I don't think Benford needs to be fired. I think he needs to be reassigned to custodial engineer in the Super Pit. That way we'll make Andrew happy because Benny will still be getting a paycheck and he won't be coaching.5 points

I propose Andrew & UNT90 be the honorary team coaches for Kram's GMG basketball game.4 points

I spent a couple years in the student section, ten on the sidelines, and the last couple in the club level... If you can swing a sideline pass it is greatness, but the club level is a great experience itself. Can't recommend it enough, not cheap but worth the money if you have it to spare. Increased revenue from things like the club level is the reason we can afford to bring in early season games like Idaho and Texas southern, instead of having five home games.4 points

I think it's important that North Texas fans wear green January 1. Not black, not white, not grey, but green. Let the bowl officials this year know who is who. And for that matter, let bowl officials for future bowls know how well the Mean Green travel. On television, or from across the field, no one can read who's team you're supporting. Wear GREEN so there's no question. Beat UNLV GO MEAN GREEN3 points

That's not how they are spinning it. It's all about Mack not wanting Saban to take his job. Once it was leaked that it was possible if Mack staying then Saban signs his contract. Coincidence? I think not. It was basically within an hr that all goes down. Mack was threatening to air dirty laundry. Mack basically want two things. No Saban and to make Orangebloods look bad. He accomplished that. Saban was interested to the point he was contacting other coaches to gauge their interest in joining him at UT. It's completely hilarious that Mack was so powerful that he cost UT Saban. He kept UT from being a football monopoly all bc he thought he would have beat Bama in 09 with McCoy.3 points

So you'd rather a message board discuss what Benny should do than he actually be held accountable for what he's not doing?2 points

I guess you aren't familiar with this assistant coach? http://www.meangreensports.com/sports/m-baskbl/mtt/rob_evans_850664.html Reassign Benford to Rec League refereeing for all I care, just end this terrible, terrible, terrible experiment. EDIT: Damnit! Ok, this is my last response.2 points

Really? Did you really just... You can't put an intramural game plan into a colligiate game. On second thought all I heard all game long was "face guard, face guard" so maybe they have. So maybe we just need tohire your boy who coached you guys up so hard that you were tops of your a league. I'm done with you sir. Hope you enjoy this game you call mean green basketball.2 points

Look dude, I haven't responded to you in a long time because its obvious you have no idea what you are talking about when it comes to the game of collegiate basketball. Anyone that has ever played basketball in high school, a serious college intramural league, or a serious men's rec league can see this about you. BUT... My last response to you ever on a basketball topic would be this: Benford promised better defense. We just gave up almost 90 at home to an F'n Southland Conference team in an embarrassing 35 point HOME LOSS. IfUNT was at all serious about basketball, this would be Benford's last game. Instead, we will get blame and excuses from an AD who refuses to admit a terrible coaching hire. RV should be kissing Mac's feet, because without a winning football season, things would (or at least should) have been VERY uncomfortable for him in Denton. This is unacceptable. Period. Benford should have been gone last April, but should definitely not be allowed to continue after this game. But we will do what we always do.2 points
-
I going to say that no rational person would continue to back up Benford at this point. I stand by my word. Andrew doesn't sound like a rational person. I hope our AD is starting to realize this and puts his ego on the side and acknowledges he made another bad hire with this one and proceeds to move on and fix this problem.2 points

Benford should follow my scouting report. I was only wrong when I over estimated or athletic ability, a mistake I won't make again. Also did not realize our basketball IQ was so low. Another mistake I won't make again.2 points

SFA gets wide open on first possession on a back cut. Evidently we were caught by surprise.2 points

I think #0 Walkup is better than #34 Parker. We will win the pre-game. Because we look taller, faster and more athletic. Once the actual game starts it is a crap shot. We need to keep it a wide open game to win. If we run for 40 minutes we can win and win big. If we allow SFA to set up their half court defense we are in serious trouble. Their half court offense can also cause us problems. They don't mind running their offense for most of the shot clock looking for a shot in the paint. They usually get off a good shot. They are very disciplined, make good passes and take advantage of the defense when the defense rests or loses focus. In short, I don't see us playing up tempo for 40 minutes. I expect a very close game. We should win based only on having more height and better athletes. But would not be surprised if SFA wins because they (as a team) have a much higher basketball IQ.2 points

Happens all the time, and at all levels of competition. Not long ago, Southern Miss and East Carolina ran off the most successful coaches they'd ever had. Fans are easily spoiled. Bama fans will be ready to run Saban off if his squad ever dares finish only 8-4 for a couple of seasons. OU, Stoops. Any of them. Clemson did it to Tommy Bowden...and, he'd never so much as had a losing season. Ever. With either Clemson or Tulane. Georgia fans have been trying to run Mark Richt for years. Auburn pitched Tommy Tuberville...despite his 7-3 record in the Iron Bowl. Jeff Tedford delivered some of the best football ever at Cal and got run. Joe Tiller took Purdue to their first Rose Bowl/Big Ten title since 1966, and was run off after crafting 10 winning seasons in 12 years. There will be people on this board ready to pitch McCarney overboard next season if we don't qualify for a bowl.2 points

