Accountability doesn't exist at UNT. RV may retire with his best football team already a decade behind (2 decades by the time he is gone). That extension, particularly when it was given, tells you all you need to know about UNT athletics. Winning isn't important.4 points

Take a week off from the board. Enjoy this nice cool front. Swing by the game Saturday, have a beer and watch some football. Lifes too short....4 points

To be fair to the Defense, at least three of those penalties were and should have been no calls.4 points

Accountability Here are 4 areas I see as keeping us from hitting our goal of being Average – aka #Hit6 (after all 6-6 is average) Coach Canales – What happened to the man you lead us as an Interim HC. We do not have enough talent to play conservative. I have been a fan but if this is what it is its time for a change QB Play - I give DT credit for “being the most improved player”; however the fact is that his best still puts him in at “average”. The problem is that there is not enough additional talent on the offense, or creative coaching to where this team can excel with "average" - or it seems even be average with "average". Are any of the others going to do better? I do not know, but I would like to see how they perform in real games under real game pressure. Stupid Mistakes – it’s not just the penalties it’s when we have them. Too many issues on plays where the stop would have resulted in a turnover or we are moving the ball. Where is the discipline? Coach Mac – God only knows how much I have wanted him to be “the one”; you know the one who was going to finally break through. He says the right things and I know he is motivated but the bottom line is we are not getting it done. Look, yes I am upset. I am tired of people not taking UNT Football serious. Every time we get to a point where people are thinking something is starting to change up in Denton we pull crap like we did today. So yes it does get frustrating – hell, it hurts. However, I will still be following and hoping years from now and will never stop loving my University.3 points

Hey, maybe we can get them to kick in some cash for RVs contract extension?? I mean, it's only fair.3 points

Another passive aggressive insult. You are so witty and intelligent! Voltaire pales in your illustrious shadow! When you were attacking UNT90 because he pointed out that our offense only scored 7 at Georgia you insisted our special team tds should be given full credit. But now, when you defend the offense you insist that Tulane special team and defensive td shouldn't really counted because they really aren't touchdowns. I must not be witty and passive aggressive enough to get your logic.3 points

I am really tired of your passive aggressive insults. No one thinks they are cute or funny. If you are going to insult someone at least have the guts to do it correctly. Like this: I hope you die of a horrible wasting disease.3 points

1)Here's an idea. Let's call a decent offensive gameplan for TWO halves. You called the offense like you had nothing to lose against Georgia and go into a shell against f'in Tulane?!!! Tulane is the 4th best team we've played. 2)Your defense played their best game of the year. They gave up 10 points (three on the gane's last play) and you lost? Ummm, wow 3)You're playing a fast defense so you run the ball sideways? 4)They've seen the screen before Mac!! 5)I wish I were flying home tonight. I may puke in my hotel room2 points

After driving back and reflecting, here we go: Those were probably the worst officials I've seen since following NT since 1997. Even the ruled no catch was PAINFULLY obvious that it was. That being said, we still should have won the game. I do not get the playcalling. We know Derek's strengths and weaknesses. This offense seems to move better when it is up tempo. WHY DO THE OPPOSITE?! Futhermore, you had 2 (TWO, DOS) weeks to put together a game plan, and that was the result? WHAT THE HELL?! This pick 6 wasn't Derek's fault. Tulane did their homework, they knew it was coming. This game was lost on the blocked field goal. I'm still trying to figure out how we can go from blocking for a field goal against Gerogia to, well, that. Tulane is not that good, we should have blown them out. This team could still win out. But coaches and players have to live up to their potential. As a fan, I am honestly getting to the end of my rope with these repeated kicks to the nuts. At this rate, I'm not sure if I will ever have kids anymore. I will always go to the games, but when you continously invest in 4-8 hours of tailgating, in triple digit heat it becomes a beating. When you travel to these road games and waste weekends, it becomes a beating. Let's not forget that this economy still sucks ass, and many of us spend what little money we do have to follow this team. We deserve better. Eff it. It's done, its over, and it's time to move on to Middle Tenneessee. We can still do this.2 points

