  1. Ignore, the NTSU, commuter school, etc... comments. They do it to get under our skin and just confirms their insecurity. SMU is no longer relevant.

  2. We will win this game. We're doing it for the hookers. We're doing it for the hookers of past and present. We're doing it for the hookers who didn't get a chance to hook after their fateful encounter on a cold, dark, stormy night when they came face to face with pure douche.

  4. Seriously? We've had one winning season in nine years. And, the major players from this year's winning squad will be gone. Texas will love having us as the opening game of the Charlie Strong Era. If anyone should be buying out of that game, it should be us so that we can open at home against a beatable opponent. Texas coached by Charlie Strong is not a winnable game. Sorry. Texas haters on the board, you will have to get accustomed to Texas competing for national titles regularly. Strong understands well that defense wins championships. If you doubt Strong, go watch the Florida-Oklahoma national title game from 2009. Oklahoma came into the game having scored 60+ in six consecutive games, including the Big 12 title game versus Missouri. Strong's Florida defense held them to 14. With Heisman winner Sam Bradford, Oklahoma could muster only 14 against Strong's defense. Texas has no reason to ask out of their game with us; we do. We will be breaking in many new players at key offensive position and will be operating with an all new front seven on defense. Taking that show in front of 100k+ at DKR is going to be ugly for us.

  7. SMU hasn't been relevant in Dallas since the early 80s. And we all know how they got there. And they'll never be relevant in Dallas again. I used to really enjoy the barking back and forth with them but they're such an after thought I don't even really care anymore. I'm glad we're playing them over the next several seasons because they're 30 miles away but they're really not that important. We just have to keep the momentum we've got going and the sky's the limit with our potential. There's a cap on SMU's. And they've hit it. And they know it. Meanwhile they'll do the stupid NTSU and "give me fries with that" retread garbage they always fall back on. If you think about it and their legacy, the desperation to be relevant to the point of gross cheating and buy buy buy....it's actually quite sad.

  8. The 18-20 year olds who die for our country, if they die due to a shitty strategy by their superiors, are not scapegoated when their caskets are shipped home. Their superior officers, as it should be, are given the blame. Why do you hate the troops??!

  9. BUMP Looks like this was a good hire. I realize BC was a special bonus in our ST return game, but we also blocked kicks and had a good kicking game as well.

  12. Our daughter was playing on the computer last night and found the Heart of Dallas Bowl game on You Tube. It is shown without the commercials but intact other than that. We watched it together and really enjoyed it. If you can't get enough of watching the game here is another option for you.

  13. Yeah it really looked like he had a lot of trouble throwing down field on that pass to Darnell Smith in the bowl game. Being the number 2 QB in school history and MVP in one of only three bowl wins in history can only take you so far with some knuckleheads . You no longer have DT to kick around. I just thank The Lord that our coaching staff never listened to this board and we had the season we had in spite of all the DT haters. Just let it rest his place in history is written you will never change it.

  14. I've been told by several members of the team that Dajon was beating out DT last fall until the coaches opened up the playbook. It was just to much for him to grasp that early on in his development, but all the players say he has BIG play potential all over him. One player then told me "Brock would've been the starter hands down if he would just stop trying to do all that johnny manziel shit and just go out there and play". The coaches didn't trust him to take care of the ball and that's why McNulty (for obvious reasons) was our #2 for the majority of the year. I can't wait to see what Greer can bring to the table this spring, but if I were to choose now I would say Dajon.

  16. I think the commuter and T-shirt thing is funny. We have way better student attendance than they can imagine and if we're "commuter" then so is UT. Good company. Either way, SMU is just carrying a lot of insecurities from them giving away free tickets, the death penalty, 10 fans in the stands and being a school for rich kids who belong at a community college. Kinda funny. Are these kids that delusional? SMU can't pay people to come to their games and they rag on our bowl attendance? Give me a break.

  17. For the record, I don't "bring it" to any other forum. I think I posted on Ohio's forum this year just to get some info on their team, and that is it. Unlike the Craphole in San Antone folks, I don't go to teams websites and insult them. If I have something unkind to say, I say it here, where it belongs. You won't be seeing me at all on Ponyfans. They simply aren't that important to what we are accomplishing.

  24. We've reached a new age in the QB position, you're seeing it all over football right. Look at what Kaepernick did against Green Bay. Go back to Soza against us. We are starting to see mobile QB's, not just athletes at the QB spot, but QB's who can run. Vick is an athlete, Kaepernick and Russel Wilson are QB's who can bolt. Look at the top QB's getting mentioned for the draft this year and next. Manziel, Mariotta, Bridgewater, Hundley. All mobile QB's, on the other end you have Bortles and that's about it. 1) it opens up the playbook. We do run many zone read plays, but how often did DT keep it though? And if he did it usually wasn't a huge play. There were multiple plays a game where we would run zone read, DT would hand off when he had wide open field in front of him. (Disclouse: not trying to talk bad about DT, he knew his capabilities with running) Where as if a mobile QB were at he helm at the least it makes defenders stay honest to him instead of crashing down on the RB. When the QB does keep you hope they can pick up more than 3 yds per play, possibly break one open every now and then. 2) Extending plays. Once the pocket collapes being able to make a move, or slide out of the pocket to keep plays alive. While watching the HOD game, the UNLV QB was driving me nuts in the first half with his ability to extend the life of plays allowing his WR's to get open. 3) Taking off if nothing is open. Even more so than just extending plays, the ability to take off when nothing else is there. Kaepernick did this multiple times last night. Nothing is more defeating that backing a team into a 3rd and 8, making for an obvious passing situation, then covering that 3rd and long perfectly downfield only to see the QB take off and pick up the 1st with his feet. Seeing either Dajon or BB on the field can really change the offense next season. Just a few random thoughts so that I don't actually have to work on a cold cold Monday.

