We all should have learned as children that having such a profound hatred for the roadrunner never ends well.8 points

This may be the best quote yet regarding "The Stand" that I have seen....Sunday Dallas Morning News...Kevin Sherrington"s A La Carte"...page 2C...Sunday DMN: "North Texas' eight-play goal-line stand in the fourth quarter against Rice in the Mean Green's 28-16 win on Halloween was the best traffic stop since the Berlin Wall." He goes on to say..."Dan McCarney has done a terrific job at UNT in his third season." Be still my heart. I love this stuff! Great to see UNT getting such positive press...even three days after "The Stand".6 points

What? Of course it does. The syllabus clearly stated that would be on the test!6 points

Just got done watching the game tonight off of DVR. It's so amazing being with Fox instead of ESPN. They treat us like a real program instead of an afterthought like ESPN always did, even in the bowl years. Announcers are great and knowledgeable, there's a sideline reporter, highlight reels, and a recap of the game to lead off Fox Sports Live. Also those uniforms looked so amazing during the broadcast, every single part from helmet down. Is there any doubt that the move to Conference USA isn't the best thing to happen to this program in decades? Edit: and ANOTHER recap, this time with a post game interview with Mac? I'm so impressed. And a third recap with Zach Orr interview...5 points

When the "Bowl Era" was going strong, I was a recent NT grad. I had been going to games for 5-6 years, became a season ticket holder, and was thinking that bowl games were just going to be the norm at NT. Taking the bowl run for granted, I never made it to any of them. I always had something in the way, and just assumed it wasn't a big deal because I could go the next time I had a little extra money, or when it was easier to get off work, etc. Nine years later...I've now also gone through one of the most painful times in NT history. I'm posting first to tell everyone to enjoy every minute of this season. Go to games, read the articles about NT, tailgate, brag to your buddies about NT, etc. Second, go to the bowl game if there is any way humanly possible you can. My wife is not a big football fan, and she has seen me go through the dark days, and has seen my regret over missing those bowl games, and has pretty much insisted I go wherever it may be short of Hawaii. Finally, those that are in my boat, and took those bowl games for granted and didn't get a taste of that time, share with the new group of fans and lets all enjoy this as much as we can!!! Go MEAN GEEEN!5 points

ND v NT would be amazing. Also, since we are about to beat up on the Methodists for 12 years, beating ND would be a good way to show the other Protestant denominations that it's nothing personal.5 points

As much as I'd enjoy that I'd prefer a more beatable opponent at this stage in our progression. Than again, sometimes you just gotta let your nuts hang.5 points

We win out, Tulane loses once more and we are in the C-USA Championship game. Need ECU to lose once to host Championship at Apogee.5 points
-
In order of importance: 1) Beat UTEP 2) Beat UTSA 3) Beat Tulsa 4) Tulane loses at least 1 more 5) ECU gets upset at least once before Marshall; if only once, then Marshall beats ECU 5a) Marshall gets upset at least once before ECU; if only once, then either ECU must be upset at least once and lose to Marshall, or upset twice and beat Marshall This would give us home field advantage for a title game! No counting chickens before they're hatched, but this is the road to pack Apogee and have home-field advantage. I suspect that if we are tied with the East leader that they will still have a higher BCS ranking for us (that's the tiebreaker for the title game home field, right?).4 points

We all know UNT90 well and find his dilusionary comments entertaining. All in good fun and every fanbase has someone similar By the way, we no longer do the KFC deal anymore. Its now Sonic and the "Rowdy Burger" I bought one and got 4 free tickets, a UTSA koozie, his and hers tshirts, 2 vouchers for free drinks at the AlamoDome and a Coach Coker Fathead for my wall.4 points

I don't believe this will happen. But if UNT were to beat Notre Dame in a bowl game, look for sellouts or near-sellouts next year for every game. That would be the largest win for this program in history and it wouldn't even be close.4 points

Hope Tulane beats them by 30. Wish it were 70. Rice will beat Tulane. We don't need Roadkill's help. For anything. Ever.4 points

Good point. IF WE WIN OUT: If Rice wins out, we tie them and win head to head. If Tulane wins out, we tie them and they beat us head to head. No matter what, we need Tulane to lose again. They have: @UTSA (25% chance of losing) UTEP (10%) @Rice (60%) Most likely, we need to win out, and we need Rice to beat Tulane. First things first, bury the Miners.4 points

