  1. So I got a little bored this weekend and had nothing better to do, so I made a fan video for the upcoming season. Anyways, just thought I'd share. I'm in no way a professional. Football season needs to get here already! Fixing the bass issue now. Should have another version soon. Click here to view the article

  5. .... But Run By Idiots! A Country Founded by Geniuses but Run by Idiots Attributed to Jeff Foxworthy: If you can get arrested for hunting or fishing without a license, but not for entering and remaining in the country illegally — you might live in a nation that was founded by geniuses but is run by idiots. If you have to get your parents’ permission to go on a field trip or to take an aspirin in school, but not to get an abortion — you might live in a nation that was founded by geniuses but is run by idiots. If you MUST show your identification to board an airplane, cash a check, buy liquor, or check out a library book and rent a video, but not to vote for who runs the government — you might live in a nation that was founded by geniuses but is run by idiots. If the government wants to prevent stable, law-abiding citizens from owning gun magazines that hold more than ten rounds, but gives twenty F-16 fighter jets to the crazy new leaders in Egypt — you might live in a nation that was founded by geniuses but is run by idiots. If, in the nation’s largest city, you can buy two 16-ounce sodas, but not one 24-ounce soda, because 24-ounces of a sugary drink might make you fat — you might live in a nation that was founded by geniuses but is run by idiots. If an 80-year-old woman or a three-year-old girl who is confined to a wheelchair can be strip-searched by the TSA at the airport, but a woman in a burka or a hijab is only subject to having her neck and head searched — you might live in a nation that was founded by geniuses but is run by idiots. If your government believes that the best way to eradicate trillions of dollars of debt is to spend trillions more — you might live in a nation that was founded by geniuses but is run by idiots. If a seven-year-old boy can be thrown out of school for saying his teacher is “cute,” but hosting a sexual exploration or diversity class in grade school is perfectly acceptable — you might live in a nation that was founded by geniuses but is run by idiots. If hard work and success are met with higher taxes and more government regulation and intrusion, while not working is rewarded with Food Stamps, WIC checks, Medicaid benefits, subsidized housing, and free cell phones — you might live in a nation that was founded by geniuses but is run by idiots. If the government’s plan for getting people back to work is to provide incentives for not working, by granting 99 weeks of unemployment checks, without any requirement to prove that gainful employment was diligently sought, but couldn’t be found — you might live in a nation that was founded by geniuses but is run by idiots. If you pay your mortgage faithfully, denying yourself the newest big-screen TV, while your neighbor buys iPhones, time shares, a wall-sized do-it-all plasma screen TV and new cars, and the government forgives his debt when he defaults on his mortgage — you might live in a nation that was founded by geniuses but is run by idiots. If being stripped of your Constitutional right to defend yourself makes you more “safe” according to the government — you might live in a nation that was founded by geniuses but is run by idiots. What a country! How about we give God a reason to continue blessing America!

  6. Yeah, the phrasing of Brett's comment above (from a couple weeks ago, I think) leads me to believe that something went wrong. Not to deconstruct Vito's prose, but for him to mention that he is "'sticking by [his] assertion'" indicates that there was at least the possibility to think differently. Now that we are a couple weeks past that comment with still no news really makes me wonder if Vito still believes his original statement.

  8. Come on Brett, What does this mean green? "First off, I’m sticking by my assertion that the eagle (big recruit) has landed in women’s basketball. The sticks in the nest are being arranged just so to make the landing a little more comfortable." This is the makings of the mother of all "letdowns".

  9. A couple of fairly important updates: 1) Last day to sign up as a player is: FRIDAY, JUNE 28th at 5:00PM...player draft will be Saturday, June 29th (time to be determined and announced at a later date); 2) Tailgate Info: Mean Green Nation Member and UNT supporter, Dale Hiatt has volunteered once again to cook brisket for us...so we will have both hot dogs and brisket sandwiches available for a "donation"...you pick the amount, it's a donation to the softball scholarship fund after all. HOWEVER, as a bit of a bonus for playing, donating, sponsoring and/or volunteering...each person who is in one or more of those groups will get a free dog and/or brisket sandwich as a bit of a bonus for helping out! Thank you, Dale for your generous support. Those of you who have participated in the GMG.Com flag football games that were previously held at Fouts know just how delicious these brisket sandwiches are that Dale prepares! It's another great reason to support this event. 3) Feel free to bring your own tailgate foods and drinks...we will be tailgating and making a couple of award presentations after the game, 4) Some sodas and water will also be available for purchase at the event to help raise additional funds. But, you are free to bring your own if you wish, and 5) PLAYERS...we still need a few players...come on, you know you want to play in this historic inaugural WORLD SERIES OF SOFTBALL game, right? Still need additional sponsors and donors! PM me if you have an interest in helping out...would LOVE to hear from you.

  10. Switch over one of the couple of guys on the OL with heavy high school DL experience ASAP. I know it's a little late, but I'm not sure we have too many other alternatives. We're already looking at starting a guy with SS/LB size at DE, and I really don't think we can afford to do something similar on the interior if things don't work out with some of the guys. At least get someone on the OL used to the idea early this Summer.

