WR Jalen Adams http://sports.yahoo.com/ncaa/football/recruiting/player-Jalen-Adams-131619 Looks like we beat out a number of schools for him.13 points

I wish i had never seen this That is hilarious! I get the reference now and I am inclined to insult my own program as well. As a proud UTSA alum living in UNT territory, I would like to offer my apologies for some of our overzealous fans. Some of us must have a little too much liquid courage or are just plain delusional. We know that we are a fledgling program and our meteoric rise is the result of hard work and a bit of good fortune. I think we have the potential to be a respectable program, but there is still a long way to go in this journey. I respect the Mean Green and am glad to have them as an conference member. I hope we win on the 23rd but if not I wish UNT the best and hope they win the title.9 points

Didn't UTSA put up a bunch of junk points at the end of a blowout and still lose by 21 against OSU?6 points

It's not a self inflicted insult. Anyone who follows or has followed UNT knows that the history of this program has been to have a few really good years, followed by more than a few really down years. The insult is that for all the talk that UTSA fans like to do about how great their program is, how they deserve to be where they are, and how heads are going to turn, you've won one game against someone with a winning record. You will win some more in the future, but you're not a big deal, and that's why you're not respected by a majority of this fanbase or any other. If you came at it humbly and more in line with reality, that you're a very young program, you're ecstatic to be a part of CUSA, and the future looks like it could be bright, I don't think you'd run into much resistance outside of the few who truly resent being associated with a startup program. Truth is that your fanbase approaches most situations like this is your training ground for being in the Big XII or SEC in a few years and that no program's history matters because you have none, and it's off-putting.5 points

Well, Combs isn't on the team this year. Seems to be a pattern of defenders of Benford not knowing a lot about college basketball.5 points
-
Disagree, CUSA needs to have Marshall in the title game. ECU is leaving the conference, so for the long term heath of the conference, it is best if they are not playing for the whole thing.5 points

I will come on here and eat my crow if UNT doesn't win by at least 10. If UNT loses, I will wear orange and blue for a picture and post it to my facebook with the caption "UTSA is the king of CUSA"4 points

I read the last several posts, and I think what I'm hearing is that UNT claims to have a better overall program (due to alumni donations, stadium on campus, etc., etc.)... I tend to agree on those points. However, bear in mind that UTSA does have a brand new practice facility on campus, along with playing at what can still be considered an excellent venue at the Alamadome. All that is fine and dandy... UNT may have an edge in overall program quality (so far). My point is... who cares?? I mean really? woohoo, have a cookie and some fruit punch and smile over that edge. All I care about is who has the better team with the better day on the field on the 23rd. IF the discussion moves along from overall program quality to overall 2013 team quality.... well then I'd say hell yes. Hell yes these two teams are pretty dang close to each other.... and as I have predicted, those of you who think otherwise will be surprised and very displeased with what happens on the field on November 23rd. Win or lose (I personally think we'll win...in a very close, hard fought game), we will collectively extend our hand to thank UNT. Why? Well, let me try to explain. The UTSA team does not view anything it has been blessed with as an entitlement. We know we are very blessed to be in the position we are in. What we see in each game... scratch that, on each PLAY is an opportunity. An opportunity to show what the team has worked so hard for day in and day out throughout each year of its existence... An opportunity to be on the same field, play with, and beat teams that we grew up knowing about... An opportunity to prove to others, and to prove to ourselves, that we are not "too small, or too slow, or too whatever" to be a Division I football player. An opportunity to "shock the world" so to speak. The vast majority of our team would not have the opportunities presented to them had USTA football not existed, or had they chosen to compete for a position elsewhere (all our starters have started or had significant playing time since the day they walked into the first practice). On the 23rd, the opportunities will abound. All kinds of personal opportunities play in, and play out... and huge opportunities should the collective sum of the team effort yield a win. Life is all about opportunities, and this particular game is filled with them. You can bet that our boys will be chomping at the bit to "get theirs" on each an every opportunity that presents itself. We may win, or we may lose... but what you'll see on that field will assure you, UNT fan, that this team exerts more effort than any other opponent you've faced. Be that as it may, most of you will still hate on us (especially if we beat you)... but just maybe, a small percentage of you will see the fire this team has, and yes... maybe, we'll earn your respect.4 points

Former Dallas Cowboy Super Scout Gil Brandt On University of North Texas Apogee Stadium: "It's a Taj Mahal. It is an unbelievable facility. I think I've been to every college stadium that's ever been built and this is really, really something special. I came up here a week ago just see it, and the attention to detail is unbelievable......... ___________________________ Former Big 12 Conference Interim Commissioner & NCAA Consultant Chuck Neinas Quote On Apogee Stadium: " I would say based on what I know about facility construction, they are getting a [great] deal for $78 million. It will be a top-notch venue that will complete their athletic complex." ___________________________ It is what it is... GMG!4 points

