  1. I'm also in the Mean Green Club, but received an email within a day or two of the bowl announcement, before UNLV had even been announced, with the following graphic in it. I wonder if some of you have spam blockers that are keeping this stuff out or something.

  4. I just heard a third grader ask his teacher why UNT looks so unprepared and why a bottom rung SLC team is beating us at home. She had no answer.

  5. Not to get this thread off in another direction but besides ones kids, I don't agree with blindly supporting anything. Everybody has their lines where enough is enough and Benford's actions both on and off the court have made some people feel that their personal line has been crossed. I don't blame those who feel this way. We just lost at home to SFA by 30+. Add that to a slew of bad performances under Benford. I wouldn't think less of anyone who ask themselves "Should I be devoting my time and money to this mess?"

  6. Idk, I'm a student and I see tons of stuff from UNT in my email about the bowl. Not to mention it's the talk on campus. You'd have to live under a rock and go to class blind and deaf to not know we were bowling. Hell, the provost goes "We're bowling! Get your tickets! Go Mean Green!" at commencement.

  7. I have not seen one thing through my UNT email from the University talking about the bowl game. NOT ONE THING. I think anyone in our athletic office who is in any way shape form or fashion related to marketing they should be fired, and replaced immediately. I am also disappointed that no plans have been announced they have had over a week to get things ironed out and get information out there. I am currently VERY disappointed in our athletic office.

  8. Define team... Would a staff of about 3 and some student interns count?

  10. You'll pay for that cheapness in the long run and here is why: Schools have to buy whatever tickets they don't sell. That's the way the bowl business works. If North Texas doesn't sell what the HOD bowl demands they sell, then the AD budget will have to pick up the slack - which means they'll have to recoup that somehow - raising next years home game ticket prices may be a way in which they do that. And if you're a fan that would like to see Benford gone think of it like this: For every ticket the school doesn't sell that's $75 LESS we have to buy Benford out with. (Due to the fact the AD budget will have to cover the ticket shortfall.) Also, not selling our allotment tells future bowls that North Texas fans are too cheap and thereby risks invitations to future bowl games. Justify it however you like but your short term savings could have long term negative effects. To boil it down to ever simpler terms - Buying cheap tickets - supports Tony Benford.

  11. If they make the game day experience more like a Mavs game I don't see us getting season tickets until it changes back to the college atmosphere. When we were still good and exciting the place was electric and there was no reason to try and manufacture atmosphere.

  13. We've been through this with football. Ultimately, it's our entertainment dollar. I don't attend things that increase my stress in a negative way without first filling out a W-4 and negotiating a nice benefits package.

  14. This is an honest question - does our AD have a marketing team?

  16. Having a lot of QBs to sort through is the baseball equivalent of having lots of live bullpen arms heading into Spring Training. It's a good problem.

  17. BTW - for anyone associated with the team reading this...we still support the guys. That's WHY we want the coach gone.

  18. For the love of God folks, the member of my party who is UNEMPLOYED came up with the money to buy through our ticket office. Years from now, when we are left home during bowl season, we will rue the day we were too cheap to show our buying power at a bowl IN DALLAS. We talk about wanting to be "big time" but all I see is "same ol' NT".

  19. This was a HUGE game and a HUGE win guys. With this win we are wrapping our season up with a .800 win percentage in conference (4-1), now we only have to play the remaining OOC slate and we'll be set up really well for the conference tourney! What? what do you mean when you say we are NOT in the southland conference???

  20. If we have a poor turnout, it's only a reflection of the apathy that has been fostered by the University towards our football program for decades. Heck, even when we were going to N.O. bowls, UNT was still doing it on a shoestring budget with minimal effort to get people on board. We've only recently put our big boy pants on. It's going to take some time to turn a huge tide. Most of us on this site are already doing what we can. We can reach out to friends/relatives and tell them whats going on and bring them along. But, for the hundreds of thousands of alumni out there who were in school when it was uncool to root for UNT, it's going to take quite a marketing offensive to get them in the fold (because even while on campus, they never were in the fold). That part, we cannot do. The football program appears to have done its part. I really hope we can get enough people in there to reward them with a home-crowd feel.

  26. Glad I played for Dickey but how could you not want to play for this guy. Wish he would have come in after the Dickey era and coached those who were left over instead of Dodge. Really respect the kind of coach he is win or lose.

  28. So if Benford does not do any Radio Shows, does that mean he loses the extra revenue? I think most coaches have extra $$$ for doing shows

  29. This recruiting service and others last year did not figure in our 8 NCAA FBS level transfers and even this year.................our 4 star High School All American linebacker transfer from Oregon U who is in school and will be padded up for Spring football. I know, these are HS players on most of these recruiting service lists but there are so many other variables involved in a school's entire recruiting class such as JUCO transfers like QB Josh Greer? State of Texas has 160,000 kids playing HS football. There are still too many Drew Brees out there to be discovered which not one Texas based FBS school discovered his senior year at Mission(?) HS. Moral of All This: Don't put your money on these 24/7 rankings because I'd bet none of their staff last summer had North Texas playing in a New Years Day bowl game, either. GMG!

  31. What happen about, "it's all about facilities"? We had great basketball facilities for about 30 years and just a few decent teams; that's poor leadership from the administration and bad hiring on the athletics department side. Now our once " best in Texas" facilities are seriously ageing; we all better get this fixed or we're in trouble...
