  1. In other news, I've expressed interest in Kate Upton.

  2. Totally agree. I often put my trust in those who have attended events which are, unabashedly, designed to fire up a fan base with the best spin possible, rather than those whose job it is (read: they maintain their employment based on) to grade potential pro draftees. I'm thinking of purchasing a car soon. I know Car and Driver gives consistently high marks to the BMW's...but I'm gonna take my chances with the Kia salesman instead.

  3. Meh. Find me a single on of these "reporters" that attended a coaches caravan event.

  4. If anyone ever needed any more reason to love the Rangers.... They just donated an entire box of seats for the Verlander v Darvish matchup on Thursday to Brian and Nicole. The outpouring of support for the best guy you probably haven't been lucky enough to meet yet continues to be greater than my words can express.

  6. JesseMartin, this was a different time.Denton was still segregated, women could only stay out until 10:50 every night except Saturday, which was till 1:00,and we had no rights as a student. If you were a man and didn't like it, there was always the draft and Viet Nam.

  8. OK, if we're trying to engage Denton, why not partner with Denton pee wee football to have teams experience some sort of "on field" experience on occasion. Maybe it's just being in a designated area during pre-game. Maybe it's halftime recognition Whatever the experience, "get 'em while they're young." Hopefully, they would have so much fun that the kids would develop a desire to follow NT football beyond the one-time event and drag their parents on subsequent Saturdays so that the Mean Green become their family's "team"

  11. For Cougar Craps information, our series with Houston is tied at this point as it is with Texas Tech. Neither probably wants to play us for fear of being on the minus side of that ledger again. We have taken our licks for the last few years, but our history go back a lot farther than those two start up outfits.

  15. See, we actually agree. You would think a university administration that was serious about athletics would at least improve the lighting in a facility that it uses ALOT after they just got a free new top of the line scoreboard from fans of said athletoc program, But not here. But yet they will expect to be able to use the scoreboard anytime they want for university events inside The Pit. The least the university could do is improve the crummy lighting.

  17. Here's something to think about....a niece of mine is in the Arkansas Razorback Marching Band. She is PAID $2,000 to be in the marching band. I assume that is $2,000 per year, not for each semester. But I'm really not sure. Not in books, not a payment towards her tuition. Not sure how it is taxed. Kids probably line up to be in that band.

  19. That's kind of the point. It was posted on OUR BOARD. We don't feel the need to start shit on Houston's board, especially if there are more of...well, you. It's the meatloaf diet. 1) Then GO AWAY. 2) Taking back what, the UNT board? Is this a Clerks II reference? 3) Thanks, Mrs. Pot. Can you put some meatloaf in my kettle? 4) That's not the meat I was talking about, but it does make me feel sexy, thanks. 5) The first rule of Project Coogfans is that you don't ask questions. Except maybe why they don't give you enough to talk about...wait, did they all want you to go away too? That would be a convenient truth.

  20. Your experience is certainly 180 degrees different than mine. Where are your tickets? I do not recall ever seeing anyone passed out in the Club Section nor have I noticed any drunken folks camped out in my section nor Yucking it up" with other drunks. I suggest you consider moving your seat location if that is happening to you. The folks in my section spend the vast majority of time in their outside seats watching the game and cheering on the Mean Green. Come on over, we would love to have another intently interested in the games. Where the heck do you sit?

  21. Yep...I am part of that "group of private citizens" you mention. Perhaps if a few more had done so, the athletic dept. would have had enough money to immediately pay for the lighting upgrade as well. But, why should the athletic department pay the full costs of the upgrade if it does not have full use of the facility? Shouldn't the AD, being financially responsible, request that the university share the cost of the upgrade? Why is that a problem? Seems the responsible thing to do and being a good steward of funds available. Short of that, we could start another campaign and maybe some others would step up with the funds. I have no idea what that might cost. But, like some here have said, I do think a lighting upgrade is in the works.

  22. But you apparently bought into the politicization of the Iraq war, right? Do you believe that Pres. Bush was just unsure about WMDs, or do you believe he knew they weren't there. Pres. Obama's administration altered the talking points from the CIA to exclude the fact that it was a terror attack and include that it was a demonstration over a video. That is the facts that came out in testimony this week. Pres. Obama stated with that story through the election. And (shocking) the NBCs, ABCs, CBSs, and CNNs of the world never reported on it. Fox did, and were right, but they don't matter to you, So, it's not ok for Pres. Bush to go to war over weapons he legitimately believes Iraq possesses, and just about every member of congress agreed that Iraq possessed, but it's ok for the administration of Pres. Obama to outright lie about the deaths of American diplomats to ensure re-election? Funny standards you have there.

