  3. You want it to resemble the experiences at Clemson, K-State's, UL-L and LSU.... ALL GREEN and a very tiny quarter section of the opponent's supporters jammed tightly in with any band that they may bring.. NO to mixed seating.

  5. This trial saw the American media sink to new lows, fabricating voices, whipping up racial hysteria, misreporting facts, speculating, exposing Zimmerman's social security number to the masses. I'm not sure he will be acquitted (I wonder if the jury is considering the rioting and looting threats that are all over social media) but if he is, I hope Zimmerman moonwalks outta the courtroom with both middle fingers blazing. The victim was on trial in the case for the crime of defending himself from attack. If nothing else, this whole sorry mess should wash away forever the fiction of liberal multiculturalist tolerance.

  6. You're right. Much better to fall all over ourselves when our paid athletic staff recycles ideas and berate those who created them. I wonder, do you scour this forum for my posts? You seem so quick to reply with your lame ass attempts to keep my ego "in check". And for whom? Your own edification? Really? Are you that devoid of other hobbies. And more importantly, I couldn't pick you out of a lineup if I tried yet you seem to be ever so pre-occupied with me.

  7. This is really bad news. While I hardly knew Brian...getting to meet him only once at Oak Street Ale House at a benefit event...I know that Brian was loved by many and will always be in many hearts. A great friend he was and those who were fortunate enough to call him friend and to be called "friend" by Brian are some very lucky people. May God grant Brian, Nicole and their family and friends peace. Try to remember the good times...as many there were I am sure. The Mean Green Nation mourns a lost member! God bless you, Brian. Rest in Peace. You fought the good fight against a merciless foe and held him at bay as long as possible. You won, Sir...you won.

  8. Really don't know if he will or not, but at this point it sure appears that the prosecution has not proved a case of 2nd degree murder. What I wonder is this...will people accept the verdict no matter which way it goes? Doubtful.

  9. It's not crystal clear. In fact, very little in this case is actually crystal clear. I would challenge that Zimmerman didn't go after Martin with intent to kill. I don't think the prosecution could even come close to proving the murder was premeditated.

  10. Did some deep snapping (only one on the JV who could get it back to the punter) at Bryan Adams in Dallas, played a little center at all of about 165lbs and some middle and outside LB duties...transferred to Denton High for my senior season...Denton High was so bad that year that the coach actually welcomed me to the varisity squad immediately...without ever seeing me play! Ha! Little did he know...however...at that time folks played by the UIL rules and eventhough we moved for my dad's business I was declared inelligible to play! Really? Seriously, would have made ZERO difference...DHS went 0-fer that season (1965 football year). I managed the team and kept begging the coach to let me suit up for at least a game or two! Who would have known, right...and who would have cared? Well...nope...like I said, folks followed the rules then. Now, I would be eligible under current UIL rules.... Oh, well, my knees, shoulders, etc., etc. are great! So, maybe a blessing...still hacks me off that I did not get to play and that was over 48 years ago!!! Darn rules!!! By the way, our coach was the great Billy Ryan...namesake of Denton's second HS.

  12. Ok. I'd really love to see our athletic promotions department, who draw a check, to do more than recycle ideas that I came up with and implemented over a decade ago for free. Was that condescending, personal or belittling enough for you? Perhaps you think it was too negative? And I could give a rat's ass whose ideas they use...just use an original one to show that some time/thought is put into it. Sorry, emailing people who are already in the MGC to remind them of events seems a little "preaching to the choir" to me. We are far far better as an institution than what we've put forth lately.

  13. Nope, don't scour the forums for anyone's posts and not pre-occupied with anyone, but I find it funny that you either resort to personal attacks, belittling others or becoming condescending when someone calls you out or doesn't share your point of view. You and a few others have become so predictable in your comments that it is almost comical. You bitch when they don't use your ideas and bitch when they do. The constant complaining and negative point of view is tiring.

  15. Man you have selective reading. There is responsibility by both parties, something you can't seem to grasp. The only variable wasn't just Benford being the new coach. What about injuries to Jones, Walton, Patton, etc..? I'm with KRAM, I would love to come work in a situation like you've described and just dog it every day and give about 70% on the days I'm expected to really perform with no worries of reprimand. Just fire the boss. We can spend page after page arguing this point, but what it comes down to is some of us believe the blame is shared between Coach Benford and Mitchell. I don't think we've ever stated anything like in your quote above. You just like to put those words in our mouths, or in our threads. You, on the other hand, believe all of the blame falls to Benford and the players are excused of having any responsibility in last season's outcome. Let's just leave it at that and move on.

  18. That'd be swell and all, but not after the fire has started. Have any of ya'll been back for the bonfires as of late? THEY'RE MASSIVE - supposedly largest in the state and largest pallett-based bonfire on the planet. We keep ourselves separated to it by a freaking pond and the earth all around it tends to get scorched by effect from the wind. It's...... ...beautiful. This post has been promoted to an article

  19. I know...I know. Bummer for me as well, but we need to "play nice" with these things so we can play again. Take comfort in the fact that you will have some time between innings! Trust me...I am going to need an adult beverage or two as well.

  20. Sure...because personal responsibility is so last year! Wonder where personal pride and responsibility comes into play in your world? I so wish I could blame someone else for all the mistakes I have made in life...what a great deal that would be. But, for me no matter how bad my boss might have been I was somehow held accountable for my personal production and attitude. Man, I was treated so unfairly. I only wish you had been my hiring guy! Ha! I know you don't believe this " one is not responsible for their own decisions and actions" stuff, but you seem to be hanging on to it just for arguments sake. Hey, I guess it makes for good theater and keeps the posting numbers high here on GMG.com.