Most people on here know that I like doing research and plugging the numbers into spreadsheets to come up with some interesting statistics. I decided to turn my attention towards UTSA football. Below is a list I compiled of wins that UTSA has logged against FBS programs with a winning record: Tulane Here's a graph I made: This post has been promoted to an article4 points

No, he is a legit 6'6", Harry. But he was listed on the last GMG Basketball game roster as 6'9". I've stood next to him. He ain't 6'9"3 points

Words are important. Go back and read your post. It sounds like you thought he would be in uniform tonight. I'm glad you are not that basketball stupid. We disagree on the coaching ability of Benford. We will see who is right in the next couple of months.3 points

So on average, you have beaten just1 team with a winning record every year...3 points

Apologies for inserting a non-troll post --- So I've been to both. Whereas the opening UTSA game was a pretty awesome experience -- 50K+ people going crazy -- the games with only 25K or so are kind of sterile. The Woman noted that it just felt more alive at Apogee than in the Dome. It just doesn't feel like a college football game. Adding to the problem is the way the Dome officials try to make it like a Spurs game. Lots of arena-gimmicks and things. I'm sure a ton of that is necessary from a revenue generation stand-point but it sure doesn't a great experience make. The weather can suck in outdoor stadiums, sure. But count me among those who feel that football is meant to be played in the elements. It lends some momentousness to the games that take place in inclement weather. Also, they are easier to remember -- "that rainy game against MUTS, that cold-ass game against so-and-so" and so on. In the dome all the games are played at 72 degrees. It's great when you are trying to convince your wife that your kids should come, but the games all kind of run together. I'll hang up and listen.3 points

Marijuana addiction. Something people say to get their plea bargains reduced. The notion perpetuates the justification for locking people up for years and years and years. Same thing happened in the thirties. Before 1937, prosecutors would deal with defendants that if they testified being under the influence of the devil weed while committing their crimes, they would get lesser penalties or get let off entirely. This built a big stack of legal precedent that helped justify the criminalization of the drug. I won't argue that it's harmless to those who use it, but the justifications our government puts into prosecuting it and incarcerating its users are entirely fabricated; they are perpetuated by coerced testimony of "addiction."3 points

I talked to Dajon Williams for a little while today and said that he did end up getting a medical redshirt, but he seemed pretty optimistic about the opportunity to take the reins next season.3 points

I am glad to have yall as conference mates as well, Eastwood Eagle.Thank you for the warm welcome. Just the fact that we have an in state team to play every year (UTEP doesn't count) with fans that are passionate about their team and willing to stand up for them is awesome. The geographical beef (North/South TX) makes it feel even more intense. We have bitter posters on our boards as well, so its even if you ask me. While there may be some bitterness that spills over onto these message boards, come November 23rd, we will be glad to share the beer that fills our kegs with anyone, no matter if they are wearing orange or green. We take pride in not having too many fans that are complete asshats both on and off the message boards.3 points

Announcers mentioned that Ball State brought 5 busses full of students to the game. Think UNT would do something similar for the Tulsa game if we're playing to solidify 1st in the west and a spot in CUSA championship?2 points

This is exactly like the scrub who doesn't even own a car making fun of the guy who just bought a new civic. You can't make fun about anything going on with our stadium until you actually own one. I don't care if the car your cousin lets you ride shotgun in has spinners, IT ISN'T YOUR CAR!2 points

I was at the TSU/SFA game. The team that Kaspar recruited, developed and coached, beat the team that he inherited. Not much of a shock there. TSU only had a few minutes when they looked like they might be capable of winning more than four or five games this year. Here is the kicker, the TSU fans were happy. This is the best they have looked in years. If I remember correctly one fan told me TSU has only had one winning season out of the last 13. There will be 5-7 scholarships available after this season. Things could turn around quickly.2 points

Lost me when you threw out the "brah." What are you, twelve? Look at it this way. We have had civilized discussions with fans from many other schools this year except UTSA. The Idaho fans were great, came to Denton, were welcomed at our tailgate parties, etc... You and the 4 or 5 other UTSA fans that can't stay away from here are far from being anything close to those fans. I will chalk this up to learning how to be a fan of a D1 school, and your school and program's youth. UTSA will not score more than 20 on us. I would even be willing to bet they don't score more than twice on us, and our offense and special teams will not give up any scores. Comparing our d to Marshall's is a slap in our face. I've watched Marshall this year and their defense is awful.2 points
