Official poster approved by UNT. Posting these everywhere tomorrow and Thursday. Thanks to Michelle and the SAA! If y'all want to help, share this wherever you can on whatever you can. This is totally approved so do whatever you want, just share it and get the word out! I'd love for the AD to even share this is they feel so inclined! Just get this out there and let's get the place sold out.8 points

I just want a bowl game... Given the past 9 years... I don't care if we play TWU.8 points

Sorry if posted before. Stewart Mandel is projecting North Texas in the Heart of Dallas Bowl against Texas St!!!!! He is stating they would be a replacement for the Big 10 not having enough eligible teams. For the love of everything that is good and decent, PLEASE don't let this happen. Not sure what you guys think, but that would just be terrible. Yes it improves our chances of winning, but I want to see North Texas play a school from a BCS conference. http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/college-football/news/20131104/college-football-bowl-projections/?sct=cf_t1t_a15 points

I'm not. Derek has always been a winner. He now has a team around him that, like him, has more positives to his game than negatives. Dan McCarney says we are a run-first team. Fine. We are 9th in the C-USA in rushing yards per game. We are 3rd in passing yards per game. Our pass game is efficient. And, here is something important that is overlooked: our offense is third in the C-USA (behind ECU and Marshall) in 3rd Down Conversion % at 47.5%. Every record Derek has passed this season has come on a 3rd and at least 5. The idea that many people here had here before the season that we should go ahead and let one of the younger guys start to get them experience waas a slap in the face to every senior on the roster. Derek has led this team well, and has been able to lead this team to a bowl. How anyone can question him now is absurd. Do not be surprised when Derek is leading the team on the field for the Liberty Bowl.5 points

Can we just Oregon out and do the following: White helmet - green SOW Green helmet - white SOW Black helmet - green SOW Uniform rotations consisting of black, green or white tops with black, green or white bottoms. Yeah, that sounds great.5 points

Just back from the show.....let me add: ..UTEP has already bought two sections worth of tickets. Georgie predicted that we'd have the biggest crowd in Apogee history this Saturday. Sure hope so. Also, DMc is being interviewed by USA Today tomorrow....and will be on two national radio shows tomorrow.5 points

I remember similar crap being said about us from Colorado State in our first bowl game in 2001. We aren't that far along to be big timing people.4 points

I would not say he even manages the game well. A game manager doesn't have a TD/INT ratio like DT has. We have won numerous games bc of our special teams and defense. Has he improved from last season? Yes. Does he still make too many mistakes? Yes. Does he still have accuracy issues? Yes. You can say he's thrown for blah blah yards, and has "X" number of 300 yd games but if you actually watch the games you can see that there is room for improvement at the QB position.4 points

So the kid is setting records and the staff doesn't trust him? The receiver lets the ball bounce off his hands and you "don't trust Derek". Get grip. He has put the team on his back a couple of times this year. Ball State anyone? He is a spread offense QB that has figured out a way to fit within a conservative offensive style and clearly establish himself as a leader on the team. #hatersgonnahate #cantfixstupid4 points

If it is the pick I'm remembering, it was tipped by a defender. Not a great thing obviously but not like he threw it right into the defenders hands. I'm done complaining about Derek at this point. He's come way too far and improved enough to where I'll just say I'm cautiously optimistic about his progress and leave it at that. I'm more worried that Dajon's injury will leave him without necessary in game experience for the start of next year. I'm hoping his injury (do we know what it was, officially?) will resolve itself in time for the last of the season so he can play in some mop up time.4 points

