away, how many minor league basketball games did you make last year? What, none? Because you aren't a fan of them? MOST OF OUR ALUMNI DON'T CARE ABOUT OUR TEAMS! Acting like a bunch of self righteous jerks isn't going to attract them. We need to make these events attractive. Mac and the team are doing their part. Do yours. Don't call alumni who don't make the trip pathetic and call them pussies. Buy them a ticket, offer to host them, go out of your way to make sure they have a great time at the game. They will come back once they see what they are missing. Or, look down your nose at them, just don't drive people away by calling them names, it's the least you can do. PS: Oh, and I am pretty sure you can't brag about being a Mean Green road warrior unless you made a trip to the Kibbie Dome.2 points

1) Great event, great turnout. Well planned clearly and smoothly run. 2) $400 for the bowl helmets priced a guy like me (with twins on the way) out. A great memento though for those with the spare cash 3) anthony Wallace looks like a kid who could step in and step up. He has the build. Mac spoke highly of him. 4) The QB race is WIDE OPEN. Mac made a point to mention that DW wasn't showing the attitude they wanted to see. That's a real shame to me...flashbacks of the Byerly situation where all the tools are there. Mac spoke as if he didn't see Greer as an insurance policy but rather as a real candidate to take the reins. Not surprisingly he laid out his prerequisites for being our starter and said "bus driver" without saying "bus driver". 5) I asked point blank who some names were that they saw stepping in to fill the shoes of the graduated D-linemen and the answer was pretty vague. I attribute a good deal of this to the DL coach being new and a lot also to there really being no clear cut leaders to step in. Mac did say that he wants a rotation of 8-10 guys ("like I had at Florida when we won a national title"). One interesting tidbit is that the new DL coach Kelvin Patrick (sp?) said that this year's guys would be more athletic. 6) All you fashionistas will appreciate this one. RV said the SOW is going to stay so no more "North Texas" on the side. Said we'd see some tweaks but that the green and white jerseys would stand pat. 7) These coaches are eager to get out there on the field NOW. Mac said multiple times that they're preparing to win a ball game in Austin and not just show up. Coach Patrick said "I love to hunt and I plan to do some hunting in Austin". 8) Whoopin SMU's ass was mentioned several times. Both RV and Mac mentioned how they have looked down their noses at us. RV said they tried to get the game moved to the Cotton Bowl and he said no way because he wants them to have to face our crowd. 9) Mac clearly still is pissed that we've never sold out Apogee. I agree. 10) Spring ball is open and Mac encouraged people to come get a peek. Also, he warned the QB's in attendance that they would be live during practice and that they were gonna get lit up. That's al, I can think of off the top of my head.1 point

Yes Bo sat down with Coach's Simmonds and Wintrich for quite a while this past weekend on his visit to watch UNT game film and to show him blocking schemes and play calls. Bo is a typical O-lineman that is a big boy (man) but yes sir/no sir to everything all the time. He is extremely coachable and respectful and will soak up everything like a sponge from the coaches. He loves these two coaches already and has not played a down for them yet. It is a good fit and I believe he will flourish here.1 point

Not quite--Dickey beat them in his last season here, costing SMU and Phil Bennett a bowl bid, as they finished 5-7. The next year, Todd Dodge's team lost a tough one in Dallas, which was Phil Bennett's only win that year, which was his last.1 point

I give their leadership a ton of credit. Hiring Larry Brown to coach at his age, when he hasn't coached college basketball since 1988, and also buying off Jankovich to be the coach-in-wating from his Illinois State head coaching gig took some major boldness and dollars to commit. I get that they have money to throw around down there because of their alumni, but the boldness part, at least for now, is really paying off. Next year, when the AAC loses Louisville, SMU might just be one of the top 4 teams to win that league, with Cincy, Memphis, and UConn. That is incredible to type, much less believe, but it really does make you realize just how dormant their hoops program was under Doherty and the coaches before him. Shocking how much coaching actually matters, huh? (See Brown at SMU and Benford at UNT)1 point

If it's true that we're ditching the "North Texas" from the helmets in favor of SOW, then I am now 173% in favor of naming the [Jerry Jones voice]stadjyum[/Jerry Jones voice] after Rick! If I were young enough (because my wife is always young enough...right?) to have another kid, I'd name it Rick, boy or girl. In fact, all new Mean Green babies should be named Rick, if male, or Rickie/Rikki, if female...or, you aren't Mean Green.1 point

Since Johnny is from McKinney, I'm trying to see if he wants to come to any of the Allen watching parties and bring his pics. We'll see. It'd be good to have a spot where folks could meet him face to face and make donations in person.1 point
