I was reffing basketball yesterday and a Rice football player was there watching his brother play. I went over to say hi and say sorry for the loss...he said we were a tough team and he thought our stadium was really bad ass and loud as hell. Said he couldn't believe the sound coming from that size crowd. Really nice kid, and I told him to take care of Tulane for us.13 points

I was in the Academy sports store yesterday with my wife and daughter. The daughter and I had on our NT shirts. The girl in line behind us asks "Do you go to UNT?" I explained that I was an alum and she says "We're bowl...worthy, or something...now". I asked if she was there Thursday and she said yes and that she couldn't wait for Homecoming. Said there is quite a buzz amongst her friends who "aren't really football people" normally.10 points

Absoutly hate this uniform. I am ex-military and I support the idea and the mission of the uniform, however, it is in direct violation of the US Flag Code. Have some respect for the flag that people have fought and died for... Do not use it as a prop. (j) No part of the flag should ever be used as a costume or athletic uniform. However, a flag patch may be affixed to the uniform of military personnel, firemen, policemen, and members of patriotic organizations. The flag represents a living country and is itself considered a living thing. Therefore, the lapel flag pin being a replica, should be worn on the left lapel near the heart.6 points

Shame on you sir. San Antonio is a great military city and we are proud of those who have served or those currently serving for our country. Every memeber of the Air Force attends basic training at Lackland AFB. Want to be a pilot? Most likey you will learn to fly at Randolph AFB. Ft. Sam Houston is a historic base that still provides medical training to our service men and woman. Brooks Army Medical Center now called San Antonio Military Medical Center (SAMMC) is a level 1 trauma center and one of the best burn units in the county. Many IED victims end up in SAMMC when they get back state side. Since UTSA is San Antonio's team I think we more than earned the right to wear America's colors on our helmet.6 points

I honestly just love that our schedule for the last half of the season is: @ La Tech @ Southern Miss Rice UTEP UTSA @Tulsa instead of: Louisiana-Lafayette @MUTS Arkansas State South Alabama @Louisana-Monroe @Western Kentucky5 points

SOW needs to be on the helmet. Most Div.1 university's have three or four uniforms. Lets add this one to the rotation.5 points

I've had season tickets since 2006 and I routinely rock the Mean Green wardrobe. I have about ten caps, several polos, Jerseys, and at least 20 t-shirts. I can't tell how great it is for people to stop me and ask or comment on the success of the Mean Green. I used to not be able to give any tickets away if I had an extra one or two and now I have people asking me if I have any to spare. Let's keep it going. People are finally starting to take notice. It is somewhat funny to see those alum in the work environment who generally slam the MG and root for other schools squirm a little bit. They want to jump on the bandwagon and be a front runner, but do not want to be called out. My response; I just give a shirt and schedule and say welcome aboard or welcome back. Go Mean Green!4 points

It is amazing to me that this far along in the season we are really healthy! Props to Coach Wintrich! Give him a raise!4 points

I know this is floating around in other threads, but I feel it needs its own. http://www.cbssports.com/collegefootball/rankings/bcs We're the #49th ranked team in the whole country in the one poll that actually has any meaning or worth. This is awesome.4 points

Forgot I was going to post this last weekend. I was at the new Dick's sporting goods in the Heritage area of Keller - and I was shopping with the family and wandered over to the shirts section or what I typically call: "UT and TAMU love fest section with absurd amounts of those schools with some TCU and Tech sprinkled in" And what do my eyes witness!?!?!? wait for it... wait for it.. AN OASIS OF MEAN GREEN GEAR ON THE FREAKING END CAP SECTION BEFORE YOU GET TO THE OTHER STUFF!! Yes I am not making this up I took a picture with my computer-phone.... awesome!4 points

It's not just that we're all of a sudden winning. It's that we're winning by hitting so damn hard that the opposing teams are slinking out of the locker room for the second half with fear in their eyes. I don't know if I've ever watch a football team wherein I've thought to myself, "Alright! The other team has the ball!"4 points

Also pulling for UTSA and their National Championship cheerleading squad. The enemy of my enemy is my friend. Tulane is my enemy. So, this week, UTSA is my friend.4 points

I don't care of this is trolling. I want a Coach Mac Fathead. A big text bubble saying "ARE YOU KIDDING ME?" would make it better.4 points

We all know UNT90 well and find his dilusionary comments entertaining. All in good fun and every fanbase has someone similar By the way, we no longer do the KFC deal anymore. Its now Sonic and the "Rowdy Burger" I bought one and got 4 free tickets, a UTSA koozie, his and hers tshirts, 2 vouchers for free drinks at the AlamoDome and a Coach Coker Fathead for my wall.4 points

