First off welcome to the North Texas family we are glad you came. Regardless of what you read on here you can rest assured your son will be coached and mentored by a hell of a good group of guys. I look forward to each of your sons further proving this so called star rating system doesn't mean anything (I would like to use another word). Again thank you for choosing North Texas and Go Mean Green!7 points

Watch his highlights, very impressive. Has as good a chance as any of our freshman to make an immediate impact. http://www.hudl.com/athlete/571875/#highlights/17328408 We had complaints about how our receivers couldn't get open last year or how many were former walkons. This guy has the speed to seperate, can play on the outside or the slot, and had offers from Miami (OH), Fresno State, Illinois, and Utah. Big time fax. http://recruiting.scout.com/a.z?s=73&p=8&c=1&nid=62070793 points

I agree... but if rather equal... then look long-term... I still don't know how anyone could not vote Ramsey... even based only on what he did at UNT.... in a way.. the MVC of that era was ahead of its time... lots of passing here and other schools, Tulsa, Cinn. etc. Lots of good players walking through then... the SWC, SEC and ACC was all white and lot of great players were in the MVC. .3 points

Trying to read Coach Mac's lips, something about sticking a pin in Scott Hall, or it could have been skins on the wall. Not sure.2 points

Just the fact that kids leave after one year from Lousianna, dropping commitments. Not trying to be mean just simply saying somebody else quite important to this team agrees. “When we get this program going, I would like to be at 99 percent Texas high school kids,” UNT coach Dan McCarney said this week2 points

After winning state in 2011 CH graduated about 31 of 41 players. Guess what. They did not have a good season last year. However, I do know of several that could be equal to LL and AT, and some offensive might coming up the ladder, to - know several of the coaches so I will fish around for their thoughts. Keep in mind that UNT's "ace in the hole" is Jeremy Loyd, an assistant coach at CH, who played for Dan McCarney at Iowa State and was instrumental in encouraging Lairamie Lee to sign with UNT - and maybe Tucker, Rollins and Wallace, too. One other "ace in the hole" at CH - Brelan Chancellor's father is an assistant coach at CH.2 points

--- Where-ever you go... go to learn something... a football career doesn't last that long even you are very lucky and make the NFL.... when it is over... then what? Also major in something that you actually can earn a living doing. [ Turkish literature probably isn't one of them ].2 points

The process to get on the team is different for a walk on compared to a preferred walk on......Once on the team there is not much difference between a preferred walk on and a walk on except the preferred walk on is usually initially in the top 105 whereas the walk on tends to be initially in the 106 to 120 group. A preferred walk on is invited to be on the team by a coach before he enrolls in school. Once he is accepted into the school he is considered to be a part of the team for upcoming season.. A walk on is someone who is already enrolled in school and tries out to make the team after school starts. In the past the walk on tryouts at UNT have been in either September or in February or both months. A plus for a grey shirt is that he gets an opportunity to be a student only first and to possibly allow him to better aclimate himself to academics without having the pressure to be a student athlete in his first semester of school. A grey shirt does not practice with the team until after the first semester.2 points

So the results of the 10 games before we play UTSA next year mean nothing? If we are bowl eligible before playing the UTSA game, but lose, you want heads to roll or you will stop supporting your school? I really do not get statements like yours. For me, I'll take the games one at a time and hope that we only lose to UTSA next year. I'll take those types of results and would hope that those in charge would get an extension instead of cutting bait because we lost to a particular team I felt was beneath our greatness(Not saying I feel UTSA is beneath us in any way other than being a newer program).2 points

For people who state “I don’t get why anyone would be glad/proud to make it to a Bowl Game with as few as 6 wins...” This is the EXACT reason right here folks…6 wins doesn’t make you World Champs, but a measly 6 wins makes ALL the difference in the world when it comes to recruiting. The difference between 4 wins and 6 wins (yes, I know, it’s 2 for all you math majors) can have a HUGE ripple effect when a recruit is about to sign on the dotted line. Just being able to say “We went to a bowl game last year” can sway a kid’s decision. And sometime that kid is DAMN good. If you lose key games on the field, you can lose key kids when a recruiter is sitting in a living room with mom and dad…2 points

Welcome to D-1 sports. There are fanbases of way better programs that are more ruthless toward their coach. Not to bash Benford--just kinda comes with the gig.2 points

I can't answer to the specific requirements of each school but here are the 50 percentile SAT scores: North Texas 1105 Texas State 1060 Arkansas State 1030 UTSA 1030 La Tech 1020 ULM 960 Louisiana 22.0* *Louisiana uses ACT scores This is only an indicator of the relative ease of entering. Even the minimum entrance requirements may be altered for certain athletes but they must meet the minimum NCAA requirements. BTW, Sydvicious hasn't yet received a qualifying score. If he does not, he will be at Blinn for two years per Vito.1 point

We aren't getting rid of Benford, unless you donate the buyout. There's no way this university is going to buy out four years of a contract for a basketball coach when they wouldn't/couldn't buy out an extra year of the worthless Todd Dodge experiment that would have cost > $300k to get rid of him in 2009 instead of 2010.1 point

I agree with the theory. I have to question, though, why for the five years prior our lack of subscriptions didn't cause them to downgrade our players. And are there really that many subscribers for teams like Tulane, FIU, ULM, ASU, Texas State and the like? Their three star guys seem to maintain that third star.1 point