  23. I'm with Silver on this but then I remember that we can't even coordinate the football team to arrive at the Mean Green March at a specific time or enter the stadium on game day without 2 or 3 spastic stop-and-starts across the field. ..."AND HERE COMES THE MEAN GR.....oh wait,....ok....AND HERE COMES THE......no........not that time either......oh...here we go,....AND HERE COMES THE MEAN GREEN!!!!!!!!"..... 24. I (thankfully) never did that kind of marching when I was in high school (93-97). The latest trend is to modify show tunes into marching tunes and make complex shapes on the field. I think you can count the number of FBS schools on one or at best 2 hands that use the high step style of marching. I have never seen a TX HS use that style of marching. The thing about high step marching is that you end up bouncing all over the place and so you might end up sacrificing looks for quality of sounds while moving. It also requires quite a bit of endurance from what I understand. I agree it would be cool if our band played the opposing school's alma mater. It would be a great display of showmanship.

  26. Old Denton nesters and alums in Club Section who spend more time getting drunk than watching the game certainly take away from the game experience. It is especially annoying to true fans who come to see the games when they are constantly passing in front of you on their way to the bar or the head. Meanwhile they camp out in front of you to yuk it up with the other drunks in their party who are there strictly to socialize and could care less about the game. Leave the drunken game day in the parking lot or better yet just stay at the bar and let those who came to see the game enjoy seeing it.

  27. Okay, Kram, I found one. Personally, I read the entire thread and it's easy to see who is speaking on behalf of their personal experience and figure it might not apply to the whole picture. Your emotionally charged posts have gotten you more temp bans than myself. Have fun in your quest to police the board.

  30. Seriously Harry? Brady was coaching with an eye toward the SBC tournament. Ark. St. had already locked up their seed. Brady could care less about what happened 4 or 5 games previous involving a rookie coach of one of the worst and most disappointing teams in his division. He had much bigger fish to fry. I can't believe some of y'all buy this crap? Just stop and think for a minute. What other win was anything close to a signature win last season? There wasn't one. In fact, I would point to the St. Louis game if I were trying to sell this thing. But Benford can't do that, because that happened before the conference flop and wouldn't go along with "the players were finally getting my system" B.S. that he apparently is throwing out there. We lost by 3 to a ranked team on their home floor in a game that mattered. Much more impressive than any game we played in conference.

  32. No, Ark State was clearly a sign of progress. So much so that a mediocre ULL team ran us off the court in Hot Springs.

  34. As for long-term contracts, not in favor of any more other than SMU or TCU. I think it's better to have a series of home-and-home with a variety of opponents. I would target AAC, MWC, ACC and any lower-level B12, SEC, B10 or PAC we could convince to play a DFW recruiting game. Elites like Bama, USC or Ohio St are not gonna happen, but it's possible to get a Oregon St, Arizona, Illinois, Purdue, Miss St, Maryland, type team.

  36. One interesting note from the Fort Worth stop. Those there might remember that there was a gentleman there that announced that he would double his Mean Green Club donation if North Texas beat UTEP. I've met this guy before. He has season club level seats near mid field, so I'm guessing his donation is already relatively significant. What makes this even more interesting is that he has no direct ties to UNT. He's from Southlake and grew attached to the program during the Dodge days. We need more fans like this. Similar to the recruits, if we can get people on campus (or in this case, to the games), we can get them hooked on the UNT experience.

  38. Where do you live? I live in Dallas, Texas; originally from Waxahachie, Tx What Year Did I Attend UNT: I did not attend UNT; rather I attended UTA; But my husband and I made the decision for him to be a full time student and get his Masters in Business at UNT. We were very active on campus with students and professors alike. We followed UNT Sports because although my husband played college ball for UTA, they dropped football which was a major disappointment to all the students expecially, the ex-lettermen.Can you just imagine what it was like? So we "followed" UNT Sports starting in 1963. A number of years later our son received his Marketing Degree from UNT. He fell in love with the school and has been very active in support as we were. Also, Many of my Zeta Tau Alpha Sisters reside on the UNT campus each year. My favorite UNT memory: A lot of my friends from Waxahachie graduated from UNT and I loved being invited to the games with them. It was such a happy place to be. The fans had such a great time at the games. It was real there. I think it still is. The fans support the team no matter what! And just look at what has been accomplished; truth be told. My favorite memory is a flashback of just seeing our family attend the games through the years; There was something really wonderful about sticking it out for a team/school no matter what the weather. Winning was always fun but, being a fan and helping grow a team is highly rewarding.Especially if you are making friendships with people who feel the same way about staying with a school to watch it grow.
