  2. A one-character post from PMG. Did the galaxy just implode? This is HOF, pizza-level, best-answer-by-far-in-this-thread, you-know-what-i'm-digging material if there ever was such. Quick, someone write a song and save a Green Line seat for this man. This must've taken years of planning and a 80%+ heart-rate effort.

  6. Brief mention of the "Dallas Bowl" as Mickey Spagnola called it. Any mention is better than no mention? Very nice things Joe said about Apogee like "it's small at 31,000 but it has the ammenities of a much larger stadium." Good show and Joe obviously very proud of his school.

  14. How many of you have your name on a wall in Apogee for donating money??? Junior does... Doesnt matter, he still likes the team he grew up following and said some stupid things 20 years ago. He's a prick and doesnt deserve the benefit of the doubt despite his contributions and anything nice he said about us since. He must be hated, dispised and disparaged on this fourm even in threads that have nothing to do with him [sarcasm] This is the how we treat our fellow alumni donors and people wonder why we don't have more???

  16. Excellent segment on Coach Wintrich inspiring cultural change through the warrior's mindset. Coach Frank is responsible for a huge part of the success we are experiencing and will continue to experience. Love what he does and how he does it. All of our coaches and how they work together as a team is reflected in our football team: character, integrity, discipline, enthusiam, belief in each other, and belief that with the right mindset, with undying effort, with the will do something that has never been done before...anything is possible. Love that they believe in the Mean Green.

  19. I agree with you on this topic. 5 juco games does not give much of an experience edge. Especially looking at the highlights and the comp. Dajon has been on the sidelines and in the film room. He should know the system more and should probably have an advantage...should...but...what "system" are we going to run? If we were looking for a juco with experience as the factor, we did not get one. 5 games is closer to no experience than it is to an experienced QB. There were jucos that had a full year or two if experience was the key. Greer offers something else that the coaching staff likes. What this is, I don't know. This seems similar to the Brock signing as far as experience is concerned. One of my biggest question is are we going to use Greer the way he was used at Navarro? If not, it could turn into a Brock situation where you like the physical talent, but hope he picks up your system and take over the offense and be a leader. We were supposed to have this system where these running qbs we have could be used, and we did not see it. We now have 3 mobile qbs, and we just got a pocket passer. Did they change their minds? Our coaches do not seem dynamic enough to design a system around a player's strengths... the way it seems...they just gave up on Brock instead of trying to use him in some way. If Greer is the guy, hopefully he already has some familiarity with what we plan on doing. Saw a lot of play action in his highlights. I know we don't have the luxury of getting high school and juco players that run a similar system. Right now, we are happy with just getting legit D1 talent, but at some point we are going to have to get guys that can come right in and play instead of hoping a guy can pick up what we do.

  22. Muscle doesn't matter as a Quarterback? I'm not saying a QB should be huge, but being 185 will make them prone to injury. Greer is at the ideal weight for a QB, about 225.

  23. http://www.meangreensports.com/sports/m-footbl/spec-rel/121913aah.html DCTA, DART To Provide Free Train Service To Heart Of Dallas Bowl Fans Must Pick Up Free Transit Pass To Ride On New Year's Day Dec. 19, 2013 DENTON, Texas - For those looking a fun and easy way to get to the Cotton Bowl to cheer on the Mean Green at the Heart of Dallas Bowl, the Denton County Transportation Authority (DCTA) and Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) are providing free train service between Denton and Fair Park on New Year's Day. The DCTA and DART will run limited train service on DCTA's A-train and DART's Green Line for North Texas fans with a ticket. Fans MUST have a transit pass to ride the trains. This is a special service that normally wouldn't run on New Year's Day, Jan. 1, but is running this year to accommodate North Texas fans going to the Heart of Dallas Bowl. The transit passes for Jan. 1 are free and can be picked up beginning Dec. 26 at either the North Texas Athletics Ticket Office or the DCTA Downtown Denton Transit Center (DDTC) located at 604 E. Hickory. There is a strict limit of one ticket per person, so each rider must pick up their transit pass in person. The A-train, which runs between downtown Denton and DART's Trinity Mills Station, will depart the Downtown Denton Transit Center promptly at 8:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 1. Passengers are recommended to arrive 10 to 15 minutes early to allow time for parking. Parking is limited at the DDTC, but ample parking is available at the city's public lot at Exposition and Hickory. The A-train will stop at the Trinity Mills Station, where passengers need to transfer to the southbound DART Green Line train. Passengers must present their transit pass to DART fare enforcement on the Green Line trains. The Green Line train will arrive at the Fair Park Station at approximately 10:11 a.m., and the Cotton Bowl is a short walk from the station. PASSENGERS MUST KEEP THEIR TRANSIT PASS for the return trip after the game. Passengers will be required to present their transit pass to DART's fare enforcement on Green Line train for the return trip to Denton after the game. The DART Green Line train will depart the Fair Park Station at 3:11 p.m. or 30 minutes after the end of the game. With the large number of travelers expected for this game, passengers are encouraged to arrive to the Fair Park Station at least 15 minutes prior to departure to allow ample time to board the departing Green Line train. Passengers wishing to return to Denton will again transfer at the Trinity Mills Station from the Green Line train and board the DCTA A-train, which is expected to arrive in Denton at approximately 4:42 p.m. After returning to Denton, be sure to partake of downtown Denton businesses which will host post-game parties. More information on the post-bowl parties on the square will be posted on MeanGreenSports.com.

