  1. OFFICIALLY...."Big C" as his mom refers to him, is 6'5, 297 ish....Believe the one that supplements his meal plan. 197 lbs is close to his 7th grade playing weight and a typo on the roster. He does have a 16 year old brother (class of 2015) that will be at Friday night lights football camp on the 26th, that is a 6'4, 197 TE.

  6. I have absolutely no clue what you mean by that statement. I am going by what the man said about himself. Personally, I am a Tony Mitchell fan, and have spent time chatting with him on more than one occasion one on one. Great kid...great rep for UNT as he does say he loves the place and loved his time at UNT. But, even he acknowledges that he gave less than full effort and even lost interest in the season. To ignore what the man says about his own efforts is just foolish and speaks of denial. In no way does Tony Mitchell blame Coach Benford for his play and lack of motivation. But, only at North Texas it seems so many want to play the denial game. If it makes folks feel better to ignore the very obvious, fine, but it is what it is. Tony was bound for the NBA and he is motivated to give all he can to secure his spot with the Pistons. Every member of the Mean Green Nation should be on his side and be wishing him nothing but success. I know I am...but I am also not in denial of what the man himself has said but publicly and privately. So...I say agin...go get 'em Tony...the Mean Green Nation...at least most of us...are in your corner!

  7. Um...the AAC is still a BCS conference this year and if we have another season like 2007, an undefeated AAC team will get a title shot. Therefore not a equal conference and even when 2014 gets here, CUSA and the AAC STILL won;t be equal. USF >>>>>>> FIU no comparison UCF >>>>>>>FAU also no comparison Memphis >>>>>>>> Middle Tennessee (this has to be by far the worst directional name of them all) SMU >>>> UNT Houston >>>>>>>>> UTSA (We have SWC lineage, Heisman trophy winners, history, Case Keeum, David Klingler and so on) Cincy >>>>>>>> USM (We didn't want that hick Mississippi school contaminating our conference) UCONN >>>>>>>>>> Marshall no comparison ECU >>>>>>>> Charlotte (Pirates bring 50k to a game no matter the opponent) Tulsa >>>>>> UTEP (We didn't want trash like UTEP either) Tulane >>>> Rice (Ruck Fice!) Navy >>>> ODU (Like UTSA, they have good potential but is still some unproven FCS moveup in our eyes) Temple >>>>>>>> UAB (lmao, let's us not even go there with this one) If you truly think this conference is even anywhere close to being equal, then you need to get your head checked. And please, no irrelevant stories from so long ago, my grandparents were in high school. These types of GIFs are fine! Not really much to write home about. UNT has better girls than those on Cullen. That being said, it's a helluva lot better than what's at Rice. (Not that's anything to brag about)

  8. To be fair... Benny spent all of his time motivating Roger. You just can't ask a coach to motivate more than one guy a season. HE'S ONLY ONE MAN.

  11. What I mean is this: A question was posed to Tony Mitchell by a prospective employer: "Tony, how do you explain your drop-off in production from 2011-2012 to 2012-2013?" Tony really only had one of 2 different answers: 1. Blame himself for not trying hard enough (meaning, he can do better). 2. Blame someone else (blame coaching: meaning, he's not coachable. blame teammates: meaning, he's a selfish player). He chose answer #1. And that was a wise move, because if he were to chose option #2, he probably would not have been drafted...regardless of what is true. I'm certainly not saying Tony Mitchell did not at times "coast"... but I understand why he did. It's been explained time and again. There's no denial. I don't think I've seen anyone here say, "Tony Mitchell did not coast!" But, Tony SAID he coasted, so the details of why are meaningless to some. They will simply dust off their hands & say, "Well Tony said it himself..., those are his words..., etc.... Then go on pinning the blame of a failed season on the best player to play for the Mean Green "coasting". Tony Mitchell will absolutely prove to be the steal of the draft. Tony Benford will absolutely prove to be...?

