What if... NT vs. SMU in Heart of Dallas

My 5 year old doesn't understand that it's not UNT playing on the tv. He's been cheering all game "go mean green !" I give up trying to explain. I'm just glad he hasn't asked to turn it to cartoons yet

Unless I am forgetting something the AF Bowl was a possibility that came into play because bowls would be trading spots in order to get Notre Dame somewhere besides the Pinstripe bowl. CUSA was interested because it had two Texas teams (NT/Rice) that it wanted to send to bowls in Texas. Well, now that ND has officially accepted the Pinstripe bowl, and Rice has accepted a bid to the Liberty... there is no need for that trade. We are going to be in the Heart of Dallas.

Since he's in charge as UNT prez' and all department's bosses report to him, he can influence the setting of attendance goals and may even suggest quotas for those whose job it is to promote and market. Something few of us have seen in Denton of late. Remember when some of you ask just about every August: How many season tickets have we sold? Also recall how no one ever gets an answer for such a simple question? If your happy with our attendance why waste your time in the discussion? It's a cinch that Coach DMac and his team cannot be happy with the turnstiles count.

The west was 9-5 against the east this season before this championship game. You probably could have thrown any of the top 4 west teams in there and gotten similar results.

You're assuming first that we will spend the money to do so when nothing in our past indicates that we will, and second, and even more unlikely, that certain people will swallow their pride and admit their mistakes in this hire. No one is so gauche as to sit in the stands at SMU games anymore. They continue their "Boulevarng in their cozy, booze and hor d'voures filled stadium suites. It is like the Roman Coliseum games without the plebeians. Rome fell.

We certainly did bring some of the perception with the Florida schools and MTSU...the only consolation with regard to MTSU is that they were the best overall program in the belt AND within a major metropolitan area. FIU and FAU were mediocre recent start ups in a metro area that cares less about their existence than DFW does about us. NT needs to minimize any connection we ever had to the Sun Belt and win football games. Let the rest of the teams in the SBC languish,

Both sides of this historical Denton vs. UNT pissing match need to cut out the who-deserves-what garbage. Put the past behind them and work together to make this city and university better. Getting DISD involved in Apogee can only help every side involved. Having said that, I know it is easier said than done.

I think it would be great if we went with our normal home or away uniform (which ever we are at the bowl game) with a white SOW on a Green helmet. I think most of the fan base would love it. Then next year we keep the dang SOW on the helmet! No more of the North Texas in text on a helmet ever again!

No special uniform Rick V said we had to buy all new sets of uniforms when we went to CUSA because SBC logo was embroided. Plus we spent money on centennial uniform and black uniform. He said a tweak to the uniform is possible. My guess is a white SoW No black uni for bowl game he said

For all DT haters look at the mistakes a Heisman hopeful has made. "How do you like me now" says DT . There is a reason DT is breaking Ramsey records set nearly 40 years ago and in only three years just like Ramsey thanks to Dodge' s stupidity at Arkansas State DT's freshman year.

My Facebook feed is full of similar things so it looks like it's everybody. One friend had a tree branch issue, and also said he blew a transformer. I don't know if it was Optimus Prime or just one of the lesser transformers, but of course I'll keep you updated.

Actually, the first and second place teams got both bowl bids. Seems very fair to me.

Facing a 5 win team on the last game of the year is very dangerous. Add in the fact that Gilbert may be back & JJ could be coaching for his job next season. Really hope UCF wins !

I'm the exact opposite--I hope he tells this same story everyday for the rest of his career here. I want him to remind everyone of just how little this place cared about football and athletics before he got here. We played in the worst stadium in FBS football. We played in the worst conference in FBS football. We kept one of the worst FBS coaches of all time around here for a 4th year, even though he had managed to win all of 5 games, 3 of which were against one team (WKU), who happened to be the only team in FBS that was worse than us--all because they refused to buy him out an extra $275k. I hope we never forget where we came from...