"I had an interesting long talk with the father of UNT's backup QB last night at Pat O'Brien's (great place for meaningful conversation after a big win). Aside from dissecting the game, he made a surprising statement to me--he said our defensive line was better than Georgia's. Now I have no idea if that is true, but it sure nice to be on this side of the conversation for once. He also had strong opinions about our QB, but not sure if that was a bit of jealousy or frustration or both. Apparently his son was ranked highly in his national QB recruiting class in a group with a lot of well known QBs and Dad thinks he is not getting a fair shake (insert stage parent analogies here)" Interesting, but not surprising if true.2 points

The last time we joined a new conference, we lost the first conference game (in Louisiana), all seemed lost, then a solid MTSU team came to Denton.....2 points

We didn't play very well and as usual, there's some play calling concern, but the game pretty much boiled down to two big plays that gave up 14 quick points. We should have won this game and we would have if it had been a 5 quarter game. We simply ran out of time after having our usual slow start and then giving away 2 scores. I'm really bummed about this loss, since it shows that we really aren't as good as our hopes had led us to believe. As others have said, we really need to be successful this year since we will be losing a lot of seniors and we had a good chance given our favorable schedule. I think the worst part of this game is that we had the extra week off and still came out flat.2 points

Reading the box score, it looks like there was another impressive performance from Cap'n Pick-Six.2 points

I may be alone here -- and I've not yet had a chance to re-watch the game -- but I think our defense is pretty danged good; that's McCarney's strong suit. The offense seems to be the issue (accounted for 14 Tulane points, yesterday). This team is better than the record indicates. How much better, I don't know. Here's to a great game next Saturday against a former rival.2 points
-
9 win teams don't have something like 15 penalties and doesn't give up 14 points without the other teams offense ever taking the field. Pray for 6. I mean, that is the coach's goal, after all.2 points
-
This team plays well at home. I'm still expecting 6 wins. The unnerving part is knowing this team is better than what we saw yesterday.2 points

Mac is the head coach. Do you believe he's powerless to implement a gameplan? This is Mac ball.2 points

This loss hurt about as bad as I've witnessed in 65 years of following North Texas. Two weeks to prepare and we came out flatter than any pancake. Tulane has a good run defense and little else and we play right into their strength. Pathetic!2 points

Hard to be explosive if you can't get a run game going. I don't know about you, but I'd have a hard time calling plays with one hand tied behind my back. Last year we couldn't pass now we can't run.2 points

Why build we throw it deep? We would had once chance for chancellor to run it back for a Td which is very possible. I was thinking the same thing... We should have had at least a kick off2 points

My mom always said it is better to pissed off than pissed on. We need a consistent offense, I think it is Canales but whoever it is, we need to get it done.2 points

I'm right here... at the firehall working a double shift this weekend so I can be off next Saturday to watch my Mean Green defense hit Middle in the mouth. Defense wins championships,... always have,..always will. We have a conference championship caliber defense.. RIGHT NOW. They only allowed 10 points on 227 total yards today. I said they could win out and I still feel like they can and put us in a good place come December. Rick2 points

It did change. Just enough to give us a little taste of how it could be if the play calling was better for a whole game.2 points

Unless something drastically changes, I don't see us winning any road games this year. Tulane is not good. The road performance of this team is mind blowing.2 points

I think part of the one-dimensional game is related to the fact that we don't have Montana's dad at QB, and the coaches are a little scared to open it up too much. I'm not too sure what the answer to that is other than a different QB..1 point

Well in all fairness, this staff hasn't really won consistently anywhere has it?1 point

stop hurting and go win a freaking road game. playing down to your competition is not a firm standard. don't have standards made of jello. if you can go to Athens and play good teams and come up short, you sure as he*ll can go to New Orleans and play a weak team. they did enough to win so congrats to Tulane but unt needs to man up and win a freaking road game. they will have their hands full next week and if we go 2-4 the fans are not showing up in november1 point
-
Agree that there are issues on offense, but 21 from the offense was enough to win the game today. Big issues I saw today were the lack of a running game on offense, some pretty dumb penalties, a blocked FG attempt for a TD and a pick 6.1 point
