I want ,to say "thank you" to each and every player, referee, volunteer, guest helper and spectator who came out today to help raise a few dollars for our great Cheer Team students. And, to our sponsors (MB Designs, Kokjohn Long Snapping, Crosstimbers Equipment and Rudy's) a special thank you. You are all very much appreciated! And, what about Tracie O'Neal and our Cheer Squad and a great group of Cheer Team Parents? Greatness! And, to those who made and/or donated silent auction items....you made sure this was a successful event. It was the best Classic yet, and...the best game yet. May not be ready for the NCAA tourney yet, but close.... The preliminary numbers...preliminary...show we brought in just under $1800.00! That's really nice and we now have a min. $2000 goal for next year! Hope to see everyone back next year...bring your friends! Lastly...thanks to all the athletic Dept. personnel who helped to make this happen. Would not happen without your help and support. Great job players...this one was really fun....and, how about that coaching by Roger Franklin? Classic! Great fun today! Thanks to all...see you all next year!3 points

What in the world does this story have to do with gun control? If she would have been armed, maybe she could have saved her baby's life. . . . But she wasn't, so nobody will ever know, and it's a moot point. This story tells far more about a sick and depraved segment of humanity than it does about gun control.3 points

You people dance with glee on every corpse, don't you? No matter how small it may be. This crime didn't happen BECAUSE of a gun... it was likely the result of these two kids being raised without a father, discipline, or boundaries in a culture that glorifies violence and dismisses the value of human life. Let's focus on real solutions instead of hyperbolic grandstanding.3 points

It's a little bit of irony trying to understand why Tulsa would want to hire an AD from the worst program in the FBS. They have a good football team once in a blue moon. They are hands down the program with the worst football attendance in the FBS. A little over 4,000 average last year as I recall. If Dr. Gragg has seen fit to get his doctorate, he deserves better than where he has served the last 6-7 years. Yet, I don't understand the hire. You usually hire from staffs of improving programs; hardly the case with Eastern Michigan. I wouldn't mind us playing EMU at Apogee but I would not want to reciprocate. They are the equivalent of a Division II program in terms of attendance.2 points

Of WKU wins I am all for an invite to CUSA... Maybe they can forget about one of the Florida teams and letting in Charlotte or old dominion. Then try to chase back Houston and Tulane... Memphis can go to the SEC and SMU. Well screw SMU2 points

Here is my take on all the whining about "Sunbelt 2.0" I don't care that FAU, FIU, MTSU, & WKU are coming because the teams in our division, even in losing Tulsa, are the teams that bring people to the games, and they are games I can go see on the road. I don't care that UTSA is a startup, they are better than playing Monroe, Ark St, Troy, the Cajuns, or any other Belt team to the avg Joe, home and definitely away. Me personally, I enjoyed playing some of those schools, but the most enjoyment I get is when we have 28K and more in the stands...our division, Rice, UTEP, UTSA, LaTech, and now probably SoMiss will bring those people the other teams never could...even in our good days. Stop the whining about the conference and star looking forward to the opportunities this conference, and our division, will provide1 point

In the end, the only thing all this realignment has accomplished is to kill the WAC and give a change of jersey patch to everyone else.1 point

Yes...a little confusion...my bad...registration will begin at 10 .... Tip off about 11:15am...having a mini-cheer clinic as part of the event as well this year...they are using the gym prior to our game...don't want to run over a bunch of really cute little girls learning about cheer leading, right?1 point

I tried to quote only a portion of your statement but for some reason I was unable to edit your post. Who said that Dodge was raising fine fathers and husbands? Are you saying that there were not academic problems that Mac inherited? Have you ever entertained the possibility that you may be naive regarding the situations that both Mac and Benford inherited?1 point

You also had less teams. I think a few guys were also drafted by the ABA. That list of players were much better than the guys in recent history. Texas did not even allow summer league (AAU ball) or even summer clinics back in the day I always thought it was stupid to suggest that this years team was the most talented ever. The mid 70's team was ranked 17th or 18th for a short period and clearly the best team in Texas; that attracted the states top recruits.1 point

Yes, but the problem is, who lives in Tulsa? Tons of OSU, OU, and Arkansas grads. Throw in Kansas, Kansas State, and Mizzou bordering, and you've got family loyalties all over. My parents grew up in Tulsa, but the majority of their relatives (even now) are in Missouri and Arkansas. The other thing is, Tulsa is a private school. Not cheap. OU and OSU are cheaper state schools. Very few people go to TU, even from Tulsa, for the reason of cost alone. It's crazy that Tulsa, a school with less than half the undergrad enrollment of most DII schools, is Division I. And, it's not that they do poorly in athletics. It's just that, in a small state like Oklahoma, where the most kids are going to OU or OSU, there just aren't many people in Tulsa who are born into die hard Golden Hurricane families. Most are in tune with the Cowboys, Sooners, and Razorbacks. In the Tulsa World, I guarantee you Arkansas gets better coverage than we do from either the Dallas or Fort Worth papers. That kid Felix Jones that plays for the Dallas Cowboys was a kid who went to Tulsa Booker T., but played his college ball at Arkansas. The Razorbacks are a player among Tulsa's best athletes.1 point

And snakes, everyone should have a healthy fear of snakes. I had a student walk in to my classroom one day with a bag of rattlesnakes that he had caught. Wish I had a gun at school that day.1 point

I think it mattered to the fans at Hofheinz Pavilion on Wednesday night...you know, the people who support that program and loved seeing an old rival have to come back to town and play them at a place they wouldn't dare play at again anytime soon. They seemed to have a pretty good time--seemed like money well spent to me. Never mind--lets just keep doing what we're doing here in Denton. Things look bright!!1 point

The point of my posting TM's quote was mainly to highlight the fact that he made them accountable. Read whatever you want into it. The usual suspects reacted as I expected.1 point

As mentioned, they were running skeleton punt return drills at the beginning of practice. The returners were Chancellor, Harris (#9), Jones (#13) and Wilhite (who is now wearing #21). Believe it or not Chancellor and Harris were almost neck and neck in their returns, but Chancellor was a shade better because he has a little bit better peripheral vision. Jones was about a 1/2 step behind them. Wilhite was about a full step behind the other three. Chancellor and Harris were the most elusive. I'm told that before spring is over MANY other players will get a shot at doing returns.1 point
