North Texas is not only in play, they stand a very good chance landing him. Even if a Big 12 school offers.6 points

Here is an excellent article from the North Texan about a unique member of the Mean Green Nation. Enjoy. http://northtexan.unt.edu/ian-campbell?homepage=1 GMG!4 points

I can't say who I am on the message board (I'm not a UNT coach or anything), but I know a little bit about UNT recruiting and will likely learn more about it in coming days.4 points

They just announced that George will be doing a full hour on UNT and the HOD Monday from 7-8 pm. They also made sure to point out that SMU and TCU didn't make bowls.3 points

2 things that make me want him at NT even more. His nickname is the Apex Predator and He has an offer from Yale3 points

I can't stand the interlocking NT. We need a helmet like the new Oregon helmet, but Green or matte black and with a stylized wing instead of the feather.3 points

So I did another crawl around Fair Park last night and The Amsterdam Bar it is. I met the other manager and now both guys are totally on board with setting this place up as the Mean Green command center. The patio is HUGE and presents a slightly elevated deck which would be perfect for Mean Green photos. I envision some Mean Green flags balloons and other decorations where Mean Green fans can photo together in front of the Amsterdam Bar sign. It is a perfect opportunity to throw the bar name all over Facebook with Mean Green fans cawing in front of it. The Manager is also down with Mean Green flags out front and decorations throughout the bar. So this is where I need some assistance. My brother has the contact and will be coordinating from the Green Diehard side. However, we need decorations, flags, beads anything Green we can deck the bar and patio out with. I don't know if the best route is to go with one person or a committee to bring all this together, but ideally we should get the supplies by the end of the week. The other great thing is that the bar is eager to make a Mean Green concoction so recipe ideas are welcomed. Perhaps PM me if you want to jump into the planning and I will put you in touch with my brother who is connecting with the bar management. So here is what we have so far: Event: Post game celebration of the season and game Location: The Amsterdam Bar Time: Following the Heart of Dallas Bowl Notes: Need Mean Green flag(s) to identify bar in the front Need Mean Green flag(s) and decorations to set picture stage and tables on the patio Need Mean Green concoction ideas to submit to bartenders Going to create announcement for Facebook and diehard recruitment efforts Entertaining idea of photographer for photo shots on the Green deck More to come but if available win or come up short we have a lot to celebrate about this season! Go Mean Green!!!!!3 points

With the strong RTVF program we have, I would expect to be able to find podcasts of aspiring broadcasters performing play by play of our games. Do many of the students do such a thing? Do we ever have RTVF students set up in the Pit sitting in the media section attempting to record/broadcast their play by play account of the action? I suppose there may be some broadcast right issues, but I would think I would at least see some aspiring broadcasters practicing their craft, even if they are not allowed to publish it. Same thing goes for the TV side of things. Seems like a great opportunity to utilize the RTVF program and resources to put on an actual production of the games. Never understood why we don't have a production crew full of students that are supplementing George/Hank with graphics, maybe some replays during timeouts, etc... I am talking about using the best students that have shown an ability, not just anyone. It seems like it would be a terrific opportunity for some of our best and brightest to produce the games and there should be no shortage of support staff that are willing to get hands on experience. Is this type of thing done at the college level? Seems like it would be a great opportunity to set our RTVF program apart.2 points

Very cool. 96 consecutive games at age 17? What will that number be 50 years from now?!?2 points

Baylor's reaction has been quite arrogant after they found out who their opponent was. I'd like to see UCF give Baylor a thumping.2 points

What an embarrassment. UNLV alumni should hang there head in shame. Maybe they should make the bowl split 60/40 UNT since we have to carry the COMPLETE load for attendance. 200 tickets is crap. If the roles were reversed, I have no doubt that UNT would sell at least 3k tickets to the Las Vegas bowl, maybe more. Pick it up, UNLV. You are embarrassing yourselves.2 points

Wouldn't bank on the kid playing QB at UTSA. Skills are not even in the universe with Riley Dodge when he was coming out of Carroll, not close to Desmon White either.2 points

Agree. The day a casino does anything financially that is not directly in its own interest is the day that the Dallas Morning News fawns over UNT football and ignores the existence of SMU.2 points

Did it ever occur to you that the reason you have to put so much effort into selling FB tickets is because RV and his marketing "team" have no clue?2 points

And runner is going to be the "001" that takes us over the top! At my age you tend to repeat, I say repeat, I do say repeat yourself (insert pic of Yosemite Sam)...... ......but if Big D would have only copied Fort Worth for what they do with their bowl game annually as a city wide civic project we would be more than happy with the turnstile count on New Years Day; who knows, we still may be. Rice played at Fort Worth last year. Anyone really think the Owls had that many traveling fans to hit over 40K? Advantage > > > >Fort Worth & TCU who made that happen weeks before that game took place. 40,000 bowl fans at Amon Carter Stadium is pert near a sellout in that football venue.1 point

Houston is up to 25 (per rivals), and why is that relevant? Because they are going after some of the same guys as UNT. TCU will try to get some late too. They seem to be waiting like last year. They only have 13 (per rivals)1 point

So he hates the mere existence of Guyer? If Guyer did not exist then Ryan would be like Allen and would be dominating every year because they would be twice the size of other schools in the district? Hmmmm1 point

I talked with them a couple weeks ago. They said when they had UNT stuff, it didn't sell, but now that they don't have it, they get a lot of requests. Hard to sell what you don't carry.1 point

Not a rumor when espn, the company FF works for releases he's up for the job. Absolutely stupid we didn't hire him1 point
-
He wasn't a rumor. There were meetings with him. We weren't willing to pay his asking price. And Casper had several impressive people leave messages for RV to call them so they could give Casper a recommendation (Greg Popovich being one of them). Rumor has it the calls were not returned. Casper then left SFA for Texas St. If you don't think he was interested in a more high profile job at UNT (his alma mater), you have had one to many cocktails. In hindsight, he would have been the perfect coach for an athletic team that couldn't shoot. We would have given up 10 less points a game with Casper as head coach. Instead, we gambled (after being told those days were over) on the cheapest option who had interviewed for every head coach opening the previous 3 years without getting a job. Now we know why. What did all those other programs see that we missed and do you really have confidence in the 4 remaining names in RV's desk drawer?1 point

Definitely not the worst athletes I've seen on the hardwood. We have players who could do very well in C-USA with better coaching.1 point

Definitely not the worst NT basketball team I've seen. Disappointing? Yes.1 point

Facilities is no longer an issue. Just an excuse for poor hires.1 point
-
There a lot wrong with your post. I'd say this is still a very talented team with some of the best athletes we've seen in recent memory. The facilities aren't brand new, but they are still good. But, everything you mentioned looks a lot worse when it appears they were put there without a purpose.1 point
-
We can't blame everything on facilities, especially the Pit. Benford, like Trilli and Dodge, we're bad hires. RV needs to fix BB. Too many screw up hires by RV.1 point
