  1. We will win this game. We're doing it for the hookers. We're doing it for the hookers of past and present. We're doing it for the hookers who didn't get a chance to hook after their fateful encounter on a cold, dark, stormy night when they came face to face with pure douche.

  3. After watching basketball get way to close with UC freaking Riverside, the wife and I headed to Plano for the evening, still wearing my UNT gear. It may not sound like much but I at least 10 random strangers tell me how they enjoyed our bowl win and congratulated me. I also had 2 guys stop me and want to talk about the season we had. It took me off guard everytime but it's great hearing people around DFW (I guess I mean more specifically outside of Denton) generating a little buzz about UNT. GMG - Beat Texas

  4. You mean after Dajon had those phantom injuries to save a year of eligibility? And by phantom I mean completely legitimate.

  5. Our daughter was playing on the computer last night and found the Heart of Dallas Bowl game on You Tube. It is shown without the commercials but intact other than that. We watched it together and really enjoyed it. If you can't get enough of watching the game here is another option for you.

  8. Ugh, I wish we would set our sights higher for a "rival" They got lucky. A number of different factors played into it, but it remains, they are an arrogant startup.

  11. This patience offense is killng me! If Benford is going to sub 3-4 guys every 2 minute he needs to employ a more up tempo style to take advantage of this depth. Chris Jones is totally lost and ineffective, as well as the other guys, in this offense. Regardless of how inferior the opponent, they will always stay in the game with this pace. If he desires to play this style, he certainly needs to shorten his bench and allow the guys to get comfortable playing together. Voss is ok but he is not a center. Our big men were on the bench and not able to get stops nor 2nd chance opportunities for rebounds (offensive) Unfortunately, we are absent of a speedy true point guard that looks to penetrate and kick the ball out to the shooters. To be that guard, he must be able to hit the outside shot more consistently than Chris or Alzee and break down his defender. There doesn't seem to be a purpose on each possession. Guys pass the ball around until the shot clock runs down prior to taking a shot. Coach Benford, please keep TJ Taylor and Maurice Anfiak (sp) on the floor until they pass out! Keep Flash off the floor. Keep a big man in the game at all times (Gaines or Coleman) Push the ball up the court on each possession. Damn!

  12. SMU has the money and/or resources to invest in a 40+ million dollar renovation and pay a "Coach in Waiting" Tim Jankovich $700,000. The Super Pit is still not bad. SMU actually lost seating with the renovation. It doesn't bother me what SMU is doing in hoops because It does not affects UNT as much as it would in football. The AAC is a basketball league. (albeit, not the original Big East) SMU has to attract national recruits to stay competitive. SMU is already recruiting a different recruit than we are. I wouldn't worry too much. We just need to win our conference or get to the tournament. Kids want to play. We offer most kids that opportunity. And, as long as Benford is the coach, everybody will get to play. There will always be enough Jeremy Combs and Greg Wesley in Dallas for us to attract. Tony Mitchell was the exception. Additionally, we provide a great opportunity for big time transfers. For now,we just can't have UTA, UTSA and similar programs pass us.

  13. No, just no. However, someone posted on the comment block of the article. It would be very nice. All 10 conference champions along with the next 6 highest ranked teams play in a 16 team playoff. Only issue with that is that smaller conferences would get crushed. Example: Mississippi State v Rice this year, and Mississippi State was maybe the 7th or 8th best team in the SEC. They spanked our conference champ. Granted I truly don't think Rice was the best team in our conference and therefore was not the best representation in that game. Nevertheless, the playing field would be even for all conferences and all conference champions would at least have a shot instead of being snubbed by P5 money.

  14. I really like DW's game, but it's hard to tell accuracy from high school tape. All the passes are complete in a highlight tape.

  16. People need to understand that we scored 61 points against Texas A&M. If A&M could have thrown the ball in the Ocean, they would have beat us by double digits. They couldn't, thank god. More like A&M playing down to our level than us playing up to theirs. Looks like Kram should win the bet, but conference is still going to be a HUGE challenge for this team.

Basically, it's going to look like this: With this picture: I was thinking Green/Black suede matting, with the game score, date and location. All thoughts, comments and feedback are welcome.

  22. Don't put all your marbles in one bag or all hopes on one signee. You set yourselves up for a big disappointment if you do. Getting the "X" factor at UNT would be huge, but there are a helluva bunch of kids who play Texas HS football as in....160,000? And amazingly, UT, TAMU and others in our state cannot sign all of them. We obviously have coaches who can sign, develop and coach projects much like most schools at the NCAA FBS level have to do, too. Still (and once again) signing Xavier would be a good start in this our new era of winning football at North Texas. GMG!

  26. I agree with the problem, but not with the solution. Probably the best hope is that enough power conferences feel snubbed with the 4-team format to jack it up to an 8-team format. For example, in a year when there are no undefeated teams, playoff bids go to 2 SEC teams, 1 PAC 12 team, and 1 ACC team, while the Big 10 and Big 12 have their 1-loss conference champ sitting out. It's going to happen, probably sooner than later. That'll get the dander up of the snubbed conferences, and will have them hollering for more teams in the playoff. That would be a good time for the non-power conferences to align with the snubbed power conferences, and work out something that will at least allow us the opportunity to have a seat at the table. Even if it doesn't give autobids to all conference champs, if it includes 16 teams that at least ought to give us a shot. Several non-power 5 teams have been ranked that high before.

  27. Simple. Start selling out Apogee annually or at least with some consistency and schedule games wherever and people will come. 6 games must stay at Apogee each year until that happens. This shouldn't really even be in debate. A regular season game will bring in maybe 20k to the Cotton Bowl, and 20k in the Cotton Bowl would make a mockery out of the football program. GMG

  28. Don't think you watched the same game I did. I saw a team that play disciplined ball and very good defense. I don't how your crystal ball came up with your poor shooting versus good defense analysis, but if you assume that A&M shoot about average for a college team. Like 75% free throw percentage, 33% from the 3, and 45% 2 pointers that would have scored 18 more points not enough to win much less by double digits. Anybody that watched the game could conclude the Aggies had a bad game, but to assume that NT had no part in their play is foolish. NT may not play close to the way they played the Aggies again, they certainly didn't today, but lets at least give them credit for a big victory over a team that was a heavy favorite.

  29. I was very excited and happy about our win against A&M the other day but realistically if you look at our schedule and quality of teams we should be at worst 9 wins and probably should have 11 wins. Still losing the way we have lost and winning by how we have been winning besides A&M game is concerning. Still have yet to see progress in year 2 as conference approaches.

  30. Greer is basically DT 2.0. Playing against him in high school his problem was accuracy. His completion percentage was under 50% against the playoff teams and just over 50 overall. He looked a lot improved in his JUCO tape and stats. He does have the big arm and the height. Looks like Mac's style of qb.

  38. Yes, the HOD should be our goal every season, if we can get it. If we, B.B., and the HOD have their way, I think we will be there every season we are bowl eligible. Our problems will come from the other C-USA members that will want a chance to play the Big 10/12. As for the HOD Kickoff Classic, I only want us playing in that game if we can get an opponent willing to count it as their home game (UAB would jump at that opportunity, they only averaged 10,548 this past season). I like playing at Apogee. We need to worry about selling the place out before we start thinking of moving home games to Dallas. We need to play 6 games a season at Apogee. We have a great atmosphere their and a real home field advantage. The only way I would want to play in the HOD Kickoff as the home team, is if we also had Hawaii on the schedule as an away game, allowing us to schedule an extra home game.
