I won't go that far because any win right now is a good win. Obviously there are major concerns going forward, but let's all be happy for this one.5 points

CUSA is the perfect place for us right now. Regional rivals = higher attendance. With UTEP, UTSA, Rice, Tulsa, L Tech and smu (2014-2017) on the schedule our attendance average should jump by 5,000. I would like to see Texas State on the schedule every year rather than a MAC team. Some form of rotation that would bring Baylor, TT, TCU, and Houston here would be even better.3 points

Confirmed by Brett Murphy just now. Talk about a yawn of a hire with less than a month to put a recruiting class together and just a couple for his staff. AD shot themselves in both feet with this whole ordeal3 points

Who the hell are you to be casting stones at other institutions in the first place? You should damn sure hope your university does what is fiscally responsible for the university, wherever that may be, as opposed to appeasing the fragile ego of kids like you who pound their chest with hubris who undeniable have no clue how the world works in grown up land. Your school isn't ivy league nor one of the big kids on the block, so stop trying to pretend it is. You have obvious inferiority issues, so you come here to bash others, in some sad attempt to make yourself feel elevated. You are the stalker here slick. Are you that much of a loser, while still in college, you waste your time on other universities web sites? Especially while on holiday. Go away and get back to Warcraft or whatever guys like you do in your mom's basement.3 points

No one is impressed by SMU. I am tired of every private school thinking they are freakin Harvard or Yale. Honestly, I was just as challenged at UNT, as I was at TCU. UNT deserves more respect for sure.2 points

* UNT once hosted the Texas A & M Aggies in Texas Stadium before approx. 50,000 fans. * UNT travelled 20,000 fans down to UT-Austin to play the Longhorns back in the day * On a Tuesday night North Texas had 17,000 traveling fans make the trip to the Big Easy for a NO's Bowl game. It will be simply amazing what a winning football program will allow us to do once again, but this time around each of our UNT constituencies, ie, our main campus enrollment, DFW alums, Denton/Denton County populations, etc, are all very much larger. I hate the scheduling of the SEC and hope they will address the rotations and playoff partners moving forward. I also hope most of the fanbases within the southeast are fired out of a cannon into the sun, but we don't always get what we want. Meanwhile, only two Big 12 teams finished with fewer than 4 losses and they both get chances to show what they can do against top teams. OU/UT fans I know are fascinated and bitching endlessly, yet K State fans seem to realize, "welp, we lost to Baylor. It sucks, but we get it." If anyone has a gripe out there right now, it's Oregon. Should be a fun game tonight.2 points

Interesting analysis from the interwebz: "This down year in the SEC was masked all season by the SEC's unique conference scheduling advantage. The top 6 teams in the SEC had a combined record of 39-9 in conference games. It is mathematically impossible for the top 6 teams in the Big 12 to have had a record that good. The best combined record that the top 6 teams in the Big 12 could have mustered would have included 15 conference losses. The reasons for this are (1) the SEC plays only 8 conference games each year (unlike others such as the Big 12 and the PAC 12 who play 9), and (2) the SEC has a uniquely large BCS conference (14 teams). Thus, each SEC team faces only 61.5% (8/13) teams in the conference (unlike, e.g., the Big 12 teams who play everyone else in the conference (9/9)). This is a huge structural advantage that the SEC has over every other conference. The best SEC teams don't meet each other as often, don't inflict as many guaranteed conference losses on one another, and thus create a false impression that the SEC is superior to all other conferences. Especially when there are a few weak-sister teams -- like this year's Auburn (0-8), Kentucky (0-8), and Tennessee (1-7) -- the SEC's size and scheduling quirks give the better SEC teams a huge advantage that is completely ignored by the media. This year Alabama met Georgia in the conference championship. This is not surprising because Alabama was the only West Div. team that did not have to face the top three teams from the East Div. and, similarly, Georgia was the only East Div. team that did not have to face a singlce top 3 team from the West Div. Here is my reasoning: The best possible combined record for the top 6 teams in the SEC would occur if the top team in each division had zero losses, the second place team 1 loss and the third place team 2. (There are other permutations, but all would lead to three losses for the top 3 teams in a division. For example, the top three teams could all be tied with one loss each -- that would still lead to a combined three losses for the top three teams.) Since there are two divisions, when the SEC finishes the regular season, the best possible conference record would include six losses, seven after the championship game. The best possible record the top 6 teams in the Big 12 would occur if the top team had zero losses, the second place 1 loss, the third place 2 losses, the fourth place 3, and so on. (Again, there are other permutations of won-loss distributions, but the minimum number of losses is never less than this example.) Since there are no divisions in the Big 12, the fewest number of losses would be 0+1+2+3+4+5 = 15. Thus, it was mathematically impossible for the top 6 Big 12 teams to have had as few losses as the top 6 SEC teams, but no one accounts for this when ranking the teams."2 points

The game could have gone better, but it is a win and I will take it. I liked how Benford would take Chris jones to the side sometimes after a timeout and explain to him what they were doing. Hopefully CJ can see Benford as a mentor. They seem to have a growing relationship.1 point

You say 53 percent like it's a bad thing. There's a grand total of one team in the country that's shooting better than that for the season. Yeah, I understand they're awful. I'm not denying that. But I am refuting what Emmitt said, which was that "we looked awful before Walton got hurt." That statement is simply false. I'm not going around pimping a victory over a D2 school, but to say that we looked "AWFUL" is ridiculous. We held them to 30% shooting. We held them to 49 points. We forced 23 turnovers. The rebounds is the only troubling thing. And you're complaining that we only had 8 assists when we scored 90 points? Look, there are plenty of things to complain about, enough that I'd think you wouldn't need to manufacture problems that aren't there. I'm not even saying things would be any different than they are right now if Walton was healthy. But to simply make things up is absurd.1 point

I second the motion. I don't come here to read verbal diarrhea from a fecal flinging child. I love UNT and douche bags like this child don't understand that this forum is people discussing UNT football, college football in general, and not measuring peckers.1 point

Never is a long time. No question CUSA looks like a hybrid Sun Belt Conference. However,as of this post[assuming SDSU returns to MWC], the Big Least consists of 6 CUSA newbies plus U.Conn.,Temple,Cincy, and USF. May be a step up, but not a leap. Regardless, I wish Houston nothing but the best, and hope your proposed new on campus stadium is as nice as ours.1 point

Except for one very big deal, TIgreen01..... .........Rice U still being in CUSA and our making football trips to Houston every other year--that is huge for our program.. We only had that one other time but very briefly and that when UH and UNT were both in the Missouri Valley Conference; but UH soon bailed so I'm not sure we ever made the trips to UH (and the Bayou City) over 2 times subsequently; that is as conference foes.
