  1. The women clinched the conference championships with one race to go. Back-to-back Sun Belt Conference Champions! Go Mean Green!

  2. Interesting water cooler talk on that today. My take on it was that the IRS was very likely targeting people, but I wouldn't think it a liberal /conservative thing. If I were the IRS, and I saw a bunch of people standing in the town square with triangle hats, dangling Linton bags, publicly proclaiming things like the unconstitutionally of the federal income tax, I wouldn't think conservative, I'd think Wesley Snipes. The IRS is also pretty bitter that it's been so cut back in staff, yet has grander and grander tasks dumped on its shoulders. I really suspect there's a lot more to this than simply going after "conservatives."

  4. President Bush lied and almost 5,000 troops died in Iraq. Why aren't we having a hearing about that? A fabricated war that will end up costing taxpayers 6 trillion dollars and 5,000 lives means alot more that 4 lives.

  5. If you were even a marginally high thought of big man why in the world would you come here after the season TM just had? Sure we can offer all the minutes you'd want.... a player of TM's caliber had those same minutes last season and floundered. In my head that's going to be the crippling recruiting hurdle I don't see Benford overcoming.

  6. I bought into the politization of the Iraq war after the fact. Bush sold me on the WMD's just like he did Congress. Doesn't change the fact that they didn't exist and trillions of dollars were lost along with thousands of American lives. Where was Fox news during the 11 Embassy terror attacks under Bush? I am more concerned that ZERO Republicans and FOUR Democrats showed up to a jobs report last month than whether or not this small attack was called a terrorist attack or not. It is only a means to drag Clinton's name through the mud because Republicans know if she runs for president their chances go from slim to none.

  7. Where do you live:Frisco, happily married When did you graduate:1966,B.B.A. Favorite NTSU memory: Being summoned to President J.C. Matthews office and told to quit writing to " Letter To The Editor " column of D.R.C. or else. Favorite NTSU sports memory: Basketball games at the "Snake Pit" when we were in the MVC. Those of you too young to have had that experience missed what it was like to be in a premier college basketball conference playing in a packed high school gym . We didn't win many games, but as a spectator we had a ball.

  8. So, by that line of thinking, the LaLa game would suggest that the players returned to giving up on Benford's program,, right? I mean, we lost by almost 20 in a much more important game. Again, it's simply spin.

  9. Okay, Kram, I found one. Personally, I read the entire thread and it's easy to see who is speaking on behalf of their personal experience and figure it might not apply to the whole picture. Your emotionally charged posts have gotten you more temp bans than myself. Have fun in your quest to police the board.

  10. Where do you live/family: Dallas, TX. Degree/Year attended/graduated UNT: 1998 RTVF Favorite NT Memory: Most are centered on Fry St. Working at Rips and Cool Beans, the Fry St. Fairs etc. But probably the best NT memory was - shortly after moving to Denton and feeling a bit homesick I walked out of my apartment on the edge of cement city and down Hickory St. As I got closer and closer to Fry I could hear music and people shouting etc. I got to the corner of Hickory and Fry looked to my left and there on the sidewalk in front of Zebra Head records was a full on funk band playing a show with about 200 or so people dancing in the street, beers in hand. My jaw dropped. Couldn't believe people would drink out in the open like that. While I was trying to figure out what was going on I ran into a guy Id known in HS. I asked him what the hell? He said Welcome to Denton. And then informed me you could drink on the street. A couple of quarts later I was back at my apartment no longer feeling homesick but rather feeling Id found a home. Favorite NT Sports Memory: Hard to pick a favorite but I'll list a couple: 1. Being a bit rowdy with a buddy on Bourbon the night before the 2002 NOLA Bowl and running into the Cincy's QB mother. We chatted a bit and then very apologetically I told her I was sorry about the 4 interceptions, 1 for a TD that her son would throw the next night as well as the multiple sacks. She laughed it off. The next night we picked Gino five times and Jeremy Pearl returned one for a TD. Around the third INT my buddy stood up saying "holy shit holy shit" - do you know what this guy said to the QBs mom last night? (pointing at me) "holy shit." 2. Stomping a mud-hole in Baylor at Fouts. 3. Watching Jamario vandalize Idaho with over 200 yards - specifically the run where he turned the corner, hit his second gear and ran out of one of his shoes and still no one came close to catching him.

  11. If we lose to UTSA this year, I'm not just pissed--ther ebetter be major changes at either the head coaching level and/or the AD. Otherwise, I'm out. No way that should happen with where we are as a program and where they are at. We shouldn't lose to them for many years ahead, but if we lose this year, that is my line in the sand being crossed.

  12. Seriously Harry? Brady was coaching with an eye toward the SBC tournament. Ark. St. had already locked up their seed. Brady could care less about what happened 4 or 5 games previous involving a rookie coach of one of the worst and most disappointing teams in his division. He had much bigger fish to fry. I can't believe some of y'all buy this crap? Just stop and think for a minute. What other win was anything close to a signature win last season? There wasn't one. In fact, I would point to the St. Louis game if I were trying to sell this thing. But Benford can't do that, because that happened before the conference flop and wouldn't go along with "the players were finally getting my system" B.S. that he apparently is throwing out there. We lost by 3 to a ranked team on their home floor in a game that mattered. Much more impressive than any game we played in conference.

  20. Athletics has dropped a ton of money getting the new sound system and scoreboard. The university needs to pay for the lighting system. Athletics, believe it or not, is not the biggest user of that facility, which is why the AD is pushing for the school to pay for better lighting.

  22. Where do you live/family: Fort Worth. No wife or kids. Degree/Year attended/graduated UNT: BA Music 2003 Favorite NT Memory: All those trips to Dan's Bar to see Slobberbone. Sitting in Kenton Hall to watch the One O'Clock rehearse. Many, many other hazy memories that would be better said at a tailgate. Favorite NT Sports Memory: Many football memories, especially grateful to see Booger and Cobbs throughout their career. But I would have to say, watching Chris Davis play in the Pit was a joy, and being in the Northeast on a mini vacation in March 2007. Me and my best friend from UNT (who returned to NJ after he graduated in 2001 or 2002) got to watch the Memphis game together.

  26. Everyone knows we have to win and win big, but the athletic department and Coach Mac need to continue to get the students out to the games the way they did at the beginning of last season. I hope the issue with our fight song is over. That freshman class that showed up at the beginning of last season needs come back as sophomores and sing our fight song with pride, and lead by example. The new freshman class will need them on game day.

  27. No. Concentrate on winning consistently, fill up Apogee, create pageantry at the games, and play the big boys in Denton. That's one reason we built Apogee.

  31. Some kids would rather come off the bench at a high major than potentially be an impact starter at UNT. Kansas is actually closer to Plano than Arizona. As stated earlier, returning to Kansas was not an option. Fran Fraschilla‏@franfraschilla3h Former KU recruit Zach Peters has committed to Arizona. Could be a very good role player/banger on team that needs some 4-year guys.

  40. For Cougar Craps information, our series with Houston is tied at this point as it is with Texas Tech. Neither probably wants to play us for fear of being on the minus side of that ledger again. We have taken our licks for the last few years, but our history go back a lot farther than those two start up outfits.

  41. I am more concerned winning 6 games than having 6 home games in a season. Frankly, I had much rather have a quality oc home and away series with a good opponent and 5 home game seasons ever other year than a pay for play fcs opponent every year.
