  1. If you have not seen the full video of McCarney's Press Conference for the Monday after the Rice game, you gotta check it out. Coach Mac gets so emotionally charged-up that he apologizes for it. Now, that's rare. The man has total passion for what he is doing for our team and our university. Everyone should see this. http://www.meangreensports.com/ The video is at the bottom of the page.

  3. We also got the long series with Army ... so Army and SMU will make up half of our non-conference schedule for many years. * I don't know why people make a big deal that we still have an open game next year ... it's not a big deal at all. * Currently we have only 5 home games on the 2015 schedule. That may or may not still be correct. If it is correct I don't expect it to stay that way. Mac makes such a big deal out of having 6 home games I'm sure they'll work something out. Again, it's not something to worry about. * Of course, maybe worrying about our freaking schedule years from now IS worth it since it's hard to complain about the team ... or the crowds ... or the conference ... or whatever y'all usually complain about. So I guess if it's just have to complain ALL THE TIME then go ahead and complain about the schedule years from now. Or better yet, move over to the basketball forum. There's so much to complain about there it's like shooting fish in a barrel.

  4. I coached 3 kids last year who now attend UNT. I still communicate with these guys and they are telling me how amazing it is at UNT. The great thing I see about this, if every year you keep adding a class that has this pride for UNT it will only get better. We have strength in #s and a football team to be proud of is really helping matters. Also, we had a group of seniors tour campus 2day and they all fell in love with the school. Great things happening in Denton, TX. This post has been promoted to an article

  5. This just shows how out of touch most of these coaches are when they come here. They see 36K students, and 150K alums in the area and think if they go 6-3 the place will be packed. We have sucked for pretty much the entire lifetime of anybody coming to games now. We were good 10 years ago, but really only 1 season did we have a good record. And those other years we always struggled early on then romped through the crummy belt to get to a winning record. Add to that the terrible leadership and lack of vision on how to create engaged alums that the school have suffered from basically until the early 200o's and it's more like this. I'd bet most people who go to games are one of 3 things. Super loyal people in all things in life who love sports. Were students either during the early 2000's, the late 80's when we had big upsets, or the 70's when we were ranked. Recent grads. The post the other day about our attendance in games 4 -5 showed how well we really are doing this year. The fact we had almost 23K on Halloween and Thursday night is a minor miracle. Really this thing is headed in the right direction, but three things have to keep happening. 1. Keep engaging students like they've been doing 2. Keep scheduling winnable OOC games so we can be at least 2-2 into CUSA 3. Win!

  7. Maybe RV will take the recently opened job at Arizona State, or a resulting one in the upcoming chain reaction, and the new AD says "sorry, Iowa, but that ain't happenin'"

  9. I just think it is so cool that not only do we HAVE an unbelievable club section, but that it is almost always full. I came from years of living with fouts... where the "club" sections was a double wide trailer.

  12. Has anyone seen advertisements in Dallas or Fort Worth about homecoming this week? There's no doubt that there are enough UNT alum and general football fanatics in the DFW area that we can sell this game out - they just need to be informed about it! You can have a great product, but if people don't know about it, they'll never buy it.

  15. So scheduling a local team that has had 3(?) bowl years in the past 20 plus justifies numerous 5 game home seasons? No. We all were told OOC home games would draw more high profile teams in Apogee Stadium. It hasn't We have 2 money games and only 5 home games scheduled for 2015. Why? Like I said, this AD violated trust when he failed to get a 6 game home schedule in 2012. The second year in a brand new stadium. Look further down the line and you see how inflexible the scheduling situation has become. And I here people saying "Iowa has 9 conference game, they have to buy out one of their 3 OOC games. Maybe it will be us>" Why have we been put in a position to have to hope that a CONTRACT gets cancelled in order to have scheduling flexability? I'm warning you guys that SMU will be sold as an "alternate site home game". They really don't have a choice at this point in time. .