  25. I'm going to throw up with all the UT love. See some of y'all haven't shed your love for the T-sips. Give me a break. UT gets upset in a "herculean feat" every single damn year. Let's see: 2013 they lost to BYU 2012 they lost to TCU 2010 they lost to UCLA and Iowa State

  26. We can bitch all day long about Benford or this or that, but the best thing we can do is show up and support this team. Bottom line (so far) is that this team has continued to win close games. Granted its been to WAY lesser opponents, but they keep winning. The players and school deserve our support. We have no reason to be entitled, we want respect we need to show up and earn it. Lets feed off that excitement from the Aggie game and do something in conference play!

  27. I can see McNulty being the smartest (knows more of the system) of the group right now considering he has been around a few years and was the backup. He will have that advantage. The gap can close quickly by the start of next season though. Dajon only had a few Weeks to learn and Greer hasnt come yet. If they pick up the system, I think its out of Greer and dajon. With these new wrs and athletes coming in, will they even run the same system? Will canales make changes based on the talent? Everyone may be learning a whole new playbook. We have been hearing about a more open offense, and have slowly seen flashes of it this year. Looking at the recruits we have committed, and also looking at some targets we offered, it seems like we are looking to get faster, more quick and explosive players that can do a lot in space.

  28. Greer being signed might say less about what they think about DW and more about what they think about BB and Mini Mac. I still have faith that BB can be the guy. If it's just a matter of him learning to play within the system then hopefully that message gets across. However, I voted for DW. It would be terrific to have him as the QB for four years.

  29. I did vote McNulty as the starter but we should have another poll after the spring game to see if opinions have changed and where to go from there.

  36. And that one of their alums and SMU football lettermen, ie, Governor Bill Clements signed the bill that changed our name to the University of North Texas. (Don't think that will stop them, though....they like to call you whatever your name ain't. Sign of real maturity on their part and some of that probably coming from the very special kind of breeding many of them received as to turn out that way). Game on, SMU?

  37. Pending his "recovery" from his present injury and if he can stay injury free Dajon Williams will be the starter. He really is a potential superstar.

  38. He was fired halfway through the 2006 season. So after four bowl games, he gets a year and a half and then gets fired. That year and a half he was suffering from some serious health issues. I thought he should have gotten another year. I was in a small minority, I know.

  39. Iowa fans making fun of Iowa State fans ... shocking! When you read Iowa State boards McCarney comes off as their Darrell Dickey. Some fans love him and wish he had stayed ... some loved him but thought it was time to go ... some are happy he was fired. He's a kind of polarizing figure among Iowa State fans. Looking back it's easy to say firing McCarney was a bad decision. Hiring Gene Chizik to follow him was a horrible decision.

  40. I just about ruptured a lung with laughter at that comment. SMU isn't winning, is pretty much the symbol of Highland Park affluence and exclusivity, and hasn't been a relevant team. And to get the buy-in of Dallas at large, SMU will have to feel a lot more accessible to the average D/FW-ite. Right now, two college teams have the best odds of being the team of D/FW. One is us, and the other is TCU.

  41. I think Greer is an insurance policy due to Means's disappointing senior year. And maybe due to BB's disappointing year. I think the staff only planned on signing one QB in this class, but felt the need to push DW and also wanted another option who they wouldn't be afraid to let drop back and throw a forward pass. But i could be wrong.

  42. Dodge came in an arrogant SOB not ready to deal with the differing peoples/personalities of a public university. He plowed an already plummeting program even further into an abyss. Why people want so bad to pat this guy on the back here is beyond me? His days at the University of North Texas were an absolute embarrassment. Good riddance.

  43. I still like the Dodge hire. It was a swing for the fences at a time when the only way to win would be to hit a home run. It didn't work. I wonder how Dodge would do if given the resources McCarney has? Don't forget how many close games Dodge lost. If the ball bounced just a little differently he could still be here,

  44. Better bring our own refs. I am sure UT will receive the usual amount of home cooking. No reason to have any feet in bounds if you're wearing orange.

  45. You mean after Dajon had those phantom injuries to save a year of eligibility? And by phantom I mean completely legitimate.

  46. It's a great hire. Strong is a defensive-minded coach. Texas has been soft on defense for four consecutive seasons; that now ends. He will turn Texas into a premier defensive program. We will not come within 25 points of Texas next year...I hate to say. I'm not sure what planet everyone else is living on. The planet I'm living on shows that we graduate 6/7th of our front seven, while Texas returns Johnathan Gray, Malcolm Brown, and Joe Bergeron.
