Kram assured me he personally saw RV settle the stalemate by walking across the Potomac and uniting the hearts of each parties leadership with his perfect, loving visage, and the promise of quarterly meetings. Oh, and this is for Kram when he reads this: Your Mother was a Hamster and Your Father Smelt of Elderberries! We are guaranteed to win now, bet the mortgage.6 points

UNT is an academic institution first. If the drive to tier one status is not at the forefront of this hire, the hire will be catastrophic to the University.5 points

Too bad I cannot help you get rid of all the -1's folks gave you for this post. Did what I could. While I do not think Bataille is an "idiot", I definitely would not want another like her AT ALL. And, yes, Dr. Rawlins has done a great job and will be missed. In defense of Dr. Bataille (and trust me...defending her in any way is very challenging for me) change agents are often the ones who suffer the most for creating an atmosphere of change. And, if Bataille was nothing else, she was a change agent for UNT.4 points

Chill. That's just someone who only knows UNT by our reputation, which is terrible right now. Not to mention, I'm getting the distinct impression that many (not all) of those associate with the Tech program think they can simply beat us because we are UNT. That's fine. Let's hope the La. Tech football team feels the same way.4 points

Not mutually exclusive. Until you can accept that maybe players need to be held accountable as well as coaches you will always have these types of issues when a player underperforms.4 points

Let's keep the vibes from MTSU going... http://www.latechsports.com/sports/m-footbl/mtt/latc-m-footbl-mtt.html I think there was only one legit look-a-like attempt: LA Tech Mascot: Dog w/bad underbite: I think the government shutdown was total bull-honkey. But I'm definitely mis-informed. Who can help educate me?3 points

You know your are in the very, very, small minority on Bataille. And if that woman is an "idiot" then god save the rest of us.3 points

"Think Apogee"... haha! That's great. I would roll with that. (Even taking it step further by putting "Welcome to Apogee Stadium" posters everywhere.) AND JUST IN CASE THOSE LOUISIANAN OFFICIALS ARE LIKE TULANE'S...3 points

I heard a liberal UNT professor wanted to debate Sax, but Benford cancelled it and replaced him with a poli sci student from Richardson Berkner. BUY TICKETS NOW!3 points

I read a few of the post game right ups for Tech and they have had a couple of heartbreaker losses themselves. They had several chances to beat Tulane like we did. But their loss to Kansas had to be a n ass kicker. Against Kansas they fumbled on Kansas' 2 yardline with 90 seconds to go in a 10-10 tie and then watched Kansas drive into position to hit a 50 yard field goal as time expired,... They will be tough, but I see our defense as the key to our success. Rick3 points

Man, I'm glad we have Coach Mac. I think he is key in this turnaround. Hope this is his last coaching gig and I hope we have him for a while.3 points

We are losing 12 to 14 starters. But more than that, we lose ALL of our on-field leadership. ALL of it. I can't emphasize how desperately I want to see a blowout early in one of these games and see a cluster of next year's team get some significant playing time. Rick3 points

. Roger Franklin was on the team as was Nikko and Clarke and Jacob, etc., etc. again, you throw everyone in the same pot to try to prove your faulty line of reasoning. Ok, officially done with you in this area. You absolutely REFUSE to answer a direct question that might call your faulty stubborn reasoning to light. I have said in several posts that Benford definitely had a part to play in last season's disaster of a season...look it up if you will...but, you will not even answer a simple question posed to you on numerous occasions. I have never denied the role that Benford played. That is the fantasy position you seem to want to place everyone in who dares hold the players responsible for their own attitudes and actions. I think that fact from you here speaks volumes and is plenty enough for me to just drop it. We'll all see how it turns out soon enough.2 points

Seems to me that I recall Secretariat doing what it took to be a winner...in spite of what said horse did or did not think of the current trainer. Talking solely about horses and all. I also seem to recall Secretariat being a triple crown winner. What did those other horses win that sulked, pouted and thought only of their next bucket of oats? Talking about horses just like you.2 points

too bad we can not hire a new chancellor that actually uses their connection for the good of the Denton campus. This is a huge hire for UNT on all fronts2 points

I'll admit...and I think a lot of you were in the same boat...that we signed a 5'8" 165 athlete to help lure his 6'0" 210 tailback teammate. Congrats to Brelan...I can't recall a player in my time following UNT who has me expecting something special every time he touches the ball. Now...let's get him the ball more.2 points

Sorry, Marty. MY stupid phone give your negative one instead of a plus one. AND yes that North Texas cheer was freaking awesome!!! I wasn't there so it was way cool to see it on TV and see the reaction from our players.2 points

I was surprised at how small it was. Around 20K. I believe it has grown to almost 22K now. North Texas has almost 29,000 undergraduates enrolled at the Denton campus alone. I have been impressed with what LaTech has accomplished athletically, being such a small public school.2 points

Mac loves playing upperclassmen and starting guys with the most experience. He also doesn't do a whole lot of lineup shuffling. The lineup that started the first game against LSU last year was almost the exact lineup that started the last game against WKU, save for receivers after losing Brelan and having Harris and D Smith overtake Bynes. This year the only switch has been at cornerback and that'll probably be the only change all year. For the rest of the time that Mac is here you will see a high percentage of our starters being upperclassmen. He hasn't brought in the highest rated recruits and until he does he will develop the young players until it is their turn to start.1 point