  21. But, on the other hand, you don't feel that employees should shoulder any of the responsibility...or so it seems from your replies here. I guess that meshes well with your "players have no responsibility for their play and effort" while the coaching staff bears 100% of the responsibility. Would have loved to have worked under your supervisors! Gravy train deal..no responsibility and anything I screwed up would be the sole responsibility of my supervisor. Where do I sign up? Just having some fun...this thread really has run his course...time to go on to "bigger and better".

  22. I find it odd that many who have posted about their HS football exploits have not joined us for the GMG.Com Flag Football Game...come on guys. Here's your personal invitation to next year's game...also...time for "two sacks of Kevin Kolb" to show up to play.

  24. Proud, grateful, and even a bit jealous...and that's not even counting your North Texas involvement. What'd they do...find a can labeled "awesome" and mix it with your applesauce when you were a kid?

  25. Well of course not. Then again, you complain if they don't use your ideas or dislocate your shoulder patting yourself on the back while reminding us all that you've already done something of this nature.

  31. Flag football for the 80 Pound Asthmatic Smokers of Bruce Hall. Wasn't allowed to play in high school, even after hitting the gym every day for a couple years to put on 50 pounds of muscle, so I played water polo, ran track, and wrestled instead (because you know, beating the crap out of each other without pads and fighting people in the water is so much safer than football). As to Plumm's PSA, even if you're fine now, check with a nutritionist along with a normal checkup. It's good to see what's going on with your body, but even better if you can avoid it before it's a problem.

  32. Hey Plumm, take care of that stuff....but, just sayin...we haven't lost anyone yet, and a little exercise is good for the heart, lowers blood pressure and is good for that Type 2 stuff. And, if folks cannot play for whatever reason there are plenty of volunteer opportunities. But, Ainsley...it is fun! Hope you beat he Type 2 mess and thanks for the public service announcement....no pun intended..I hope it hits home to some who may not ave had a good and complete check-up in some time. Folks, Plumm does have a valid point here...GO GET A CHECK-UP NOW...if not for yourself then for your family and friends.

  33. Hey Mark.....maybe because some of us just do not want to die for our school on the field of battle out at our fabulous Apogee Stadium? LOL! I am just now beginning my walking regiment with this new Type 2 thing I was recently diagnosed. I have lost 20 pounds but I don't get to eat anything I enjoy anymore beginning wiith pizza or a good hamburger (too many carbs). Bread sticks & croutons in my Olive Garden salads are out, too. Will Apogee concessions have vegan plates or a chef salad on their menus this Fall? Actually, there are still many good things I can eat. Seriously, fellow alums & MG fans....not trying for any sympathy votes talking about this here but please take this as a fair warning: if you haven't had your blood sugar checked lately let me play (perhaps) a small role in maybe helping to save your life down the road. This thing absolutely snuck up on me after I went to the hospital late one night with a case of food poison (of all things) and I left the emergency room that night with a Type 2 diabetes diagnosis after they ran the usual blood test. (And.......no one in my family had any prior diabetic history, either). Like Rosanna Danna said: "It's always something." GMG!

  34. Right, because you don't know anything about supervision unless you are a supervisor. LOL. If your company doesn't hold your supervisors accountable, I'd hate to see your turnover numbers.

  35. Another great showing by Tony...but I think he will definitely have to work on the shooting efficiency if he's going to see a decent amount of playing time in the regular season.

  36. Ummm. Maybe you missed the following KRAM1 quote from the other thread: "OK...here's a biggie ..... NO BEER IN THE PLAYING FIELD AREA...TAILGATE, YES! PLAYING FIELD NO! We need to heed this rule, folks...will help us to keep being able to play these games on university fields. Thanks for understanding."

  37. I only played football in the 8th grade and then played tennis for the Fort Madison (Iowa) High School Bloodhounds from 1974-1977. I was able to live out my sports dreams through my son. He played football for Hebron High School in Carrollton from 2003-2006. His high school record was 45-3 including a perfect 16-0 Class 4A State Championship season in 2005. The three losses were to Woodrow Wilson led by RB/LB Sergio Kindle and twice to Cedar Hill led by QB William Cole. My son went on to play for the Mean Green from 2007-2011. He loved UNT, Denton and playing on the team except for the 13-47 record.

  41. When we stink this year which player will we blame? Anyone care to make it a poll question?
    1 point
  42. And yet you refuse to hold the coaching staff even one bit accountable for Mitchell's lack of motivation. Only blame the player. Who was 20 years old.
    1 point
  43. What I mean is this: A question was posed to Tony Mitchell by a prospective employer: "Tony, how do you explain your drop-off in production from 2011-2012 to 2012-2013?" Tony really only had one of 2 different answers: 1. Blame himself for not trying hard enough (meaning, he can do better). 2. Blame someone else (blame coaching: meaning, he's not coachable. blame teammates: meaning, he's a selfish player). He chose answer #1. And that was a wise move, because if he were to chose option #2, he probably would not have been drafted...regardless of what is true. I'm certainly not saying Tony Mitchell did not at times "coast"... but I understand why he did. It's been explained time and again. There's no denial. I don't think I've seen anyone here say, "Tony Mitchell did not coast!" But, Tony SAID he coasted, so the details of why are meaningless to some. They will simply dust off their hands & say, "Well Tony said it himself..., those are his words..., etc.... Then go on pinning the blame of a failed season on the best player to play for the Mean Green "coasting". Tony Mitchell will absolutely prove to be the steal of the draft. Tony Benford will absolutely prove to be...?
