Dream world, or just being realistic. It would be disasterous financially to join the Big East considering the travel costs alone. Some of you lose sight of that fact just because you could be in a confernce with UConn and Cincy, who have been marginally successful in football and are looking to move to the ACC at first choice. That same conference they are running away from that includes UConn (marginal football/see what happens to BBall with Calhoun's retirement), Cincy (trainwreck of Turbeville as HC in FB, and so-so BBall after Huggins left) and Houston (good football/basketball-who knows) also includes the likes of Temple and Tulane that have zero appeal. Well, Tulane has New Orleans. The Big East is slowly withering away. Being in a conference with regional teams is the most financially responsible thing we can do at this time.5 points

I tend to agree with this but for two points. 1. I believe there are some wealthy alums who want to give money to have baseball. If they want to give millions you allow them to do it. If they are happy, they will be much more likely to give when you need money for other projects. 2. It may make us more desirable to other conferences to have baseball. I don't see why it would because it's not really a revenue sport, but then again I'm also not invited to conference meetings where these things are discussed. So if it makes that kind of impact, then you do it.4 points

So they will stop doing something that is against the rules in favor of doing something that is against the rules and against the law? If that is the case, I have some serious doubts about the University's ability to educate these kids.3 points

A better scheduling plan would have saved this school 400k.tou know, like getting at least a 2 for 1 against Iowa. Lets not forget we were scrambling to fill this hole in the schedule with a 1 and done because we had no slots for a 1 and 1 due to a very poor sxheduling plan by the AD. I do credit the AD for fixing a problem that they created, though. But it's 400k that could have been put to use in a better place. Oh, and ULM just signed a one and one with Wake Forest. That's right. ULM.3 points

Ummm... how is paying half a payout a large guarantee? Anything under $500,000 for a 1 & done is a bargin in today's college football market.3 points

Craig brought it up...George jumped him about doing that....then tried to perform damage control, saying something like, "oh, weren't you choosing between something semi-important and the LeHigh-UNT game so I told you to choose the important thing". Craig argued back, saying George just told him "don't bother coming". George was not happy that Craig shared it. It was obviously not George's intent to ever let that get out. Fact remains, our play-by-play guy, and one of the most optimistic of all Mean Green faithful was just like the rest of us....beaten down by how badly this team has underachieved.3 points

http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/olympics-fourth-place-medal/ioc-cuts-wrestling-2020-olympics-125709336--oly.html I'm not necessarily a huge wrestling fan, but this seems like a crazy move. I mean, ping pong and badminton are Olympic sports now, and they cut an event that has been in the Olympics since ancient times?2 points

90, which of Silver's original 2 statements is your follow up question addressing? I would say I agree with both of them. I hope UNT's promotions staff would aggressively pump up this game. I also believe I would rather see UNT play ID than TSU.2 points

It may be unstable, but I'd rather figure out where to go next with UH, SMU, Tulane, Tulsa, et al., than MTSU, WKU, and friends.2 points

I agree with all of your picks except one but that's a huge difference. You pick Lynrick Pleasant, who had 3 catches for 31 yards (no score) over Darnell Smith, who had 28 catches for 379 yards and two touchdowns. My money's on Smith. This is speculation on my part but I believe that Jamal Marshall was moved to LB largely because we need bodies there. Jamal might have been half a step slow for a safety but would be a fast LB. We lose two of our four top LBs this coming year and replacements are thin.2 points

I think the tennis complex has enough seating. I attended a match about 3 years ago. All the fans (both of us) were able to find a seat at any court we chose. When we can't get 1000 out of 35,000 students to attend basketball games (this year and last year and every year since the 70s), I think expanding the seating for tennis is not a good allocation of capital. There is a reason only Rice has such a stadium. UNT students just don't give a rat's ass about UNT athletics. When I was in school, we filled the old pit for every game. It was like Duke-UNC is now. I think some who didn't care that much about basketball just came to yell and scream Those were the most exciting athletic events I have ever attended, nothing else has ever come close. The adrenalin rush was the best high I ever had. I would go back to the apt. and couldn't sleep that night. I had hoped that I might see that again at NT, but not in my lifetime. If ever I want to see that again, I will have to go to Duke-UNC or Oklahome- OK State, but never again at NT. And before I am attacked, I hold season tickets for football, men's and women's basketball, MGC member and attend every game.2 points

Mac said we have 107 in offseason workouts, up from 85 last year at this time. That will only help us.2 points

I believe the alcohol ban is in effect while they investigate the incident with the fraternity. They did not say it was indefinite. Then, there will be the lawsuit, so the moron is trying to protect the interest of the university. Besides, at least I was told, there will be only like 2 beer stands. TABC is involved in the process and is not going allow beer to be sold at every concession stand on the alumni side. That came directly fro a person in the athletic department.2 points

No way Tulsa goes now. I even see Tulane trying to reverse course. This is what happens when schools chase the $$$ and forget about a map. The money isn't there and you leave the kids flying across the country every week and lose money on all the travel costs. Add to the fact you lost any chance of visiting teams actually visiting your city. All the schools in the BE finally realized the ship they just boarded is the Titanic. The only thing to watch now is who jumps ship first.1 point

First you say all the players have his back and you are certain of that, them you say 10 of 15 have his back, then you admit you have only talked to guys who have talked to players who say they have Benford's back and throw in that you might be wrong. Again, Lol!1 point

I would think those segments are pretty well planned. Either way, feel bad for George. I can't wait for a segment about us not sucking at something. We had several of those heading into the basketball season about this team. Hard to imagine when that will happen again.1 point

So let me get this straight: You're saying the current logo (what we call the 'Son of Worm') is not 'sweet'? What is it? I happen to like it better than "North Texas", or an interlocked "NT".1 point

I get the whole don't do it on the air thing, but it is a good example of even one of the most ardent UNT supports not wanting to bring people this year because he told them how good UNT would be this year and doesn't want them to see what this has turned into. I stopped asking people to come around Jan. 1. Why? because I want them to want to come back.1 point

Not sure why he should get credit for the football stadium when he allowed a lousy bill to ham string UNT on the athletics fee unlike any other university in TX.1 point

Supposedly the money support considers Tulsa a basketball school. Re Shaft's division alignment, I've seen that the western division might add Cincinnati rather than UCF. If so, playing in a basketball division with Cincinnati and Memphis would seem awesome to them. To me, I don't think that they'll win a division title more than once a blue moon (unless Cincy moves to another conference). Is it worth the added travel expense? Added thought...the eastern division would only have five teams: Connecticut, Temple, East Carolina, UCF and South Florida. Would they consider adding another eastern team for all sports except football? If so, would that not be another slice of the payout to divide? Would ESPN up the ante a bit?1 point

Wow, another winning takes care of everything post. Tulsa has to decide between a divison of... CUSA: UTEP, UNT, UTSA, Rice, LA Tech, & S Miss Big East: SMU, Houston, Tulane, Memphis, UCF1 point

there is no new CUSA TV deal the CUSA TV deal is already brand new and goes to 2015-16 and no other conference including the SEC has been able to renegotiate an existing TV deal because of changes in conference makeup the Big 12 was the only one that came close and that was because their tier 1 deal was set to expire i a year or two and ESPN decided to go ahead and make a deal now rather than wait the CUSA will not be breaking a deal that just started last year and goes for several more years because the networks don't have to do that and they don't have to pay more money and there is no reason for them to do so period1 point

I'm waiting for this to be cancelled by our genius (sarcasm) administration. Whatever moron reacted without thinking in putting the alcohol ban on fraternities will probably get involved in this too.1 point
