  1. That's quite a list of contributions to North Texas athletics. Thanks to him, and condolences to his family.

  2. Cornerback is a big one, with who we have returning from last season plus Jones and Davis, it should be interesting. From all the reviews we've heard and what Mac and staff have said I think it's Berglund's job to lose.

  3. WR should be completely open sans Chancellor's spot. Obviously Terrell brings alot of excitement/hope, but we don't know much about him.

  4. Truth is, if Brock didn't have these issues, he wouldn't be here. If this kid can take responsibility for himself moving forward, he can be the best QB we have had in forever. Tune in.

  6. I note that in both the article and your reference to it the entire question that was put forth to Obama is not spelled out. Interesting for an article with a slant. Also, I guess this portion of the article just didn't suit your agenda as comfortably? "For instance, Obama says he supports the death penalty in limited circumstances, such as an especially heinous crime. The campaign says Obama has consistently supported the death penalty “in principle” and opposed it “in practice.” On handguns, his campaign said he has consistently been for “common-sense limits, but not banning” throughout his 11-year political career."

  7. The "make gun ownership illegal" part is firmly in place in the cities of Chicago and New York, both dominated by leftist politicians. There was a bill proposed in the New York legislature to ban all guns state wide and go door to door to retrieve said guns. Put your head under a rock if you choose, but the only reason Pres. Obama hasn't proposed the banning of all guns is because he smartly knows that it would never become a reality in the current USA. He is proposing what he thinks he can get away with and justify to the American people. And hooray to the gun companies that chose to make a statement by not selling arms to the federal government. As far as prayer in school (wherever that came from), that's not the issue that we are discussing. Talk about straw men.

  8. It's pointed sarcasm. If you want to take all guns away from all citizens, as, make no mistake, the left does, then their arguments for disarming he law abiding public can absolutely be made for disarming the police. Do I believe that either of these 2 things should happen? Of course not. Just using the left's own argument to show you and others how asinine it is. Apparently you agree. Not that it matters, but Ann Richards was governor when texans voted to have a lottery, and she administered the lottery for the 1st 4 years. Leave it to democrats to find a way to tax the poor. The point is we have thrown money at education for years with negative results. Money obviously isn't the problem.

  9. One intriguing name that I'd like to add to that list is Brady Brown. Brady is a 6-4, 195 receiver from Argyle and was a 3* athlete who signed with Vanderbilit. He may have spent too long rehabing (and away from actual playing time) but if he can regain anything close to his original skills he could be our best.

  12. good effort from the team today. But we are disappointed we couldn't come away with some rings! now it is time to get work in so we can take both the outdoor titles as we leave the Sunbelt in style!!!

  13. On a cell phone, but you knew that. Stopped reading after the usual blame Bush and the republicans 1st sentence. You can always change habits if you want to, but the current democrat leadership has a socialist agenda to enact and have no desire to curb spending and the republicans are a spineless bunch that have showed time and again that the will fold when the chips are down. You are about as conservative as Nancy Pelosi.

  14. Mean Green Fans Psychiatric Helpline - $ .50 cents Breach of contract? No, you did not sign any such contract. False advertising? What's false about it? Going into the season we had the most talent in UNT history. Players that is. Can I recoup for mental anguish? No. The fact that you have been a UNT follower for so long suggests that you have accepted mental anguish as part of the Mean Green fan package.

  15. UNT Tennis, ranked #57, topped #30 Arizona for a great win in Denton today by a score of 4-3. Taking the doubles point proved to be big and the match was tied 3-3 awaiting conclusion of the final contest. UNT freshman Agustina Valenzuela, who uses a two-handed forehand and backhand, came back to win the 3rd set (6-4, 5-7, 7-5) to clinch the victory. Lots of pressure for a freshman to lose the second set, but come back to win it with everything riding on her racket. Next up for UNT Tennis: #28 TCU at Denton at 2:00 on Wednesday. It should be another great match--see you there! GO MEAN GREEN!

  17. The athletic department billed this squad as "the most talented North Texas team in history". The AD brought in this coach. I was sold tickets to watch said "best in NT history" squad. Benford has been a complete and utter disaster. Breach of contract? False advertising? Can I recoup for mental anguish?

  18. No one seems to be interested, but NT is in the hunt in both men and women's Belt indoor track meet finishing today. Women were 3rd and men 2nd after first day, which doesn't mean much. However, NT looks to be in pretty good condition going into the final day.