This is indeed the golden age of athletics at North Texas! I've been here since a few years after Josh Chilton and this is the best. My reasons are: 1. Support by the administration. I thought that we had it when C.C. Nolen was president and he did his best to provide Hayden Fry with what he needed to succeed but the Board of Regents shot him down. However, Dr. Pohl started the support of athletics and with each successor the BOR became more susceptible to funding success. That meant funding the Mean Green Village, the Athletics Building, stadium bonds for Apogee, and larger salaries for all coaches. 2. Better financial support from donors. The Mean Green Club is slowly growing and several million dollar donors have come forth. Financial challenges such as a basketball practice facility, volleyball center, soccer field improvements, basketball floor, lighting and scoreboard, academic learning center, pedestrian walkway, football practice field and others are quickly met. Enough donors have appeared to restart the baseball program. 3. Students have and are stepping up. Face it, there would be no new stadium or increased athletic budget without the support of the students. Their attendance at football and basketball games especially have encouraged other previously non-committed students and alumni to become more active. Even the attendance at the so-called minor sports is holding well compared to others in CUSA. 4. Every sport that we sponsor seems to be in the upper half of the new conference except men's basketball. We are getting better coaches and paying them more. Women's soccer, women's tennis, volleyball, men's and women's golf, and all of the running sports...indoor track and field, outdoor track and field and cross-country all had winning records and swimming and diving should follow suit. 5. Although attendance may still have a few years to go to reach capacity, each succeeding year has edged up a little over the previous. The multi-year scheduling of SMU and Army should help that upward movement. 6. Spirit is really picking up. Last game the crowd of 23K was the LOUDEST that I can recall ever.4 points

Here we go again. Up next, UTEP. http://www.utepathletics.com/sports/m-footbl/mtt/utep-m-footbl-mtt.html I'll kick us off: Paydirt Pete Johnny Ringo from Tombstone + Baby Constipation face I'd really hate to see this thread derailed into complete nonsense/foolishness. By the way... did any of you see those uniforms the Green Brigade trotted out there last week?!? Talk about your lack of pageantry. I was so embarrassed. Also, I think we should refer to Rick Villareal's support of Tony Benford as "THE STAND". What do you guys think?3 points

I've had season tickets since 2006 and I routinely rock the Mean Green wardrobe. I have about ten caps, several polos, Jerseys, and at least 20 t-shirts. I can't tell how great it is for people to stop me and ask or comment on the success of the Mean Green. I used to not be able to give any tickets away if I had an extra one or two and now I have people asking me if I have any to spare. Let's keep it going. People are finally starting to take notice. It is somewhat funny to see those alum in the work environment who generally slam the MG and root for other schools squirm a little bit. They want to jump on the bandwagon and be a front runner, but do not want to be called out. My response; I just give a shirt and schedule and say welcome aboard or welcome back. Go Mean Green!3 points

I don't give a crap who we play or who turns the channel. I think it would improve the chances of packing the house and improve the chances of us winning the bowl game. This would be absolutely fantastic for our program and outgoing president. Bring on the cats! Eagle + Cat = Eagle...always.3 points

Really, one year and we are calling this a terrible conference and declaring that it is time to leave? Let's let the paint dry and see what we have in a couple of years. Plus, you make it sound so easy. We should just give them a call and they will let us in. A one year bowl streak after a nine year drought? SOLD! Sign here.3 points

That matchup would be the perfect example of the term "North Texas Luck"--as in there ain't much history of having any... We finally have a good team for the first time in a decade. We finally have a local bowl game who is clamoring to have us be in it against a Big Ten team. ANd SMU and TCU are nowhere to be found in any bowl predictions. And this would be the year that the Big Ten, now having twelve teams, cannot place a bowl team here when all you have to do is win 6 games...and that leaves Texas State as the opponent for a 10am New Years Day Game in Fair Park. In keeping with said "North Texas Luck" meme, it will probably be about 25 degrees and sleeting, meaning the big ass Cotton Bowl will have about 250 people in there to watch the game...3 points

UNT is 6-3 and tied for first place in the division, apparently DESPITE DT's efforts. What a crock. If you want to beat the guy up for throwing INT's, fine, but the team has won 4 straight, DT has outgunned a couple of QB's considered "better" than him, and is setting or threatening school all-time records. At what point do you let the kid play without wringing your hands like a woman over what he "might" do? #kindasucksman. Where was the criticism of WR last year when DT had jack spit to throw to? Oh yeah, there wasn't any.3 points

