So, what can I say but thanks so much to all who sponsored, played and volunteered to make the first ever GMG.Com World Seies of Softball a success! It was a great time...not only was the game a success, but how about that great brisket and those super hot dogs at the tailgate after te game? Greatness...pure greatness...thank you Dale Hiatt. In case you did not know it, Dale donated all the brisket and dogs...and did all the cooking as well! As for the game itself...much better quality of play than I think anyone really expected...the Green team won it 23-17 on a walk off grand slam tater by UNT88....Brian Futrell! What a great way to end the game...well, if you were on the green team I guess! :-). Lots of homers, some great fielding, and yes...a bit of comedy as well. The Home Run Derby prior to the game was won by GREG who hit three of six swings out of the park. Our second place honor went to none other than Emmitt01 who put two of six swings out! Now...for the reason the game is played...while I have a couple of auction items to collect...trust me...no problem there...the returns show that After all expenses, the UNT Softball Scholarship Fund will be receiving $1557.00 from the inaugural softball game! A really nice first game net folks....and could not have happened without our players, sponsors and volunteers! I am so proud to be part of a group of people willing to participate in these events to help provide scholarship funds for UNT student-athlete scholarships. You folks are the best! Hey...it was so much fun that even our umpires UNTFlyer and Marshall had a pretty darn easy time of it...I don't think even one spectator or player even booed them...not once! :-) Thanks again to all...it was a great day to be part of the Mean Green Nation! Thanks to untcampbell and Ragemaster5000 for helping to get this event set up and for all your help in seeing that it was a success! I think this event might just be a "keeper", and we add it to the series...what say you?4 points

1. My comments have nothing to do with your previous experience. 2. Supervisor, again, whether you have been or haven't isn't critical. 3. Was never meant to apply. I was using an analogy, something you missed all together. BTW, read back through this thread and see who turned it from a congratulatory thread for T.Mitchell into another tired old diatribe about Coach Benford.3 points

Having not played organized softball since before some on the field were born, I appreciated the chance to participate. Looking forward to next year!2 points

It's a political case, pure and simple. Obama damned Zimmerman the second he spoke on behalf of the dead kid. The case agent even believed the suspect and said so on the stand. However, he is done. Either way both these guys were tools that night and happened to cross paths. Perfect storm of two morons meeting in the dark.2 points
-
What did Zimmerman know at the time? That the neighborhood had experienced a bunch of burglaries in his neighborhood and he saw someone he considered suspicious and followed him, nothing against the law about that, not even if he was told by the dispatcher not to follow. You say he is a murderer. Do murderers normally call the police BEFORE they commit the murder? Lots of emotions, which isn't what guilt or innocence should be based on. Just the facts, ma'am .2 points
-
Once again, he was NEVER told not to follow. If you actually listen to the tape, the dispather says, "We don't need you to do that." Even IF the dispatcher, who does not give lawful orders, ordered him not to follow, he still doesn't have to obey. If someone who does have legal authority told him not to follow, he is still legally ok to that point. If he is instructed not to follow, and he breaks off his "pursuit", he is in compliance. He was legally able to carry the firearm. Just following him does not make him the aggressor. He could have been returning to his car. That is not "aggression"2 points
-
"And assume he did not follow him and Travon goes on to burglarize a house or harm a family. What then? Zimmerman lives with the guilt of knowing he did not stop him." In a situation filled with silly conjecture and ridiculous jumps to conclusions you have posited the most inane thought thus far. Let that sink in.2 points

Does anybody know if they are doing anything about the stadium lights for this season? I remember the TV night game vs ULL being a little dark. Just wondering since we will be having a lot more TV games now. Can they use higher wattage bulbs? Just curious.1 point

Really happy to have you with us and to get to meet you. This is one of the reasons I continue to help with these events...getting to meet fellow GMG.Com and Mean Green Nation members. Glad you enjoyed it...hopefully, next year will be even better!1 point