  25. Whether or not it was needed, it was handled very very poorly. There's a right way and a wrong way to encourage someone who's been on the job a long time that it's time to go and a wrong way. The way Jerry Jones fired Tom Landry created Jone's reputation for being an idiot. The back stabbing to get rid of Bill made the group that did it all look bad. You call someone in quietly and tell them with a new management team the entire program is going to move in a new direction. You then announce a celebration of the person's long and distinguished career. You let them go out a hero even if they didn't really want to go. That's classy. Three months of bad mouthing them behind their back in secret isn't classy. I like the broadcasts with George. But the he wasn't the voice of the Dallas Cowboys for over a decade. He's never been play by play announcer for even one Super Bowl. He didn't call the Texas Rangers nor the Chicago Cubs games. And he's never done anything like be the reporter for the channel 4 at the midnight press conference when the sheriff's department trotted out Lee Harvey Oswald for the press. George is a great guy, but he still doesn't have the experience Bill did. But this is all water under the bridge. We now have the Bill Mercer press box just like Tom Landry is now in the Ring of Honor.

  26. Sorry I'm late to the show...I was in a three-day, naked Bikram meditation session. Someone mention my name?

  27. Nothing. It was Georgio that replaced Mercer as the play by play announcer (Mercer didn't step down willingly). If you heard games back then it was obviously needed. Mercer was great in his prime and a legend, but his prime had long since past and it was time for him to step down. Its not an uncommon tale. Legends like Keith Jackson and Pat Summerall called games a couple of seasons too long too. It was uncomfortable listening.

  28. I don't know that I would personally disagree with anything that he said. However, he did put it in a somewhat over-the-top, graphic, Fake-Lonnie-esque way that he had to know would not make a bunch like A&E very happy. 20 years ago, comments like these would not have affected his job status or called for any kind of renunciation from his employer. But we're in a very different climate now.

So no actual priority points holders seats had been assigned yet. They actually called me back to see how I wanted the seats sorted, a row or stacked.

  37. As best I can tell, about 17K plus whatever UNLV sold of their allotment, plus third party sales have already been purchased. We sold our 10k allotment and are working on a second. HOD had sold 5k yesterday according to some reports I have heard. My guess is 20k already sold or more and we have a couple of weeks left.

  41. Hold grudges much? Over the years it has seemed to me that those that disparage Craig on here do so because he doesn't tout UNT like he does OU combined with the fact they don't like the ticket because they don't talk sports every segment. Craig grew up in Oklahoma and was a sports freak. He knew he wanted to be in media and knew North Texas was his best avenue. For him it was a means to an end. I can't fault the guy for that. Nor can I fault him for still having his affinity for OU. He grew up watching one of the most dominant college programs ever and it made a forever lasting impression. Over the last few years he has never talked badly about NT and recounts fondly his time at NT and the RTVF program. Because he doesn't drink the green kool-aid like Georgio or any of us doesn't mean he should get ripped. Just my .02 And side note, as someone that spent 6 years in sports radio every segment about sports gets BORING!!!!!! There are only so many times you can breakdown the secondary of the Seattle Seahawks. UGH. I remember if I spent even half a segment not talking sports I would get nasty emails berating me for not talking sports every single second. What a beating.