In general, we build these kids up to where they can't handle anything other than how great they are. This is a recruiting message board where we discuss recruits and prospects. Life doesn't get any easier. A better response would have been that "I am going to show that guy/fan that he was wrong about me" or "I didn't have a good game in the games he mentioned but I am always working to improve". Can't go through life wanting to 'charge up" folks who question anything about you. Prove them wrong!.2 points

Stadium donation, per seat, is 3,125 6,250 or 12,500 depending on the section. Seats are $350 per regardless of section. Mgc donation is minimum $500 per year. It depends on what you like. Some people prefer to sit in the stands. I really enjoy the club, even though I don't think I had any drinks up there this year. But it's a great view, they have a free buffet (been declining in quality lately) free soft drinks, and indoor viewing when the weather gets foul.2 points

Were you ever brave enough to walk in the back near the lavatories on those flights? It was ungodly what everyone did to those toilets after games. Please tell me you were on the flight back from Nevada when the plane landed in Vegas and the pilot had to come back and say we were being thrown off if players kept fighting while aloft. There were broken seats that had to be fixed before we could depart again. Harry may have been on this one. A fight started when some guys who I won't name were laughing and joking after Nevada destroyed us. Corbin Epps told them to shut the f up because we lost. When he turned around one of them sprayed the back of his head with water from a bottle and continued laughing and told him to shut the f up. WW3 ensued. He started breaking seats apart to get to them. He was held down and eventually calmed down. Until they made fun of him and it started again. He was held down again and eventually calmed down again. Coach Michaels came back and sat next to Corbin and told everyone they couldn't speak until we got home. (There were still giggles just like the flight home after the towel incident which is a whole different story.) Eventually we landed in Vegas. The pilot balled out everyone, the plane was repaired, fueled up, and we flew back Love Field. It was pretty funny but we were to late to get beers so that sucked.2 points

What's not hard to see is that he was perfectly happy in Alabama, let his agent float the UT rumor and then cashed in on the pay day. You'll notice that Saban never met with UT officials, not once. The UT folks are now trying to spin this as "we didn't offer him a contract in time while we sorted out Mack Brown's future". What they're ignoring is that, if this were true, it's admitting that Mack Brown had the power to pick and choose when he came or went...not really in line with the whole "we're Texas, we can buy and/or buy out whomever we want" mythos. Expect their consolation hire...whoever that is...to be on the hot seat in a few years when he doesn't sniff a national title.1 point
-
Yes. Part of his resignation terms. If Saban comes you could expect to see a lot of dirty laundry aired out. Plus Saban doesn't want to be considered a vilian.1 point

Scariest things for all colleges in the nation from an athletic perspective is to have UT now having a legit AD and a true "direction" from the AD. Expect to see a new HC in FB, BB and Baseball at UT in the next 12 months and see the $$ come rolling in1 point

Yeah, but they also got some bad breaks. Offense also shut down once they got up 35-20. They stopped the Allen offense then they got a bad break on Allen's punt. Hate to say they blew it, but they did as a team. Just like they won 14 games as a team. Can't see Allen losing to Pearland, but I couldn't see Trinity losing to Pearland 3 years ago, after they knocked us out of the playoffs my senior year and were 15-0, so you never know.1 point

Once you pay out your "Stadium donation" over 5 years then the only thing you pay is the yearly donation plus cost of seats? Is it 350 per ticket per game or 350 bucks for the seat for the year?1 point

That's what made it so awesome. We were playing with a fraction of the resources of the SWC schools and still doing well. Rick1 point

Agree, none of the players should read the boards. Unfortunately people are intentionally mean and will stab you in the back faster than you can turn around if you make a mistake. Athletes aren’t really people, just things to be analyzed. /sarcasm1 point

If they don't pan out then it was a wasted scholarship! Is there a better way to put that? Now, please post for me when I put down a 17 year old child. (minus the exaggeration). Over the past 2 years, men's basketball has released 2-3 kids. Maybe because they didn't think they could help the program. Larry Brown (SMU) dismissed half of the kids he inherited. Welcome to college athletics and sports message boards. I'm not into the star system like many but don't these sites (Rivals and others) assess stars on kids as early as their soph. year? That would make them even younger children. Aren't they saying that the no stars and 2 stars aren't as good? Haven't I read on here, from those in the know, that the bigger programs shy away from these kids. Or, only recruit 3-5 stars prospects? Green92, criticism of these so called children start long before I pay to see them.1 point
