It's obvious that President Rawlins is trying to pad the stats and fill trouble spots with JUCO's during his last days on the job. Lets just wait until the new President is announced and he is able to bring in his recruits and put his system in place.3 points

Transfers are no where near the largest segment of the student population. Athletics does work with Student Affairs; Feshmen students do go through an orientation that includes athletics...often an event at Apogee as well; Things are not the same as they were even five years ago. If you are going on info about UNT even 5 years old, you are way ourt of date; and This is not the same UNT, but it will take time to change a culture that has exisited since "forever". Always knocking the university, not supporting the university with your time, talent and/or treasure is not helping.3 points

No, he didn't screw them up - they screwed up themselves and still do to this day. He just allows them to do so. Making a race of automatons, angel or human, would have been the easier route, yes, and quite pointless. Everyone has the choice to live within the God's word. Whether they do or not, that's up to them. Also, thanks MeanGreenTexan, old law is old. Christ is new law. Thankfully.2 points

You're in Deuteronomy. Here's the OT law creeping up again to condemn Christianity. I am actually what you would call a "bastard" child. Born out of wedlock, right? However, I'm going to Heaven because Jesus purchased me. I love when someone who professes to be a non-Christian becomes a theologian/biblical scholar when it's time to refute Christ.2 points

Wow. That's not pretty. Kram, I understand your position, and I kinda admire it sometimes, but if you don't think the outcome of this past season will not have a negative effect on attendance, you're crazy. And it really doesn't matter what most of those lost seats think of Benford, it's the results. People here on GMG.com can nit-pick between the coach or the players, or both, and maybe, maybe some folks on here will bail. But the majority of the lost seats are going to belong to last year's "Curious George" fans, who bought tickets because they heard we were supposed to be really good. Those fans, who are probably more than you care to admit, are the ones who are as good as gone. Not people on a die-hard message board.2 points

I guess "pass you by" means you won that year. How many conference championships does UTSA have? How many players in the NFL Hall of Fame? How many former players went onto the NFL. How many bowls have they been in? How many times have players set NCAA records? In football tradition UTSA hasn't caught Trinity yet! Based on TFLF's standard, Baylor must have passed both UT and OU.2 points

Cool pic. Jerruh's annual face stretch happens right before NFL fall camp. He has to get it done, otherwise we can't get the full effect when he says "And I'm smiling when I say that."2 points

Two touchdown passes against LSU, the best percentage of completions in years against KSU, ranked in the top ten of North Texas QBs ever, led the only win in the history of the program at Troy in 2011, and a two year captain and starter. I' d say that trumps no stats but those from a private school in CO against very suspect competition. In looking at BBs signing day film some of those receivers were so open that I could have hit them. Note that they were all Lilly white as well. I in No way am saying BB is not a quality QB, but let the competition prove that he is2 points

No. But is there any doubt that, given our injuries and the extended minutes PJ was forced to play, that Trey would have been an asset? And, given that nothing is for certain under Benford...least of all wins...having every player possible with playing experience is an asset we can't afford to just piss away. PJ didn't leave because he never saw the floor.2 points