  13. Let's just be glad they made the move--or else we are still in the SBC. If we thought the old SBC was bad, imagine one without MUTS, F_Us, or Western Kentucky. Talk about being the low conference on the totem pole.

  18. I think our student attendance will ultimately result in a continuing rise in attendance. Sure, the last game is usually poorly attended by the students, but we outclass pretty much every peer when it comes to student attendance. As these students graduate, they'll end up on the alumni side and that bodes VERY well for the future. Look at the Texas Southern, Troy and ULL games. There were SO many students at the ULL game. It gets me excited for our future. And now let's win. I think it's a combination of attracting mostly first choice UNT students, a student body that mostly lives in Denton, a surprising amount of school spirit and the new stadium. Spirit has risen every year since I came here, and so much more than when some older alums I know...that's why it excites me if we'd win a few games...our attendance would skyrocket quickly. Students love UNT. My Freshman year there was a bit of school spirit but now there's so much and I really feel privileged to see it evolve as it has.

  22. That pic would make many of our UNT's version of a Pulitzer photo prize (so to speak). WOW! Wonder what our 2 or 3 chief UNT critics would say about that pic? Maybe....."Look how dark the clouds are in the background, just shows how dark the school's agenda has been since 1890?"

  25. You obviously do not pay attention to recruiting or keep up with it. Get that top CUSA team stuff outta here, cause we are mainly talking about the state of Texas when it comes to UNT recruiting. Anyone who has been paying attention knows that Texas has been the dream school over the past few years. Now with the recent success of A&m, they may have taken over. Usually one of those two schools are the top choice. Oklahoma is also a top choice. Now that TCU is in the big 12, and Baylor's recent success, they, along with Tech is the next tier. It's pretty obvious if you keep up. There is a pecking order in recruiting. You are right about the coaches not paying attention to the stars, but you are incorrect about how a recruit with the talent of a 3 star thinks. The recruits pay attention to it and they gauge themselves based on the scouting. Of course there are a few exceptions, but most of these recruits and sites make a big deal about a big 12, big 10, PAC 12, or SEC offer. I agree that other schools get 3 star recruits. Because the top schools are fighting for the elite talent first. They all are trying to get the 4 and 5 star talents. Once that has narrowed down, they are coming after the next ones down the list. There's obviously plenty of 3 star talent to go around, so to take that statement as if ALL 3 star recruits go to big 12 is just silly.

  28. They only have so much time left to get the photos linked up and showing with this no site. If we can't do our look-a-like threads, those efs at the league office are going to have to delay the football season.

  31. The new CUSA lineup is strange to me. In many ways, I'll miss the Belt even though we struggled as a program at the end of our tenure. Games with NMSU and MTUS always had extra meaning to them. Some incredible players shared the field when we played. I never did get to experience a Sun Belt basketball tournament as a non-Band member fan. I am going to regret not making it to Lafayette for one of the football roadtrips. I can understand the appeal to CUSA. There is legit TV exposure compared to our Sun Belt experience. The programs may not be juggernauts right now, but the potential for media marketing can't be dismissed. We need to get our act together in Denton and start making title runs soon. If not now, then 2013 still needs to see at least 7 wins. Just my opinion. If that happens, we put ourselves in the mix for upper tier in the conference, where people know we want to be taken seriously and the foundations for rivalries and sustained success in this next era can be laid. We are already on past the Sun Belt exit door, but let me use this post to tip my hat to some of the programs we are leaving behind. Maybe one day an OOC series with them can materialize in favor of the Idaho and Ball States of the CFB world.

  34. So what does this do to Tonys chances of making the team? They have alo been in talks with JJ Hickson. Is Mitchell no longer in their plans? Does he get traded? This is pretty bad. I was hoping Mitchell would get a chance and that Smith would sign with Dallas...

  38. Whoa! Didn't realize I was in that much danger...better not ref any amateur games in Brazil! This is just crazy...really bizarre behavior here all the way around. I am thinking there may be more to this story...like some prior knowledge and personal animosity between these two that had nothing to do with the game! Wow! Bad stuff here....
