I would like to sponsor or help sponsor an event called #Hit30K. If the players are trying to get to 6 wins so why can’t the fans/students/alumni have a goal to reach. The goal is to reach 30 thousand fans for a home game. I think it would be a great promotion. I’m open to idea’s to get this going. I’d be willing to donate some prizes to the event. The basis would be for fans to come to the game and get other fans to go to the game. They would take a picture at the game showing their fan support and send it to the organizers. The organizers would pick the winner and give them the prizes. The key is that there has to at be least 30 thousand in attendance at the game for the contest to be authentic. If it’s less than 30 the prizes roll over to the next home game until there are at least 30K in attendance. What do you think?11 points

I'm not trying to step on their toes or anything. Just trying to get something accomplished. So if they are mad or butt hurt that we as alumni pull together and make something special like this happen then I could care less. This is about our university our program. I didn't elect the people who make those decisions in the athletic dept. none of us did other wise we probably would have asked for a re-election by now. This is about doing something good and rewarding the players with a packed house.5 points

I'm up for whatever you want to call it. Just thinking of ways we can get people in the stands without having to write a strongly worded letter to the athletic department that goes no where. Instead I just feel like putting some responsibility on myself and any other alumni or students that want to get involved.5 points

Gagree. Although it will be nice to get some chores done on Saturday. By chores I mean sit on my couch all day and watch a bunch of football.5 points

Honestly, what are they going to do? I ain't afraid of no chiding. Bring it on. Set the goal high and stay with the 30k goal. Funny, this is the same board that criticizes North Texas for not setting lofty goals and now suggests lowering goals. Crazy.4 points

I love the #hit30k idea. If this is something that can get backing prize wise, I'll do whatever I can to get the major student groups on board. For sure Student Alumni Association (the group I advise) would promote it!4 points

I talked with Mark M recently about the possibility of opening up the Alumni Pavilion at the end of games. Fans could go there, have a beer or two, and celebrate / commiserate while listening to the George and Hank doing the KNTU postgame show and watch the days college game highlights. Another posibility would be to ask Evan, Harry and guests do their GoMeanGreen.Com postgame show live at the pavilion after the KNTU postgame show ends. Mark said that it was entirely possible for the future, maybe next year, that there would be minimal costs other than the required licensed beer servers, and that even modest beer sales would cover that. His only question was if this would actually be something that the fans would be interested in, and if it would create additional incentive for fans to join the alumni association. My thought was that events like this provide tangible benefits for current alumni association members as well as being an excellent way to involve potential members. What are your thoughts or ideas on this subject?3 points

Whoever that was should have told whoever did the chastising to F off. Seriously, someone help with attendance and is met with resentment? That person should be fired.3 points

A great idea but do be careful. One of our alums successfully set a women's soccer attendance record through a Facebook promotion...and was chided by our athletic department for his efforts.3 points

I think its a great idea. I'd be down for a couple post game beers before the bike ride home. Who knows about this Mark M. character though? Can we trust him?3 points

If Harry and Evan could get the post game show on KNTU and do it live from the Pavilion after George and Hank sign off, that would be awesome!3 points

Do the helmet shuffle. Put Brelan with three other recievers. Put a bag over them and shuffle up. Run to the line. They won't know who to cover. Just before snap, or kick. Take the bags off and see if they guessed where Brelan is.3 points

It there a special cookie we could bake for Benny as an award for his offseason head coaching ability? Ya'll remember how awesome Isiah recruited?3 points

Vic Trilli could recruit, but had not a clue about game coaching.3 points

This is true. But, a major concern remains: Retention of these players. 2 of the guys we signed this offseason are now at JUCOs. A guy that was signed last year (after booting a player to make room for him) is also gone.3 points

Along this topic, during TV games, there's usually an "advertisement" video that is run from each school and usually from the conference. Anyway, did anybody else notice in the UNT video during the Georgia game that it showed FB highlights in FOUTS!!!!3 points

