  1. Called an excellent game tonight and has turned out to be a fantastic hire. I won't bog you down with stats the proof is in the pudding. I haven't seen a thread complaining about arm tackling once this season. That was a HUGE problem just a couple years ago. The defensive staff has done a solid job of putting these guys in the right position and letting them make plays. We have only allowed 17 total points in the last 8 quarters against two solid opponents. Skladany deserves a lot of credit for the progress we have seen defensively. 3. During the Bowl Era, as it was referred to on Beyond the Green, the NORTH...TEXAS chant was always my favorite. Nothing better than when it is done loudly by a good crowd! I've been telling my little brother, who is now an alum as well, about it for years but he had never really got to hear a good one...tonight we got a good one going! Great crowd, and if we continue to win games, ESPECIALLY a couple on the road, home games are going to be really fun if we get a few that matter towards the end of the season. Remember the New Mexico St. games? Can you imagine how much louder a crowd like that will sound in Apogee? CAN''T WAIT FOR AN IMPORTANT LATE SEASON GAME AT APOGEE...ITS COMING SOON!!!

  4. 10th win in 14 games at Apogee. From a student's standpoint a lot of students complain about Apogee and the cost of the stadium, but it has really been great on mine and a lot of others' college experiences. I for one am completely thankful for the payoff it has had early on and will for years to come. Awesome homefield advantage!

  5. That North Texas chant was epic. Crowd was loud, and energetic. We really could stop coming in so late and leaving so damn early though.

  6. Something to ponder at the midpoint of the season. Combined record for the first 6 teams we've played.........23-17 Combined record for the next 6 teams we play.................11-25

  7. ... still needs a unified beginning and ending. I'll donate a $100 towards the tuition of the student who pulls this near absolute impossible feat off. A signaled, unified start, then an ending. That's all I ask. Rick

  8. Did y'all notice the wear green or black promo for the rice game on Halloween. I'm really starting to think we will see a Black and Green Uni. This makes me a happy camper.

  10. I'm glad the cheerleaders finally took charge and did the chant how it's supposed to be done. Somewhere in the last 10 years we got students who thought they're supposed to say both North and Texas without waiting for the other side to respond.

  11. So let me get this straight. I'm the bad guy for saying meangreener consistently overestimates attendance numbers? I would have loved for there to be 25k there but I think the announced number was spot on.

  12. ...and it was a blast. So, it's been two seasons since I've truly gotten down and upfront with the Student Section - this is my first season as an alum though. My wife was feeling sick and returned home a few hours before kickoff, so I figured I may as well give the 'ole stomping grounds its chance. Saw some friends up front, settled in. OH MAN HOW I NOW REMEMBER WHY I LOVE THIS SECTION SO MUCH... Our heckling has wit and class ya'll. Whenever someone gets close to really going over the line with taunting, another fellow is quick to call out something a little bit more light-hearted, self-effacing, or universally funny which brings things into order and keeps the CPC folks off our backs. In fact, towards the end of the game, the two burly uniformed bros facing us were heartily chuckling or smirking along with every jest (love you two #7000 and #7008). That being said, the reactions on the MUTS bench ran the full spectrum of bemusement to indignation. I would like to thank one #73 OL Isaiah Anderson - JR for being a really good sport and becoming a lovable character there towards the end. On the flip side of that token, #80 WR Ed'Marquez Batties - JR needs to learn to behave in a more professional manner representing his beloved MUTS - single-digit hand gestures and profane language are not what make you PROUD TO PLAY WITH CONFERENCE USA TM. Hahahaha. Now all that being said... OH MAN HOW I NOW REMEMBER WHY I DON'T SIT HERE ANYMORE... I lost so much valuable game watching time having as much fun in those front rows. Sheesh! EDIT: ^^^ Oh man, I just turned into Plumm.

  13. How does discussing perceived attendance become construed as negative haters hating?

  14. I think this kind of talk is crazy talk. Counting on us to win 2 road games in a row when we have won 2 road games in 2 1/2 years is crazy. Counting on us to win 3 in a row when we haven't won back to back games in, what, 8 years? Is crazy. Beat La. Tech. Worry about S. MIss. after that.

  17. I'm beginning to think this MAY be the best defense in CUSA. They will knock the crap out if you and are really, really good tacklers.

