Favorite quote in Vito's story: “I have heard about it,” UNT head coach Tony Benford said. “I just don’t know right now.” It's unclear whether the preceding question was, "Coach Benford, what is defense?"10 points

It's really just payback for the loss UTA would have handed us had we not skipped out on them.6 points

You guys really think anyone should be responsible for a schedule played by 20 YEAR OLD MEN? You want Benny to hold their hands while they play games that should have never been scheduled?5 points

One of these days Andrew is gonna reveal himself to be someone else on the board, and we'll all bow down to the greatest collection of bits since Andy Kaufman.5 points

That's awesome. I am glad to be a part of this school and will soon be joining the long line of great alums.4 points

I don't see how this doesn't happen. NCAA clearly states the rule and we broke it4 points

You seem to view the world from a very, very small window. There are lots of things that make a man a man and never have I heard that watching only urgent news and a few sporting events was one of them. I'd hate to hear what your views are of women and their place in the world ...4 points

I know Xavier is not worried about how he's ranked, becuase those stars don't mean anything when you step out on the field. Play with your heart and not with your stars. But since X is an academic achiever as well, he will take his visits and weigh all his options. No decision has been made. Go Mean Green!!!!!!!!!!4 points

You can't be serious. At this point I'm worried that since we have already played the games, other schools may petition that as punishment we not be allowed to participate in the conference tournament.3 points

Does the North Texas basketball team have an illegal schedule? C-USA wants to know http://t.co/EUFNrK4WXy — SportsDayDFW (@SportsDayDFW) January 14, 2014 Any publicity is good publicity , right ?3 points

Coach Nelson . . . thanks for the work you've done for the North Texas Mean Green. We had what may have been the best D-line in all of C-USA last year, a feat that would have seemed impossible a few years ago. Here's a heartfelt thank you from Mean Green nation, and wishing you all the best!3 points

Well, the new Texas coach still doesn't have a contract and probably won't have one for several more weeks as it's written up. I don't think we're any different from any other school.3 points

Question- Why at other schools do these things get figured out and announced fairly quickly, but we have to wait weeks? I'm guessing it's because we don't have a lot of media covering us trying to break stories ASAP so we have to wait until it's released by the school, which can take awhile.3 points

I got a call today from one of the owners of Denton's INDEPENDENT ALE WORKS...you might recall they were one of the folks participating in this year's OKTOBERFEST Event sponsored by the Denton Chapter of the UNT Alumni Association. He wanted to invite me and all alumni and friends of UNT (and good craft beer of course) to come to the GRAND OPENING of INDEPENDENT ALE WORKS Tasting Room on SATURDAY, January 25th. Event kicks off at NOON that Saturday and runs all day until 8:00PM. I was told there would be some great ales and beers (5-6 varieties) to sample in the newly opened tasting room along with live music and lots of other fun! Independent Ale Works is located at 11555 US Hwy 380 West (3209) in Krum, Texas. Well, Krum is the post office for the location! :-) Might have a bit more info in a day or two, but this should be great fun. The owners are great guys and big time beer lovers. David Miller and Stefen Windham own Independent Ale Works and would love to see a big crowd at their GRAND OPENING event on the 25th! Just like Bobby Mullins and Yianni Arestis of Armadillo Ale Works, another couple of great local guys, who have supported our Alumni events, Independent Ale has as well. Come on out and enjoy the fun and help Denton become a craft beer destination! See you there!2 points

Yeah, Emmitt and I were there to see it live. We both were blown away with his motor, chasing backs from sideline to sideline, beating double teams. He's the real thing. If we get him this class will be incredible. Rick2 points

http://www.conferenceusa.com/sports/m-footbl/spec-rel/011414aab.html NORTH TEXAS MEAN GREEN The Mean Green closed out a memorable season with a 36-14 win over UNLV in the Heart of Dallas Bowl on New Year's Day. The victory gave North Texas a final record of 9-4, its highest win total since 2002. Senior QB Derek Thompson completed 21-of-30 passes for 256 yards and two touchdowns to earn the game's Most Valuable Player award. The Mean Green led the nation in blocked punts (5) and blocked kicks (8) this season. North Texas had 39 quarterback sacks this year, which is more than any Mean Green team since 2002. The 39 sacks is tied for second on the school's single-season records list. North Texas led C-USA in scoring defense (17.8) and palced second in total defense (348.7 yards per game)2 points

As mentioned in the other thread, he measured almost 6'4" in shoes. So he's surely 6'2" bare minimum.2 points

so the 4 receiver recruits have 262 catches for 4767 yards and 65 touchdowns... i'll take that ANY DAY!!!2 points

I think the Pedestrian Bridge will come in handy for those who will also be coming to conventions in Denton. It's really not that far a walk from that side of the interstate. I am more concerned with the need for more roads in and out of the Mean Green Village on Game Days because once we start filling that stadium getting in and out is going to be a pain in the butt. Good news! Just got the word that Miller of Denton is going to be donating some "adult beverages" for our event. Really appreciate the help from the good folks at Miller Beer! Also...just heard from Coach Peterson at the radio show tonight that one of the coaches will be available at noon...so get here on time....to provide us a scouting report. So, double good news. Going to be fun...hot dogs, chips, popcorn, sodas and "adult beverages"... And UNT basketball! What's not to like? Event is free and open to one and all. Come by before Saturday's game and enjoy some Mean Green fun!2 points

Yes, Richard, I guess so...but the point is trying to get some new folks to the game who might not be donors to the MGC or at the level required. You know, there is not a time when something doesn't conflict with something else on the UNT campus. There might even be an Oboe Recital around campus at the same time. Really sorry if the efforts we make in support of UNT conflict with something from time to time. It's all good and all support UNT. Bringing more folks to the table that is UNT is not bad...at least in my opinion. In this case...our event will be free...including the refreshments. Just trying to show a bit of support for the ladies. Would love to have you come by for the event. Also...worked with the athletic dept. In trying to coordinate and include both, but the logistics just didn't work. Hope to see you at the event...bring a friend or two...how about that friend of yours I met Thursday in the Mean Green Room before the So Miss game. See you tomorrow before the Tulane game. Remind me, and I'll tell you the "rest of the story" here. Ha! If you don't know it, I can assure you your post has several people laughing right now. Beat Tulane!2 points

LaLa should be in CUSA. San Antonio CC should not. In a fair world free of TV markets and politics, this would have happened. Sadly, that world is a fantasy.2 points