Just so we're all clear. Rice plays UTSA, beats UTSA and they bring their best. Rice plays NT, NT beats Rice, and they didn't bring their best.3 points

A whole lot of teams, especially their offenses, leave Apogee without showing their best product. Why do you think that is? Which is the mostly likely: 1) A strange confluence of solar flares and the North Texas area mountain cedar pollen? 2) Apogee was built over a Native American burial ground? 3) A vast right wing media conspiracy? 4) North Texas is a pretty good team?3 points

At one point in time it was a commuter school, but now there are as high a percentage of beds on campus as almost every other school in the state. A significant number of people after that live in Denton city limits. I hate when people act like other schools have 25,000 people living on campus. That's not the case anywhere. Just complete ignorance.3 points

Overstatement. Definitely good student attendance. I think we see a slight drop this weekend in student attendance, but it will be made up by a much bigger increase in attendance due to winning football and homecoming. I have 4 college friends that I have been trying to get to a game for forever who are coming for the UTEP game. And they called me. Interest is up a little nog alums, at least in my little slice of the world, but mist keep the momentum going for this to continue. Winning out is vital to this program for so many reasons3 points

I just purchased two single game seats to the UTSA game from Tori in the ticket office. I asked if the phone calls for tickets has increased since the Rice game. She said the phones have been ringing non stop since 830 AM this morning.3 points

Roadrunner fans think we hate them. I've always said they were confusing a lack of respect with hatred. What was to respect? They are the beneficiaries of a lot of built in advantages for a start up program. Talent? - Located in a recruiting hotbed state, Lots of kids get overlooked and others want to transfer Stadium?- don't need to build one, We got the Alamodome sitting empty most weekends of the year. Conference?- No need to toil away in Div II, FCS, Sunbelt- Conference realingment is here and CUSA needs a warm body to fill an empty post. Fans? Market?- Only top 10 city in America without professional football or a FBS college football team. UTSA has been the ultimate Right Place @ Right Time. Anything they had wasn't earned or built. They had it handed to them. BUT that has changed. UTSA has taken their built in advantages and expanded on them. They have built a decent football program in a short period of time. A lot of teams have potential. UTSA is actually captializing on theirs. I for one am happy they are a conference mate. They've earned respect.3 points

There are less tickets available right now for UTSA than there are the UTEP homecoming game. They are bringing people to that game.3 points

I was in Houston this weekend and got stopped multiple times. Was in line to get a piece of the Astrodome and we had a nice long conversation with an old alum from the Fry years who hasn't been back since the 70s, who is attending the UTEP game. "That Rice win was one of the biggest ever for that program," was his words.3 points

Loses by Tulane makes life better for NT. As a side bonus, the American Conference will be adding two teams that lost to what is effectively an expansion team. That will lower the initial strength of schedule for the entire conference. I was not happy about UTSA moving up instantly as it diluted the FBS brand. But that discussion is over, they have moved up. And if they win, then they are not diluting the brand. Getting help in to win a conference makes for very strange bedfellows. Alabama sometimes wants Auburn to beat LSU. Texas is thrilled OU won over Tech. And NT would be better served by a UTSA win over Tulane.3 points

This Marine Veteran and Iraq War Veteran says otherwise. Let me know when you put on a uniform, go fight in another country, lose 13 of your close friends and learn the real meaning of fighting for the American flag. Until you do that, you have no right to tell who can and can't wear anything resembling an American flag.3 points

Not correct... It is more important to look at the high and low score that gets eliminated than the overall average... I would strongly encourage all fo you to read up on how each poll works. That info can be found here: http://www.bcsknowhow.com/tag/explanation From here on out, things will get pretty tight. But just remember that if we win out we stand a pretty good chance of hosting. The bigger question will be can ECU beat NCST and Marshal. If they lose either game and we win out we should host. No one else on the East really stands a chance to host if we win out and Rice beats Tulane or Tulane drops another one besides ECU.3 points

I don't believe this will happen. But if UNT were to beat Notre Dame in a bowl game, look for sellouts or near-sellouts next year for every game. That would be the largest win for this program in history and it wouldn't even be close.3 points

ND v NT would be amazing. Also, since we are about to beat up on the Methodists for 12 years, beating ND would be a good way to show the other Protestant denominations that it's nothing personal.2 points

At the end of the day, the more games that other CUSA Texas teams win, the more credibility the conference has with HS recruits. I really don't want to be the best Texas school in a conference where terrible Texas teams play. I think it helps us in the long run if our Texas brethren are also strong/cool. We just have to work hard to stay stronger/cooler.2 points