  12. If the a PG falls to #10 that Utah really likes, I could see POR trading down to #14 to grab Mitchell. With Mitchell in house, they could bring him off the bench for a couple years behind L. Aldridge grooming him as trade chip or as LA's replacement if he leaves as a free agent in 2015.

  13. So I think we can assume we didn't land the "big news" recruit.

  14. OK, seriously now...I've seen no discussion on this yet, but if Dallas at #13, who is looking at a couple of other power forwards, has an opportunity to draft Tony...do they pull the trigger? This could be the thing to continue putting butts in seats, especially after Dirk has ridden off into the sunset.

  23. Did he make others better around him? Did her turn our team into a wining team? No one is debating he is a good player but he was not what was advertised when coming here. It was a pretty big hype when he signed and the numbers were decent but overall the team his first year did not standout. Oh wait let me hear the excuses about how we were young, less talented, how we lost some of our very good players due to grades... All garbage from a person who then refuses to see injuries or chemistry (a norm with a new coach) as a reason for a disappointing season last season.

  31. Again, the higher up the government ladder we all go to have things "taken care of", the worse those things work. It's worth noting that the USA did just fine up until 1979 without a DOE. Not sure why it was ever needed, because it's useless and a money-suck. Also, what does it do, such that it needs 5K employees and a budget of over $65 billion per year? Also, doesn't even the name "Department of Education" give people any sort of shiver down their spine??

  32. I don't think anyone wants to live in a poorly educated country. At the same time, how can anyone explain why we can spend so much money on education and not have better results when compared to other countries that spend less than the US and rank higher than US students?

  42. By following the failed policies of the Progressive movement that have morally and financially bankrupted this once great and proud nation, you just might live in a country that was founded by geniuses, but run by idiots.

  43. Dallas actually makes sense. I believe they saw Mitchell more than anyone the last 2 seasons and would be very familiar with his situation at UNT. It sure would be nice to have Tony stay local.

  44. --- I am not sure I would call the Pilgrims geniuses... That landed on the Mass. coast in December ( not warm a weather month) ... out of water, food and unable to grow any. Obviously no housing and weather was terrible to even build any. The only reason they survived is that there was an Indian that could speak English due to knowing previous Cod fishermen and he helped them find food to eat.... Most of the colony died before the next year.. --- As for Freedom of religion, they did want to believe as they wanted but the Puritans did not celebrate Christmas or Easter and before long were hanging people as witches and heretics if they believed differently. So much for freedom of religion... --- Jamestown had been founded about 15 years earlier and the recent findings don't picture them very well either... early settlers were tough but often fleeing a bad situation... I would not classify these as geniuses... Now the people that declared our independence and later set up the constitution in 1789 may have been.... but conservative they weren't.... Tories were the conservatives ... those conservatives liked things as they had been and did not want any change... The people who composed the Constitution were very Progressive and established a type of government that had not existed until then. ..

  45. If you spend over 3,000 American lives to destroy weapons of mass destruction in Iraq, only to find there were no weapons of mass destruction — you might live in a nation that was founded by geniuses but is run by idiots. If you allow loaded handguns to be carried in our college classrooms by folks with 10 hours of CHL training — you might live in a nation that was founded by geniuses but is run by idiots. If you keep pumping oil, gas, & coal out of the ground when you know that it will only add to the C contributing to climate change — you might live in a nation that was founded by geniuses but is run by idiots. If you build a fence to keep out the guy who builds your houses, cooks your food, & picks your oranges — you might live in a nation that was founded by geniuses but is run by idiots.

  47. The problem with that theory is that it costs much, much more out of my pocketbook and yours when an uneducated person ends up on welfare or when a person that is uninsured has to go to the emergency room and does not pay the bill. All of these things get piggybacked on you and I. I once had a dog with heartworms, it cost me about $2,000 to save his life, but if I had been giving him heartworm preventative it would cost me about $50 a year. This is a good anology for education and helth care in this country, but people do not seem to understand that it costs everyone less when everyone has health insurance and can prevent disease as oppossed to only going to the doctor when something is wrong. It also costs less to provide people with a good education that it does to support them from ages 20-death. One problem with TFLF's view is that how are people who didn't succeed in school suppossed to work with their children on things that they probably do not understand themselves? Where does the cycle stop? These people need access to additional resources or tutors outside of school hours, or something to that effect.

  48. Don't see how this is an erector set style stadium? It's concrete on grade and precast concrete for the upper bowl. Exterior was designed to allow for air flow through out the concourse and field. Congrats on apogee being just an over glorified version of a high school stadium in allen, tx. They prob have better attendance as well.

  50. This just boggles the mind. Benford will have less talent in a more competitive league. We all know he isn't going to out-coach anyone. But we just need to wait and watch the disaster unfold. It amazes me how many people are willing to let this program be reduced to the 2002 days.