Way to go Tony...seems to be off to a decent start with his pro career! Anyone else notice that young master smoothfresh was wearing a Tony Mitchell #9 pistons shirt today at the GMG.Com Softball game? Way cool...way cool.1 point

Now that is saying a lot, and I know you have watched UNT BB for more than a few years. Really hope you are mistaken on Flanigan.1 point

I had a great time out there today and would like to thank all those who had a hand in putting it together and making it run as smoothly as it did. This was my first game to participate in and I had a great time! I'll definitely be participating in future games. It was also good to put faces to the names on the board and talk to a few of you! GMG!1 point

Guys...I appreciate the kind words, but these things do not happen without so many other folks helping, and, of course, you guys signing up to play. You know...I looked back at some old records, and since I became associated with these games several years ago (I just don't have records before then...and don't have complete records of the ones I have been involved in either), it appears that EE (and the operative word here is certainly "we") have raised in excess of $15,000 for various areas of UNT Athletics! That's not chicken feed! Thank you ALL...you are the ones who make it happen! Go Mean Green!1 point

Coaching is the only reason we stayed in this game!! Well, along with the 1 home run an inning rule and the 5 run an inning rule.1 point

It's definitely the game vs. Cincinnati...I got the date screwed up...it's the 2002 NO Bowl. I'll dup them before I send them out. Silver Eagle and Mean Green 93-98 were the first to respond.1 point

A great time! I am certainly in for the next one. Thanks to KRAM for the organization and passion to keep doing these things. If we can ever arrange one (and the interest is there) I'd definitely play in a gomeangreen.com so cer game and would help with the logistics.1 point

Need to fully recognize RAGEMASTER5000 (I think that is the name of the station wagon on the old Vacation movie). It was his suggestion that started all of this. And he gave us our catcher, Phillip, and the great Limbs, Rover and Bench Coach! Thanks RAGE! GMG1 point

Great total! Very much appreciate everyone. I am in next year...but cede coaching responsibilities to proven winners...like Emmitt! Any feedback would be appreciated on how we can improve the event next year, but man, Commissioner Mark just does a great job with these events. Meant to mention in another thread how much I appreciate the guys from NT that helped...apologize if I don't get these names right: Trey Askew, facilities coordinator, who made sure the field was in beautiful shape for us...great outfield grass! Brian (?), who did an excellent job announcing. Thanks to Ms. Atterberry and Michelle (Michagb) for getting us organized and collecting cash. Enjoyed meeting you both. I am sure I missed some, and got names wrong. But we appreciate everyone that helped. GMG1 point

Actually, if she turned around and attacked Emmitt sexually while Emmitt was following her, she kinda was not only asking for it, but making it happen. Especially if she was bigger than Emmitt. And lets face it, at 2AM in college, is there really any doubt she was twice Emmitt's size?1 point

Yes I realize that. I am just simply stating what I have seen. Alzee was in the dog house most of the season and his numbers were down for reasons unknown.1 point

Penn High School, Mishawaka, Indiana. 1959 - 1963. Offensive Right Guard in the old Green Bay offense. Played some linebacker in the old Oklahoma 5 - 4 defense. Coached by the master, Dale O'Connell. We had winning teams.1 point

Looks like UNT has some great options coming off the bench along with a pretty darn solid starting five. Could make for a very interesting and enjoyable first CUSA campaign for the Mean Green and it's supporters.1 point

Ha! Old dogs can learn new tricks! Costa Rica rain forest....thirteen stations in and above the rain forest! Great views once you realize that darn line is actually not going to break....great fun..if you get a chance, give it a try! Had to make sure my wife was in front of me so she wouldn't unhook any of my safety hooks!1 point

If this was indeed the case and the defense found out about it is grounds for a mistrial. If you watched or listened to any of the trial you'd also know that the judge asked if any of the jurors had used social media or logged onto an electronic device. The judge was trying very hard to make sure the jury's opinion was not swayed by any means possible.1 point
