  1. Congrats, DT! You had some great handoffs out there today.

  7. I have been Anti-DT all year and still am. The reason we are 8-4 is strictly because of our defense and with out them who knows where we would be. Our ground game won today not Thompson. He is still unathletic and lacks ball control. Yeah he is one of the top leaders in a bunch of all time passing stats but if you start as many games as he has, of course it will add up. That's great that we have won eight games and I couldn't be happier for this program. I also couldn't be happier that DT is a senior. Long live coach Mac!!!!!

  9. Can anyone help me locate this guy? He played for North Texas in 1992, #20; believe his last name was Sampson. He returned kick offs in the game against the Longhorns on 09/26/1992 in Austin; I recall he got injured during that game. He lost something in Austin that weekend which I am trying to return to him. Does anyone know his full name and what city he might be living in?

  11. UTSA not being eligible for a bowl is not a hard concept...also, it's irrelevant how many bowl eligible teams there are. CUSA has direct tie ins. Unless we get passed over for all of those we will be bowling.

  12. Per Vito sources, a conference title would not override their preliminary status and they would not even go to the Liberty Bowl. Even with a CUSA championship, they would be forced to sit home.

  13. Jeez guys, no less than 35k would buy tickets from UNT alone. Since 17-20K showed for New Orleans, more would show for HOD. It's a freaking bowl game in our own back yard. I was present at all 4 N.O. Bowls and we had at least that many. The Mean Green Nation would show up in force. UNT alums answer the call to bowl games - unless in it is in a f'd place like Hawaii or D.C.

  14. Ha! All very funny. And no, nothing like that. I have his football helmet from that game. It was collecting dust in a closet at my Dad's house. Thought he might like to have it as a piece of memorabilia from his college days. Just trying to track him down so I can mail it to him.

  15. Looking at old yearbooks online, it looks like you are looking for Joe Sampson. Your story sounds a little fishy by the way. Just sayin'.

  17. Been trying to keep with my old high school team (Mesquite Poteet) and found this article on their QB, Lane Novy. I know we are somewhat set at QB and he's a little small, but he's a gunslinger. http://www.nfanation.com/columns/nfa-watchlist/lane-novy-makes-smooth-transition-to-qb

  18. I get that not everybody who drinks also smokes, but for me cirrhosis without cancer is just pointless. I don't mind if there's a patio or something, but if there aren't smoking options, I might sip a margarita, wine, or vodka tonic but don't expect me to drink much. If I'm going beer or whiskey, then tar and nicotine are a requisite tandem. Also, I don't care what you call the Greenhouse, that place is freaking awesome. But I've missed out a lot since I left so I can't wait to troll around a bit when I get back. I've only been to bars for anything other than food and events a few times in the last 5 years, so it may not be as much fun with my whole "responsible mode". That makes me feel really old..."Hey, that sounds like so much fun! Oh, but I have to get back and tuck the kids into bed."

  19. Did you mean the opposite? We beat a very good Rice team, but Tulane is so off-and-on that I really don't see them beating Rice. So weird that they beat us and ECU, because they have lost some that they should have definitely won also. They're not awful, a la Southern Miss, but unless the refs cook up another tasty game for them I sincerely doubt that they can topple Rice.

  20. The early New Orleans Bowl required each school to buy 7,000 tickets and I'm sure that there is a ticket requirement for every bowl. I don't think that we would have any trouble meeting the requirement. If we can average 21K at Apogee and with more than 200,000 students and alumni in the Metroplex we should have about 30K at our first bowl appearance in the Dallas area. The problem may be how many will purchase through the school? The university gets the full $75 credit if purchased through our ticket office but I'd think far, far less if Stub Hub or other cut-rate vendor makes the sale. They could, in fact, get no credit at all since the bowl wouldn't know which school the purchaser was from. The weather could be an attendance factor but probably not a ticket sales factor unless everyone waits until the last minute to buy their tickets. If I'm spending several hundred dollars for tickets for my family then I'm going to do my best to be there for the kickoff. Weather conditions could dictate how long we stay but I'll take my chances. Not that many of the old Cotton Bowl games were played in horrible conditions.

  22. Can't see Rice beating Tulane, or especially UTSA dropping one to La Tech after what we witnessed last weekend. Of course, stranger things have happened...

  25. I was in line behind someone at Sam's furniture today, waiting to get Lance's autograph, and they asked him about the injury, and he just said it was "something he'll fight back from". And I know he will. It's something, seeing that smile of his, even after something like that has happened.

  28. It's a tough place to tailgate. I am not sure they have any spaces for visiting teams. The spots on the Chapman Commons (the big grass lawn) are reserved forever in advance (you have to buy them for the year) and they have not only electricity, but full cable TV hookups! ha! There are some other spots as well, but there are no big open parking lots or anything since it's in midtown. There will be lots of activities for kids and a band at the commons starting 2 hours before game time.

  30. I pray it's on tv up here...if so, I'll be camped out at Christy's on Orange for a solid eight hours or so...Arsenal v Cardiff City at 10est, Newcastle v West Bromich Albion at 12:30 and UNT at Tulsa at 2:30. Sports. and Sport, of course.

  31. fans still scared of UNT's shadow, would rather the team try to win on field and a loss in CUSA Championship would not have been as painful as the UTSA debacle

  36. I suppose this depends on what neighborhood you park in. We are closer than most campus parking to the stadium. And no it doesn't cost to park, it's just street parking. Although if you park on the wrong side of the street (look for signs) it could cost a lot.

  41. This is a glitch that comes across a few teams. However.... I'm still scratching my head as to why LaTech put their home bench on the visitor's side for the Homecoming game we played this year. Head scratcher with the sun and all. Also, a number of UNT grads worked game design for EA, hence why Apogee is fleshed out so nicely in the games... Still don't know about the phantom mountains in the background though.

  46. Pfftt. 21-year-old oldguy couldn't beat them away with a stick, dingy bar, hoity toity bar, or case of Lucky Lager in the living room watching Frasier. Hardly a metric. Come talk to me when you're 41. The game gets real then. (Actually still pretty easy, but with much, much, much more dire repercussion.)
