I don't know what the please is for. If you think Tech will have anything to do with Benford, you are dreaming. Likewise, if you think UNT will act like a real FBS university and correct a mistake, you are dreaming.9 points

Like Vito said, you don't hold a press conference to say that you are not going to do something. Good luck, Tony Mitchell. We really enjoyed your time here and wish your sophmore year could have been better directed. I really hope you leave with a positive experience and will return to UNT after you leave.5 points

It's becoming more apparent that it doesn't matter whether you win at UNT or not, you get 4 years to see if maybe you can.4 points

Hate to say this but Coog speaks some truth. Dan better know what he is doing because UNT has to scratch and claw its way into relevance. This is not like America today where handouts are plentiful. Scratch, claw, screech, recruit, light up the scoreboard and get into Texas College football relevance. The Dallas Cowboys are the premier entitlement team in the state. Even Texas shuts its trap when it knows it is subpar. Houston has history. They have scoreboard and then some. They have rivalries. They are hated for a reason. Time to nut it up Green and this fall better be a CUSA coming out bash. There are no handouts. GMG3 points

Selection Sunday event in Denton? http://meangreenblog.dentonrc.com/2013/03/mitchell-press-conference-in-the-works.html/ Of course, I can't imagine this taking place today, but sounds like he'll be announcing his NBA plans this week. If he goes pro, does he likely drop all classes? I would think he'd want to focus on that training. Should that be NT's recruiting pitch? "Come to Denton so you can get an early jump on draft prep. While others are playing in bowl games or post season tournaments, you can be hanging out with the development guru of your choice"2 points

I realize more and more that he just did not hustle at all in that WKU game. Missing the rebound which could have led to a tie or win.... all of those times he jogged back and created a 5 on 4 or 4 on 3 advantage for WKU... He is so talented but needs Rogers heart in him.2 points

I don't remember Jordan taking the kinds of shots he took near the end of this season last year. last year, Jordan was very hesitant with the ball, unless on the fast break. He took VERY ill-advised 3pointers, and at times looked completely lost with the ball. The mid-range game he was flexing at the end of the year was virtually non-existent last season. Jordan certainly did improve. I think Benford & staff deserve a little credit for this. And for me, that's about where their player development credit ends. And for all of the credit they get for helping Jordan develop, they lose it in the lack of development of Coleman. I think this guy was handled all wrong this year.2 points

No offense intended, but this is what makes me shake my head on here. We win a golf tournament that included the #15 school in the country, LSU, who have a good program and we criticize the remainder of the field. We beat LSU by 4 strokes after being tied going into the final round and beat third place La Tech by 31 strokes. Who really cares about the field when we spanked them by that many shots? This is a great win for the golf program. I had the opportunity to meet Coach Stracke and his wife last year tailgating, as well as some of his former players. Super nice couple and group of young men. Great job.2 points

From the official site The men's relay teams grabbed three top-five finishes today. North Texas had two teams competing in the men's 4x100 meter relay. Team A (compiled of James Fowler, Clint Collins, Johnny Hickman and Cameron Newson) finished second in 40.70 with Team B (compiled of Trevor Henderson, Kedron Sowells, Caleb Pryor and Terrance Williams) coming in at third in 41.63. Only issue is that there were only three teams entered in the 4x100, NT A, NT B and the winner If you want only a positive slant, try the NT official athletic site. Only problem you don't a lot of information unless you dig. Another current example, Women's golf is in tenth place at a tournament, with no mention off what teams are entered or even how many. You don't expect hard core reporting from any universities' official athletic sites, but it would be nice if they provided the basic information on a timely basis without such absurd bias.1 point

My other alma mater got its 20th win tonight and made its conference championship game. It has never been to the dance. My heart and my money (Those other guys don't get a dime from me) belong to UNT, but I sure would love to see some success for those hippies out west. In other news, baseball season is off to a strong start. With today's weather, my daughter and I were talking today about how kickass it would be to go see a UNT baseball game tonight. Soon, my fellow Mean Green followers. Soon. I can't wait.1 point

The last thing I need is advise from you on anything. I know your point is that I made a negative but rather benign comment that you are just required to response to because you have appointed yourself the arbiter of all comments to do with NT athletics. I can assure I can research the Internet as well as you and DR Suess. How would I even know that there were only three teams in the subject race if I had not, and by the way, I read the results a day sooner from the TCU site.1 point