  20. What's special here is apparent nepotism. As revealed in Vito's latest post, while Lil' Leftwich was on a Championship run in PA, Sean Kugler's son was one of his offensive linemen. Kugler goes to UTEP, brings along Leftwich and his son. The only reasoning one could make for Kugler's decision is that he knows Lil' Leftwich and his ability, decision making, etc. far further than just his highlight reel, and probably more so on a personal level. However, that reasoning still flies in the face of logic. And our defense is going to apply a whole hell of a lot of logic in two days.

  25. We will have 24-26k. The ticket office will tell you sales are great and you got the last seat here or there when it isn't necessarily the case. Why? They hope this will give the impression tickets are going like hotcakes and you will tell your friends that they better get them now or they will miss out, hoping to drive advanced sales. And that's ok. Don't believe anything you here about tickets being sold out here or there unless you actually call the ticket office and here it as you try to buy a seat in that particular section.

  31. Thursday was an opportunity for me to go around campus during a school day for the first time in many years. It is still a vibrant and positive place. The stadium is an outstanding extension of the campus especially with the bridge. Wins at home definitely increase the energy level. I toured a lot of campuses with my son. UNT stands up really well in comparison.

Seems like that hard just stays around no matter what the topic. Just sayin' that maybe it's time to lighten up a bit...life is usually so much more enjoyable that way for both you and those around you. Not mentioning any names mind you.

  37. Typically you will not be able to find allotments of the MGC requirement section seats, visitor allotment seats and student section seats on Ticketmaster. So, using ticketmaster as a guide to which sections are sold out, or how many more remaining is kind of a crap shoot in my opinion.

  38. Completely unacceptable. Don't try to sell a F'n road game against SMU as a quasi home game. Do your damn job and schedule better.

  41. I hit most of the back of campus and Fry, someone else got the front, distributed to residence halls, ESSC/Oak, the Square, industrial street, and surrounding businesses. I have the Rec area of campus remaining and the front but this is a rough week for me to be doing this. So busy. Probably gonna coax my manager to letting me to put some at my Best Buy in Fort Worth, and maybe the Freebirds there and stuff. By surrounding restaurants I mean like Chicken E, Voertman's, etc.

  43. No, but you will be told that you are out of line and over-reacting. And them there will be a 5 home game season in 2015 and those same people will act shocked. Go here: http://www.fbschedules.com/ncaa-14/conf-usa/2014-north-texas-mean-green-football-schedule.php Then look and see how many home vs road games we have scheduled all the way up to 2018. You will realize that we have a 5 home game scedule in 2015 and zero flexibility to schedule any home games other than money games we pay for. But don't try and point it out to the look aid drinkers. And don't point out that RV refused to address the 2015 schedule when asked directly by Vito about the number of home games that year. Don't do it!

  45. Marshall has nowhere to go...they aren't going to the AAC becuase they bring no tv market. They aren't going to the MAC, either, because they left it years ago for CUSA. Marshall and Southern Miss are both stuck here...they have no market to sell other conferences. Probably the same for the future for La Tech and WKU, too, except they wanted this conference badly. UNT, MUTS, F_U, UTEP, and UTSA have the most potential to move upward, similar to Charlotte if they get off to a great start in CUSA in both sports. RIce can also move up, but only if UH ever leaves the AAC. Those schools represent DFW, Miami, Nashville, El Paso, San Antonio, Charlotte, and Houston. That is a lot of TV sets that USM, Marshall, La Tech, and Western Kentucky cannot ever deliver.

  46. What's with all the negativity about next year's team? O-line will be full of seniors, backfield will still be strong. Looking like we could have some great freshman WRs. Dual threat QB. On D, we are losing depth along D line and need to replace Orr which is hard but the transfer from Oregon could get the job done. Trice will also be hard to replace, but still have a strong secondary with Lee, Buyers, Jones, Whitfield. I think this team can be even better next year. Baylor lost RG3 but have still proven to be relevant. We can beat SMU at Apogee and already shown we can beat Indiana. I've already booked my trip to Austin so I can witness the upset in person. Whoever the 4th team is, they better be sure to get some $$$ b/c they sure as hell aren't getting a W
