Saw him and Rob Evans at Mavericks practice yesterday, catching up with Jae Crowder. Benford and Crowder know each other from Marquette, of course. The three of them and Rick Carlisle looked like they had a nice conversation after practice. No significance, just was an interesting crossing of worlds for me that I figured I'd throw out there. Maybe he picked up some coaching tips.

It's pretty hard to drink the whole thing in one night if it isn't a Lite beer. 8 full bodied beers = nappy time. 24-30 lite beers = 15 hours of playing NCAA Football on Xbox. And then nappy time.

The driver that picked us up at the airport told us that he is a graduate of Tulane and that his wife is a grad of North Texas. GO MEAN GREEN

By the way,... If you missed the tU vs Iowa State game tonight you truly missed another classic Christmas In October for texas as their typical 12th man was in full giving mode. We are North Texas, not many people other than a coach or player are going to watch us. So they don't know until till one of our guys smacks one of theirs. Then its like oh my these guys can play. You have to throw out our yards giving up in my opinion. Look at the QB's that we have played so far this year: Idaho Chad Chalich - 1111 yards 4 TD's 0 Ints Ohio Tyler Tettleton - 858 yards 6 TD's 2 Ints Ball St. Keith Wenning - 1650 yards 9 TD's 3 Ints Georgia Aaron Murray - 1338 yards 11 TD's 3 Ints Two of these guys are going to play in the pro's. We have faced some pretty good offenses. So to just come out and say that our defense is a weakness is just not understanding the situation. Numbers tell one part of the story, but the film don't lie bro. You could very well point to our record and say that we are where we are because our defense has played well. Have they been perfect, no. They are though a lot better than the outside media gives us credit for.

They must have some hustband/father issues going on at Tulane. Feel for them. Todd's the right choice.

Appreciate y'alls comments. I enjoy doing the work. This week was a little pressed since my Browns were on last night. You watch Tulane and you wonder how they won 3 games. Honestly we should dominate these guys, but that's why they play the games. Conference road games are always tricky. If UNT stays focused and composed and plays the way they are capable of there should be no issues.

Excited about upgrades to SP and glad that baseball stadium project, if it goes forward, will include upgrades to softball stadium. Sorry, but RV has little creditability with me on the MBB situation. I have yet to understand how all these uncontrollable outside elements all occurred in Benford's first year and at least were not mentioned before. I do hope Benford is the coach that RV is defending, but it will take a lot more than talk to convince me that he can move the team forward. I expect them to be better than last year, but I don't want it to take years to get back to were Jones had plateaued the team.

I don't think I'd ever ask someone to leave my class, but I definitely reward my students for wearing green since my class is on Fridays. I also call out those who don't. I also award bonus points on the final if the students can sing the fight song and school song.

I just spent a half hour on the phone with DirecTV along with the general manager from Fairview Down Under. Per DirecTV, the sports package that includes FCS (the channel the game is being carried on) is not available for establishments that hold more than 100 people. My sincerest apologies to those that were planning on going to Fairview Down Under. Beware to those that are planning on watching at larger establishments. I suggest trying the smaller neighborhood bar type places.

I purchased a shirt Tuesday morning at 7am for my oldest son. He needed it for a college day at his school on Friday, so I paid an extra $13.00 for 2-day air with Fed-Ex. I get an email today, two days later, stating the shirt has shipped. I called Customer Service and it shows an expected delivery date of Monday, October 7th. I think I misunderstood what 2-day air is all about. Got a refund for the shipping and a $10 credit, but it doesn't solve my problem when I live in an area that doesn't sell North Texas merchandise. Needless to say, I won't be purchasing through meangreensports.com ever again.

Just so everyone knows, these were just typical tropical afternoon showers and have nothing to do with Karen. Rained for 30 minutes and then was gone.

Just got back to the hotel room. This sucks. I doubt they will cancel the game until at least Saturday morn. I think the stirn will fall apart and come in as nothing more than a tropical rainstorm with 30 MPH sustained winds, which we see all the time in Texas. I see a pretty fiercely-battled game going into the locker room and then North Texas pulling away late. I also believe that the hooks, slants and flat routes will be open early on, forcing the Tulane secondary to creep up and then "Chance" or "Smitty" will be open deep late in the game for a crucial exclamation point.