Let's see three years ago I was sitting in Historic Fouts , in the rain, eating a cold hot dog watching us play some team from someplace in Florida I never even new existed! Now I go 2 hours early , tailgate( maybe the best venue in Texas), take an elevator to club level, have a buffet, a cold Beer. I will watch us play a school I have heard of and actually know alumni. I am Dam exicited, this may be the best Football Schedule ever! I know it is the best facility! I can not be more proud of the steps my University has taken. Just win a few more and be competitive with all. Sincerely, X Thumb Sucker1 point

HC was not let go with the rest of the staff and is said to still be in the running for the HC job. Interesting. Everyone down to the video guy is let go and the HC stays. Pretty interesting. Don't know if I have seen this happen before. Should we say..."only at Texas Tech"?1 point

Freshman goes for 41 in Big East tournament game. 3 star recruit whose best offer (by far) was from BC: http://rivals.yahoo.com/ncaa/basketball/recruiting/player-Olivier-Hanlan-118590 It's called player development, folks. Who developed this year? (And don't say Jordan, as he basically got back to the way he was playing shortly before his suspension last year, and it took a full season to get him there). Who is responsible for player development? The players? Right? Right?1 point

I'll overlook your ignorance just this once. Aggy were the ones who came up with Cougar High because we were one of the first universities in Texas to admit black students. The mindset in College Station (and most of the south for that matter) was that no legitimate university would admit black students so therefore it must be a high school. That's also funny how you try to downplay the UH-Rice rivalry even though we have been playing for the Bayou Bucket for over 40 years and seeing that we still have games scheduled for years to come, I have completely made your argument invalid. Everybody else has accepted that I'm here to stay, you should too. Not just alumni, current students also have an elitist attitude. It's sickening, they're much worse than SMU. So much fail. First off, nobody wanted you in the SWC so you honestly don't have much of a right to comment on what went on then since you're an outsider looking in. Second, if there were no rivalries, then why is our handsign an eternal "f*** you to whorn? Why does Whorn and mainly big daddy Deloss still holding a grudge against us? Why did Aggy sabotage us before our CUSA championship game last year? Why do they still dodge us in football? If there were no rivalries, then what the hell do we have with Rice and why have we been playing for the Bayou bucket for over 40 years? Why are current UH and Rice students bashing each other and their schools on Facebook? Why does SMU still hate us for dropping 95 on them and throwing 700+ passing yards AND gaining over 1000 yards of total offense in 1 game? Again, don't talk about something you clearly don't know anything about. Second, you guys weren't even competitive against us this past season or the year before. If you want a chance to get the edge again, tell McCarney to stop having the worst recruiting class in Texas and the country for the matter, stop making excuses for him when he has his shortcomings. I mean, I wasn't a fan a Levine's coaching but at least his 2013 class was #50 in the country, outrecruitng all non-AQs, some Big 12, ACC, PAC and B1G schools.1 point

I see Macs job on the line this year and its going to rest in the hands of our QB. I dont see how DT can be the starter, hes not a D-1QB, I like him as a person but he cant get it done on the field. How can you get excited about a team when they finished 1-4 in there last 5 games and haven't won back to back games in 8 years1 point

I think it boils down to whether Tony enjoys school enough to return. He does not make an NBA roster at this point regardless of if he goes in the first or second round. 1st round picks, of course, receive guaranteed money and teams will be reluctant to pay that after his performance this past season. On the other hand, the Miami Heat will repeat as champions and he could be a nice low risk/high reward type of pick. Don't think Lebron James or DeWayne Wade would allow any rookie to loaf. At this point, I can see Tony having a lucrative career in Europe, after spending some time in someone's D-League. I wish the best for him because he obviously is not ready for the NBA. Would not be surprised at all if he decides to return for at least another year. (Can't sell your stock when it has hit rock bottom) Coach Benford and his handlers owe Tony an honest assessment.1 point

One thing about the ability to compare players in the same position that concerns me is this: the Spring game uses one segment of the team against the other. So you can see, for instance, how one QB does with his group of offensive players against a specific set of defenders, and then see the same for the other. I know it makes for the excitement of the Green vs. White squads, but the real comparison will come in the practices. Replacing a single variable, with all other things held to an equal standard (i.e. switching DT for BB and comparing their success with the same offensive players against the same defensive players) is the only way to get a true comparison. So we really will have to wait until Fall to see how it all plays out.1 point

I had a couple mention to me that we would be better next year with Tony gone. Just plain crazy talk. Nothing to do but just shake your head and pray to god that somehow, despite all you have ever known about basketball, that they are right. Really fear our 1st season in CUSA.1 point