Taking UTSA lightly is a recipe for disaster. Larry Coker is one controversial call away (in double overtime) from having back to back national championships at Miami. Don't underestimate them or their coach. We are lucky to have Middle Tenn, Rice, and UTSA all at home as it should give us an advantage. Our last 3 home games against Rice, UTEP, and UTSA could be really big for attendance. No rain please!2 points

Is hot air considered gas? Cause from my perspective right behind the home bench last year, there was a ton of that being released by Benford. And trust me, that hot air was deadly... ...at least to UNT basketball2 points

This sounds like a cool idea. I can't find the thread but someone ran their own promotion for a Soccer game setting an attendance record. Instead of praise the person was chastised, so be careful with this.2 points

From what I was told, they were "immature" and "not ready for Division-I basketball." It was in both parties best interest for them to go JUCO instead of come play for the Mean Green.2 points

Have all of the recievers get those plastic Halloween facemasks with the string on the back that hurts like a mofo if you snap it back on someones head. Only all of the masks look like Brelan's face. But if you're looking for something boring, do what Emmitt said.2 points

Put him in motion really late into the play clock or immediately before the snap. Make teams plan for the double team on both sides of the formation. Put him in a stacked formation. Just do anything that avoids the defense being able to communicate ahead of time who has what assignments. On kickoff returns put him and the other receiver side by side and have them switch when the ball is in the air.2 points

You know, it usually irks me when a "team that the big boys should beat" gives "the big team" a bigger fight than they expected, that the default response is always, "Boy, *insert name of big team* was really out of character last week. They played awful. If they hadn't played so awful, perhaps they would have blown out *insert name of "small team."* NO, perhaps they "played awful" because "small team" was better than you thought. But, I've come to realize that this is just our team's way of taking their lumps. If they continue to "meet teams on their bad days," then others will begin to realize that maybe our team is the REASON for those bad days, and not simply the benefactor of those bad days. So here's hoping that other teams will continue to "play sloppy" against us in the future! I really hope that rant made sense.2 points

Strategically placed billboards on major freeways, one around Waco, one up North of Denton on 35 near the river, East of Dallas on 20 & 30, West of FW on 20 & 30. Billboards say "Welcome to North Texas...Home of the Mean Green" Define the North Texas area and claim it. ps, University Officials...if I see these billboards pop up I will want a lil some some.2 points

Why do we have to kick our own players in the teeth with some of these discussions? Do any of you get kicked in the teeth at your own jobs by (basically) outsiders? I wish Scotty Young well at La Tech. Don't we want BB to do well, too? Of course we do. Yet we need some school (like La Tech did last Fall) in CUSA to get back to Top 25 rankings status-- I hope that would be us. Plus we don't need CUSA schools to have "off years" so we can have an "on" year. That recipe does not have Top 25 rankings in the mix at all. GMG!1 point

On this matter just wait and see what happens--not really much we can do other than beat it like a dead horse on GMG.com (which we will do). You might be surprised how mostly nothing but a few tweaks would really ever happen, anyway. It is my take that the general public does not want an NFL 2.0 with their P5 schools at all and they don't want P5 players on full scholarships running the show on what will or will not happen, either. The real losers if any of this would actually happen might eventually be the 2'nd division schools in the P5 conferences (or those schools who will eventually gravitate to that level) like TCU, Wake Forest, Duke, Iowa State, etc, etc, once they see they, too, are not wanted by the real Big Boys, too. This greed really has no end if you think about it. I'm not so sure the G5 conferences are the P5's main problem. Seems it's more the NCAA Division-IIIIIII schools who keep them from having their way. I would hope the G5 group have hired their consultant(s) to make this fact known to those who need to know it; that is, the P5 group, of course. GMG!1 point

I would be much more excited if this staff had a history of getting and keeping recruits on campus. As it is, I think we have one high school recruit on the roster that was brought in by this staff. All of the others either never got here or left. Let's tap the breaks on if Benford and his staff can identify talent and recruit.1 point