For very selfish financial reasons, this is the bowl I want if we are not playing in the Liberty Bowl. Hell, I wish we could win CUSA and play in the HOD bowl. Norte Dame would be a dream match up, not to mention a VERY intriguing football match up. For recruiting purposes, I think this is the much better bowl for us. More local publicity.3 points

is that the alumni side fills up before the team hits the field. The student side looks great and they have done their part but it's embarrassing that people are still filing in even after kick-off. C'mon folks. How great for the team to see both sides filled when they come on the field.3 points

I'm bringing a good friend and coworker who's a TCU alum and who spent last night watching the game from Champion Suite #5 to our UTEP game this Saturday. He told me this morning he's looking forward to actually watching winning football.3 points

This probably has as much to do with the coverage being on Fox Sports 1 - So much better than ESPN3 points

People here complain because we don't get a lot of press outside of Denton. Well, we have sucked so why would we even of wanted the press? This just shows, if you win, people will talk about you.3 points

My son was at the TCU game. He said he was kind of shocked that both teams looked smaller and seemed much slower than UNT. He said "Dad, North Texas would beat both of these teams." Since we are both North Texas grads, there was no need to debate over the obvious fact that UNT has a better football team than TCU.3 points
-
We've explained the hell out of it in the past. It will take time to graduate the current generation of students who support the program and slowly fill out the alumni side. it just seems that some people don't get that. I'm with everyone here. I want a freaking sellout, every game. But it will take time to convert those seats on the alumni side to butts.3 points

They may be better than expected, for now, but i'm not worried. We saw our team go toe to toe with Georgia there. We are still Ball State's only loss. Minus one play, we beat Tulane and Ohio. We just beat a higher ranked Rice who was going for their 6th in a row, on national TV. Our guys will take care of business.3 points
-
Can you blame them? If we lose to them UNT90 may burn down Apogee, or at least one of the windmills. Someone WOULD need to restrain me from swan diving off the club level.3 points

Correct. Six bowl slots this year. Rice, Tulane and us are eligible. So three left. ECU is a five, if they hold out against FIU that is the 4th, if not they will get there by winning one in 4 games. (TUL, UAB, NCSU, Marsh) Marshall is a five, have four games to win one. (UAB, @TUL, @FIU, ECU) MTSU is at 5, only have three games left, but should be able to win one. (FIU, @USM, UTEP) That is six. FAU can even become eligible if they win out. (@USM, NMSU, FIU) UTSA doesn't have much of a chance.3 points
-
Well, the possibility of a three-way tie is almost zero because Tulane and Rice will still play, so I guess now it's either Rice wins or Tulane loses in San Antonio.3 points
-
Did we just become bowl eligible for the first time in a decade or did we just win defeat the 49ers in the Super Bowl. If the team takes any opponent lightly, they will lose. We aren't out athlete-ing people, we are out working them. Continue to do that and we will be fine.3 points

After this weekend it will be a 3-way tie in CUSA West with Tulane holding the tie-breaker. If we win out, and Rice beats Tulane at the end of the season then UNT wins CUSA West.3 points

Two on the road before Baylor, so 3-9 isn't out of the question. Maybe they'll schedule us now? On the other hand probably not.2 points

Rice Schedule 16-Nov La Tech 2-2 21-Nov UAB 1-3 30-Nov Tulane 4-1 total 7-6 Tulane Schedule 9-Nov UTSA 3-2 23-Nov UTEP 0-4 30-Nov Rice 4-1 total 7-7 North Texas Schedule 9-Nov UTEP 0-4 23-Nov UTSA 3-2 30-Nov Tulsa 1-3 total 4-9 The above is an overview of the wins/losses within conference. As Tulane and Rice play the other, one will have to lose... so we're sitting pretty. Further, as far as wins/losses within the conference, we have the easiest opponents left. How sweet it would be to go to the CUSA championship game! #FingersCrossed2 points

Be nice to see how their team is playing right now and who they will have healthy for our Homecoming game with them next Saturday! I think it will be nice to see who are their play makers. Unfortunately I haven't seen them play all year2 points

Exactly how I feel about the band when they're in the stands. They have a couple things they do to prompt chants, and they'll play some stuff that I thought was played out when I was in HS (Hey Song, Hey Baby, etc), and then they'll randomly start playing some music that they want to play but no one has a clue what it is. I don't think they're bad in the stands, but they could use a better selection of recognizable music.2 points
-
When they play "Fly like an Eagle" I fly to the restroom and snack bar. No one denies that our band is musically sound, its just that they don't seem to realize they are at a football game and don't seem to understand what they are supposed to DO at a football game. The crowd is just not into you Green Brigade. You are wonderful musicians, but you bore us to sobs.2 points

Great idea! Wished I'd though of it. Now let me think of something stupid & dumb to post to change the subject of this thread. -102 points