  21. I like how close you are to the team. Marshall is trying to break into a position where it appears only 1 spot is open and he's going up against Polk and Wright as the frontrunners. I love the competition at that spot, and if you like Marshall that much, I'm excited about that competition as it looks like it just got tougher. Plus, I thought your sleeper pick was Trussell?

  24. So you want to tax even more people to benefit education? And because its gun owners, that makes it A-OK, right? Because they don't think they way you do, right ? And, again, it could personally benefit you, right ? Wasn't Lotto Texas supposed to fund education for years to come? But no, education lobbies (see:unions) were back at the legislature's doorstep groveling for more, what, less than 2 years in? How much is enough for you guys? Answer is there is no number that satisfies. Salaries are EXTREMELY bloated at all levels of education, especially for what we are getting in return. My degree has nothing to do with this conversation, but you know that, right?

  25. Yeah, seems like a great idea. Maybe we will use it like we use the lottery revenues that are allocated to education.

  26. apparently not because Coach Benford is walking around free and happy. They were having an appreciation night with free stuff and on court acknowledgement of MGC reps and I couldn't even bring myself to attend that.

  27. Absolutely. This one is right there with QB--and maybe more so, because there are so many variables. I love the talent coming in at this position. We'll see if it's good enough to unseat any of the experience we now have there. I'm not sure what to make of the RB battle. I'm not sure that Jimmerson will be the starting RB. And even if he is, does that mean that he actually gets the lion's share of the carries? I could see RB being a 3-headed monster again.

  29. Tennis and soccer are clearly the most consistent programs at NT right now. Those teams seem to threaten for the NCAAs every year and are bound to advance further in the tourney sometime in the next few years. Great job ladies

  30. Actually, that should be "If he CAN'T play QB, who cares about his past." Right? ;-)

  31. Maybe the AD and staff are also unaware of indoor track and or just not interested. Four hours after the strongest showing they have had by both teams in ages, still not a word on the official site.

  33. Obviously, this article clears up nothing, not sure how anyone can draw the conclusions; some are coming up with. Whatever happens, it is time to forget and go forward. Looking forward for a real battle for starting QB.

  34. The fight is not very concerning... but I don't know why Weis would have to lie. Kinda concerning, and it fits with how he was at Scottsdale for less than a month before transferring here. Obviously, we don't know the whole story, but I hope Brock is the player we think he is and that he's happy here, otherwise, he could be gone in a poof, kinda like Vizza.

  35. You can't speak for any school. You're a clown on a message board. The Big East is the big loser in realignment; they saw their value drop and founding members leave. We now know the market value of the Gang of Five $1.8 million.

  37. Go look at the posts about this game. Tell me that the majority are pretty much true to form. Glass half full vs half empty folks....those that try to see the possibilities for positives vs those that always seem to find the negative in everything first. Runs about the same with a few exceptions in pretty much every discussion of anything. I guess we all pretty much respond as we see life in general...human nature being what it is and all that. Here's the facts...game is going to be played on Oct. 31st. Come...don't come...your choice. If you don't...why not try to get your tickets into the hands of someone who can come? Make it your goal to "replace yourself". My guess...this was the league's doing since it is a national TV game. For me, I am grateful for the national exposure for UNT.

  38. Facebook pages? Really? I can post links to the Sovereign Citizens website. Or perhaps maybe the Klan. Can I hold them up as indicative of the "far right"?

  39. I know you're being (Jesus I hope so) sarcastic but this is, even for you, a new low. A cop killing bastard is a "far left hero"? This is why I can comfortably predict yet another Democrat President in the next election. The right has abandoned all hope of a platform and now simply plays to a vocal minority whose only agenda is to attack any/everything that seems to jive with Obama policies...even if it means painting a lunatic as a "far left hero".

  40. Whether you guys realize it or not, Fraternities and Sororities at UNT have ALWAYS been held to higher standards than the rest of the general student population. A minor, isloated incident with a member of such an organization always becomes a much bigger deal than with an unaffiliated student. I'd post all the positives they bring to the table, but this has all already been done ad naseum and you either agree with it or you don't. What I will say, since this is a football post, is that MANY of the "big" schools everyone clamours to be like with respects to athletics and athletic support ALL have very strong greek systems. Every single school in the SEC. Most of the Big XII. A lot of CUSA. And part of that is because it's been proven greek letter members are more likely to get involved in their university as students and also because they are more likely to stay involved as an alumni. Boo hoo, they don't always go into the stadium. So what? They show up. And that's more than I can say for a lot of people, especially since this football team (that I love) has put a subpar product on the field for over a decade.