I'll say this about the black unis. The playets looked like natural athletes. They were beasts! In the white unis they just looked more pedestrain, kind of a lunch pail feel to them.3 points

Look at us talking about trap games! it brings a tear to my eyes...... Bring it in guys, lets hug it out. Been a long hard road.3 points

Totally OK with this. We get two of the remaining CUSA teams that weren't playing middle school recess pickup games last season, even if UAB isn't the most marquee of names, it's definitely more recognizable than, say, it's cousin Troy. And Southern Miss is Southern Miss. They'll pick up again.3 points

Wow, if this is what we get from UTSA fans when we aren't even playing them, this place is going to be absolute hell for the two weeks after UTEP.3 points

Thanks we need a lot of help and chances are unlikely but hopefully we at least become bowl eligible. That one td loss to Rice hurt The Rowdy Burger was the same price as a regular burger at Sonic. The edible logo was a good move an a lot of people got behind it. Burger was good but beef, cheese and brisket usually equals mud butt. This was no exception. I was kidding about the free tickets although that type of marketing campaign has worked. Even the KFC promotion that gave a family pack of tickets only resulted in negligible attendance. The whole point was to to get non UTSA followers or non football fans to the dome to enjoy a Saturday afternoon. We may have earned an additional 500 people a game (upper deck) tops. I even knew someone at work that went to game on a KFC ticket had such a good time and purchased season tickets. Everyone hates on the idea but you have to get consumers to buy your product before they will buy it. You can't just rely on students and alumni when you live in a populated city. Look at Tulane (SuperDome) and Georgia St (Georgia Dome) who struggle mightily with attendance. Why are they not marketing to the city to try and earn new fans?3 points

Ok, Mister I Need To Throw My Marineness Into A College Football Argument As A Forcefield Because I Can't Win The Argument Otherwise, Ya, you are a REAL tolerant mod on that CUSA board, aren't you? Dropping the ban hammer when people point out in a funny way that UTSA hasn't done squat facility wise and has been gifted a spot in CUSA because of a TV market, which is just simply THE TRUTH. You're the most overly sensitive, look at me I'm a marine bow down to me Internet jerk to ever come through these parts. And that's saying something.3 points

Your duality is funny. Let's get this straight, one post you tell people here that they can't say what they want, then you get butt hurt, present your resume, then post you can say whatever you want, followed by your Stuart Smalley style Daily Affirmation about how respected you are and are definitely not trolling because you don't hide behind multiple nonsense internet names. Gotcha ya. Thanks for stopping by. We appreciate what little to nothing you bring to our UNT football conversations.3 points

So let me get this straight. Their board operator organizes fun group outings via creative, well placed advertising. We get advertisements for penis enlargement, Russian/Asian hookers, and an opportunity to earn an online degree in how to empty used bedpans.3 points

How can the SOW NOT stay now is the question. I believe future Unis will be green but SOW stays...green, white or black. Regardless...those uniforms are killer. They look aggressive which matches our players.3 points

Most school owned stadiums don't allow kegs and glass bottles.. Kegs take too much work anyways and the cost is the same after waste/ ice/ cups3 points

If they can get a white SOW (no outline) on the regular uniform, I'm all for rotating them. This uniform looked so sharp on Fox Sports Live and Sportscenter. I'd also like to see them come up with another new uni if we go to a bowl game.3 points

Do the math. 3 million raised for basketball. how much is it stated that the video boards cost? How much to remodel the practice facility. There is a lot of space between those numbers and 3 million.3 points

That tackle on the sweep left was a thing of beauty. Not only does this defense hit as hard as anyone in the nation, but they can tackle well. I love the attitude they have. They went into The Stand saying, "That's cute that you got to the 2 yard line and s**t, but that's all you get. You're going to regret the next five minutes of your life.".3 points