As a Christian, and I understand my audience here so I know this will be met with heavy skepticism, but... in a VERY brief nutshell: 1. God's state. God is perfect in every way, creator of all things. Since we have a God, we have absolutes. 2. Man's state. Man is fallen (separated from God) and born into sin. Everyone has sinned. There is no escaping it. Therefore, we're all separated from God. Period. Man detests God's absolutes. 3. God's heart. God loves his creation, especially his prized creation of man. God's plan of reuniting himself with his people was set forth immediately after man (Adam) sinned. God is also just and must remove himself from all sin. Period. 4. Man's heart. In his finite wisdom (re: sin), man will elevate himself to God and create his own truth, incorrectly. 5. Heaven & Hell. These must exist because of the separation of God from sin. Of course, both are created by God. God decides who enters each. Not man. Not ANY man (Christians cannot tell someone they are definitely going to Hell because we do not know the future for that person). God changes hearts. Today, He is changing hearts of those who opposed Him yesterday. At the same time, a person can go to church every Sunday and "live a good life", and not really be a Christian. No one knows who is definitely going to Heaven or Hell. 6. The Way to either after life. Since God created both, He can decide how anyone would enter either. Pre-Christ, this was through a very stringent law with sacrifices of animals to emplore His forgiveness/grace. Then Christ came and stated He is the only way. That old law is no longer going to cut it because even with that law, man still sinned. 7. The dealing of sin - Jesus. In order for God to be reunited with his beloved creation, He must deal with the sin that separates them. He did this in the most peculiar of ways: By becoming man Himself, living a perfect life, and dying only to be raised from death. This death was substitutionary to all who chose to believe it. And all who believe it will rise with Him. Period. Interestingly enough, the most polarizing person in the Bible is actually beloved by just about everyone, whether they believe he is the promised Christ, or "a prophet", or an amazing "teacher". Obviously anyone who thinks this has not really investigated who He says he is in the Bible. Jesus claims to be God. Jesus claims he is the only way to Heaven. So He's either who he says He is, He knows He's lying and is decieving everyone, or He's bats*** crazy. (or, there are actually some people who believe that He never even existed) Among many more, but these are some of the main ones. Science is wonderful. I love science. None of it explains away God. None of it. Any attempt to explain away God via science or reason is coming from man's sinful nature. I also love sharing this information as I'm called to do.2 points

You sure do seem to know an awful lot about DT. Much more than the average fan, including how much time it takes him to get to the bus and how bad he felt after the WKU game. You are far from an unbiased truthful poster which leads me to believe that you in some way shape or form you either personally know him or are related to him. For you to blame receivers for quitting on their routes shows that you know little to nothing about football. Nobody quits on their route and if they do thats a major coaching issue because the player should not be playing. If there is a problem it would be the player ran the wrong route, got jammed or collisioned off their route, or ran their route to deep or short. WKU scored 18 pts on our defense and that is not good enough? They turned WKU over 3 times thats not good enough? The bottom line is we were up by 14 with 12 to go and he threw a telegraphed pass in the flat and the safety from WKU jumped the route and scored. After that play we lost any trust we had in DT (which was very little to start with) and tried to unsuccessfully run out the clock. Nobody cares how bad he felt or if they asked him to lose weight or how much everyone likes him, that isnt going to win us any games. All we want is wins.2 points

"I don't really follow football, I just know that we suck." A 21 year old college girl expresses the thoughts of 100k DFW UNT alums so perfectly...2 points

Just based on my observations, I think there is at least a portion of the RV entourage that didn't like the way JJ handled disciplinary actions, and they put the blame squarely on him for the Chris and Jordan failed class situation last season. I think they believe that somebody like Benford was needed to "whip these trouble-making city boys into shape." This may be only part of it, but I do think there is some underlying anti-JJ sentiment within that group for whatever reason. I will just throw it out there that the 3 million raised for the basketball program came in quickly after JJ was gone and without asking us ma and pa kettle fans for help. We needed a practice gym and improvements to the Pit long before Benford came in.1 point

I still want them, and this negativity about everyone jumping ship is just worrying about something that may or may never happen. Not going to bother myself with it. Looking forward to regional rivalries with UTEP, Rice, and yes, even UTSA. Bring it on. I'm excited, maybe some people seem to forget that we actually were in the Sun Belt last year? So this is - at worst- SunBelt+1 point

They look like a great addition the the Sun Belt. And the ODU AD is showing the problem with conference expansion, pushing the extreme short term interests of an individual school over the long term interests of the entire conference. The only reason ODU is even IN CUSA was to answer a short term need of ECU.1 point

I live less than a mile from the practice field. I don't go to scrimmages. Season ticket holder. Scrimmages are boring.1 point

Really? We are trying to get people to Apogee, not be a traveling exhibition. What are they going to see at a scrimmage away from Apogee that would motivate them to drive to Denton for a game? We need people to get in the habit of coming to Denton. Furthermore, it would be an embarassment to go to Dallas, and the media writes we have 100k (or whatever is the daily count that day) but less than 1k show up for a scrimmage.1 point
