  1. How many games have you seen them play? That one game against us? We made them look way better than they are. They're a team with plenty of weaknesses and we exposed none of them. You aren't convincing us that they're a great team and we shouldn't be as concerned about that blowout where they were beating us by 40 points. You're just lying to yourself Andrew. Andrew, you are not a Benford backer. You are seen as one because you say things like "they're a top 20 team and they'll only lose to top 25-30 teams." Then after they lose to Loyola Marymount you're making excuses for them, just like you do for Benford. And yes, please define the word "great" as it relates to sports teams. Calling this BYU team great is unfair to teams that actually deserve(d) to be called great.

  2. Is it correct that some of the younger officers are now using a modified version if the Miranda rights that includes "...you have the right to remain MF'ing silent..."?

  3. Nothing about any of the players until Benny showed up.

  4. Sorry, but no 8-6 team that loses to Loyola Marymount can be considered "great".

  7. http://news.msn.com/in-depth/we-are-creating-walmarts-of-higher-education So it seems that the plan is to remove core classes to speed up graduation rates and make education cheaper. Hey, I'm all about graduating more students and keeping costs affordable, but the point of having classes outside of your major is to develop more well-rounded and capable citizens. I also don't think everybody "deserves" a degree. Everybody deserves the chance to work hard to obtain one, but that's not the same thing. I don't think any real higher ed institutions should consider this model. You might as well be a collection of vocational schools if that is to be the case.

  9. Special HOD bowl section.....12 pages long. Great work by Brett Vito.....lots of stories. Also, in sports there's a great story on Marcus Trice. I imagine it might be linkable on here...not sure about the bowl section.

  10. Can anyone send them an e-mail and ask them to PLEASE not call us NORTH TEXAS STATE. I would also like them to not say that we got our nickname from Joe Greene.

  11. Count me as one who was underwhelmed when Mac was hired since I'd not heard his name mentioned with all the Mark Stoops/Mike Leach threads during the hiring process, but I couldn't be more proud of how he's transformed the culture of this program. The only thing that would've made this press conference better would've been for the fight song to interrupt the proceedings (WWE style) and the camera pan to RV storming the stage to present Mac with his contract extension to sign.

  12. Come to think of it, most people could learn a thing or two from McCarney. Listening to Obama stutter through a press conference is tough after listening to McCarney.

  17. Is having the officers FedEx'ed to your house an option?
    3 points
  18. Nothing beats a consistent message. Maybe someday we will experience one. Dear RV, Make a list of times when and where will call will be. Go to a copy store and get it blown up to 2''x4' and have when and where people can get there tickets written on it. Make 10 copies and pasts them by every phone in the ticket office. This isn't hard, but it is embarrassing.

  20. If you dial 911 we will send police officers to respond to your emergency. Of course we would, you've already paid for the service.* *We won't really be sending police to your house. You need to come to police headquarters Monday-Friday between 8a-5p** **We actually aren't open on Tuesdays or Thursdays. But we'll be there Monday, Wednesday, and Friday*** ***Monday, Wednesday and Friday after noon actually. But, check this out...we're gonna have weekend hours because of the overwhelming demand for police service!!!! Aint we grand?

  21. I am so proud that Dan McCarney is our coach, i have been this entire time but i just wanted to give a shout out to him on how he deals with press. Suppose I knew nothing about UNLV and UNT football and i was required to hire a coach for my program. McCarney defnitely outshined the UNLV coach. I definitely feel like UNLV is going to be outcoached at the Heart of Dallas Bowl. Dan has been here before with 20+ bowl game experiences. Dan was being funny up there, but i could tell he was being a little intimidating on purpose to the other coach. My favorite part of this video is where he asks the UNLV coach to see if he would like to take a picture with the UNT helmet. Seriously so proud to be MEAN GREEN

  22. Think you pretty much nailed it. I will NEVER order tickets by phone through the ticket office again.

  23. from what I've gathered and am hearing: - folks who ordered online and selected FedEx received their tickets via FedEx - folks who ordered online and selected WillCall have either picked up their tickets or will pick them up at Will Call - folks who walked into the ticket office and purchased tickets and paid $10 FedEx charge received their tickets via FedEx - folks who called the ticket office and paid the $10 FedEx charge received their tickets via FedEx - folks who talked to their "service representatives" from Aspire paid $5 (sometimes) and did not receive their tickets unless I missed something, it seems like part of this error had to do with terrible communication skills between the athletic department, the ticket office, and the outsourcing sales staff. Did anybody else arrive to a similar conclusion or notice that same pattern? or am I just crazy

  25. Absolutely no question but that Mac won the interview session and should win on the field January 1. But, don't sell Bobby Hauck short as a coach. He won, I believe, three national FCS championships with Montana. He's not as personable, experienced or has quite the talent on his UNLV team but I expect the Rebels to show continued improvement under him. He's taken a rag-tag team and turned them into winners as well. I am glad that Dan McCarney is our coach. He is building this program the right way and we can see many signs that the sleeping giant that is UNT is beginning to wake up.

  29. Middle Tennessee has been destroyed by a combined 83 to 14 score in its only two trips to Apogee. Although Middle Tennessee plays in CUSA's eastern division, I don't believe it is right for us to deny them this biennial beatdown that they now proclaim is integral to their success. You may call me a bleeding heart humanitarian, but I would be willing for North Texas to continue to perform this therapeutic service, even on an annual basis if necessary.

  30. You never addressed the fact that we are seriously rationalizing our inability to convincingly beat teams from 3 divisions below us.

  37. Blue ones, with black accents. The officers love the black accents so the recruiters use them. There are a few Sgts whose panties are in the wad and keep saying "We're the boys in BLUE, not black!" But we ignore them. Some of the older officers won't shut up about the uniforms we wore under a police chief 100 years ago. Aparently we would have been the best police force EVER if only the city council had supported him...or something like that. A chief ten years ago put the officers in all black uniforms because he was retiring and did it as a parting gift to the officers who requested them. He took us to four straight years of crime reduction. We named a practice range after him but still demonize him at every chance. Then we hired a chief from a podunk town and he brought his podunk town staff and uniforms with him. Under his command we had worse crime than Detroit and inner city Chicago combined. He left the department broke, corrupt and the laughing stock of police departments. Yet, still, some people keep up with where he's working now.

  39. When is that event again? Assume you volunteered for this undercover duty each year...and, "undercover" now takes on a whole new meaning! The stories you really must have! You probably could...and should...write a book.

  40. For the love of all that is holy keep our team away from Lights All Night!!! I worked it for two years undercover and let's just say it could negatively affect our players' ability to attend the game without bail money.

  41. The problem, as you well know but won't concede, is that the vague "people" are the ones we are trying to get onto this bandwagon. You and I, because we enjoy the abuse, will stick around no matter how inept things are....you still attend basketball games. But the "average Joe" needs to see that this ship is run well before he's willing to board. This isn't complex no matter how much you try to sugar coat it.

  44. I believe in statistics. We are 7-0 when rushing for 150+ yards. UNLV gives up 210 per game. That equation to me = UNT victory. Man I am so giddy for this game to get here. I hope they release the pre-Bowl video soon on Beyond the Green. Harry, any word on when the 5 year stadium donation for club level seats will end? Seeing as how I am a middle school teacher/coach who graduated in May that 20,000 of student loans and my wifes 10,000 student loans. I just want to give everything I can to the cause that is UNT football.