  18. Announced attendance is always higher than actual attendance. It might have been closer to a legit 21k at this game.

  22. Beautiful night for football What a change from last years Muts game McCarney said he would run the ball And run, run, run the ball NT did Nice to see Jimmerson back NT 5 of 5 in red zone Having all five OL starters back makes a difference Best defense in the league? No long passes, barely any passes completed by MT Stockwell said he couldn't run or pass so he put in a run threat at QB It worked to a degree, QB Grammer was 15-106yds, rest of team 12-33 Gosh, did he pay for it on that last hit; hope he is ok Crazy stat: MTSU was credited with 12 TFL and NT only 2 Can't believe I was worried about NT's kicker and punter Great blocked punt Still can't believe anyone is still kicking to Chancellor Never saw a returned punt fielded behind the kicking team Still trying to figure how MTSU punter credited with over 42 yd. ave. Very good attendance especially with early rain Wrong game to be heckling McCarney McCarney could have ran up the score in this one Complete domination of game from first Qtr Two tds in 16 seconds Time to win an away game

  23. Coming off a really poor game plan in the first half which IMHO cost UNT a winnable game against Tulane last week, despite that, despite the weather, despite a big game locally (that HAMMERED the TCU attendance)...students showed up, fans showed up, Apogee gave you the environment you wanted for your team. You asked and the fans delivered. Now It's your turn. DO NOT go into the La Tech game with the same OVER conservative gamelan you did at Tulane, that you do at most road games. Resist your nature to gamelan your team into a shell on the road. Trust these players to make plays. Be aggressive early. These players have earned your trust. The next home game is going to be hard enough to get a big crowd. Give people a reason to come up there on Halloween night. PLAY TO WIN NEXT SATURDAY. The fans implore you.

  24. They definitely live up to the hype. Tony's balls are hot, savory, and fit perfectly in my mouth. Delicious! Thanks for sharing! We had home brew at our tailgate today, which was fairly epic. All in all, even with the brief down pour, it was a great day of tailgating followed by a total manhandling of a game in our favor. What fun!

  31. Today's Dallas Morning News Metro section headlines...upper right above the fold: "UNT, UT consider Beer Sales"... So AGAIN, UNT is in the papers...this time the Dallas Morning News regarding its beer sales opportunity. I am sure that by letting this out the usuals suspects will try to make someone negative of it, but just so a little more of the facts are known...and for me it is a sensible decision....the decision has been placed on hold until a new president is seated. The current prez, who does not drink due to his personal beliefs, does not want to make the decision and immediately leave the results to a brand new prez. While I am not excited about this bit of delay, it makes perfect sense to me and if I were the incoming prez I would not want this dropped in my lap. I would want to be part of the discussions. Maybe this is one way that President Rawlins can help move this along without a bit of a challenge to his personal beliefs. I don't know as I have not spoken to the man about it, but it is a big decision...one A&M and Baylor do not want to deal with...and probably should be made with the new president on board. Makes sense from the university's standpoint. Definitely want the new prez to be behind this proposal, no one who might come in and stop it before it could really get started. OK, cue the usual suspects who will do all they can to shed a negative slant. You know..."only at UNT, passing the buck, SMU has a great AD and can make decisions...only except he hasn't...always slow on decisions at UNT, our AD can't get anything done". I hesitate to post updates as everyone knows it will only fire up the haters to spew some more of their venom. But, think about it folks...this is both sensible and appropriate. Not a decision to dump on the new guy as a already made deal...might even keep a great candidate or two from applying seeing that UNT's leaving administration slipped this in just before they left. Would rather have the new prez completely on board with this then one who would look to stop it before it proves itself a good move...which, of course, it will.

  32. I still really want it worked into the beginning before the team runs onto the field. As loud as that was at the end with the game in hand, it is better at the beginning from the intimidation standpoint. It says, hey, welcome to North Texas road team. This is our house, and we are gonna be loud tonight. Doing it early, also gets both sides on the stadium in the yelling mood.

  39. Great game and an even better game by the defense. We're So Sexy! Middle is fortunate Mack drives in 1st gear cause this game could have been 50-0. I just hope if we return to Murfreesboro with a brand new team next year, and if we happen to have a bad game Stocktill returns the favor. Rick

  42. I was not able to make the game today, so thought I would have to miss it. But to my surprise it was on NTTV. I have to give the two announcers credit. They are better than what I have seen from the big networks this year. Knowledge of UNT football, and just doing a great all around job.

  48. Nice to finally have some company for one of the watch parties! An alumnus named John, class of 1969, was there in full support with his white UNT polo on. No MTSU grads came to visit. Funny thing though, he's friends with a guy from Middle and called him to tell him how cool it was to be watching the game streaming online at a sports bar. Apparently the guy used to live here but moved. Either way, it was good to see somebody excited about our move to CUSA and the fact that we can view most of the games this season. He had lots of questions about Apogee, the use of Mean Green more than Eagles, etc. It definitely helps people re-engaging their alma mater when they see a decisive win, too! Great game, Mean Green!
