Good to see Brock getting awards. Not sure why KRAM1 left him off of his recap. Hater?3 points

Dane scored 37pts, along with 8 rebs, 4asts, and 3stls in a game earlier today and tonight he followed up with a double-double 34pts, 10rebs, 5asts, and 4stls against Houston Trent Internationale (Houston, TX), featuring 3 D1 players. Today alone, Dane averaged 35.5ppg. After 7 games, Dane is averaging 29ppg, 7rpg, 5apg and 3spg.3 points

Bingo. The idea that our athletic director would hold a grudge against ANYONE...especially when our main revenue sports have a perpetual bloody nose from falling on their face lately...is ridiculous (and telling, if true). Some of us want more out of that department than treading water. And as for this little nugget from Plumm "Herman Cain of whom many of us felt came from the right side of the tracks....", please see my avatar.2 points

When I was in the 6th grade my parents got me an Apex instead of Starter coat. I remember that as the day I finally realized my parents parents didn't love me.2 points

Looking for depth? Didn't we only play 6 guys pretty much last season? Maybe he is planning on shuffling some guys over to DL.2 points

That's the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard. First off, you're telling me the A$M always wanted to be in the SEC? They didn't get to pick the SEC, the SEC picked them and that move never happens without other conference realignment and the LHN. A$M is the most awesome school ever to get Nebraska and Colorado to leave, then somehow get UT to start the Longhorn Network, and start the idea of the super-conference all so they can finally have cover to leave for the SEC. Those Aggies are brilliant!! By the way, I say history and affliation have nothing to do with conference realignment and can point out numerous examples (Maryland to the Big 10, Boise and SDSU to the Big East, Missouri to the SEC, Syracuse and Pitt to the ACC) and you give me one. A dubious one at that. For the most part none of this has been predictable and to say that we can predict future alignment by looking at the past? Sorry just don't buy it. But hey, if you can find a post from days gone by where you predicted Boise in the Big East, Maryland in the Big Ten, TCU to the Big 12, not to mention all the other craziness that has happen, i'd love to see it.2 points

I don't care what conference we are in. I just want us to win. People keep talking about TCU. Well, TCU spent 16 years being the best in any and every conference in which they were invited to be a member. They didn't get to the Big 12 because they are a private school, or because they have donors, or because they are in FW- all of those things were nice complements to the fact that they were WINNERS.2 points

Sorry, Bill but with that perspective we'll never get a 4-star athlete and maybe no more threes. Hidden gems do happen but I'm not sure that either of us have enough time left on this earth to wait for that. Berglund had plenty of schools to choose from when he chose Kansas. We also know that he's a very good scout team quarterback. I think that he'll be great but we see so very few highly-rated players, particularly quarterbacks, that we're in uncharted waters.1 point

Don't you think his sideline incident with one of his assistants had something to do with it? After Leach, they must have a zero tolerance policy for legal reasons if nothing else.1 point

Alhambra is in Granada, Spain which is a fair distance from Madrid and Barcelona, but is well worth a vit. Did so two years ago....amazing place. Definite super example of Moorish culture in Spain. Well worth a visit in my opinion. Thanks for the Costa Rica tips guys. Much appreciated.1 point

He would sure make more cash being Tech's head FCC coach. But, you think they could run an option offense?1 point

Here's the list which (so far) has mattered a lot more than anything else. Conferences won't go too crazy - for the new teams there needs to be some possibility of competition, and generally must be in or near their catchment area (except for the Big East) - but guess what: Nate Silver is running the numbers in this "election" as well. The MWC's options are (by FBS market rank, school and reliable viewers): 43 BYU 709,864 57 Boise State 483,489 77 SDSU 242,126 86 UNT 202,188 92 LATech 179,991 96 Idaho 169,351 97 SMU 163,671 103 Rice 126,901 105 Tulsa 119,686 107 UTEP 114,592 111 Tulane 101,701 112 Houston 100,253 116 NMSU 70,4271 point

I expect Plumm knows as much about the UNT Ulys Knight Spirit Award as anyone, being he has won one.1 point

True that but I don't think Cristobal is a bad coach. I think whoever lands him will get a good one. You also have to go out on some limbs when in Lubbock. GMG1 point

The question is how many programs does the MWC need? In the biggest case scenario you could have: San Jose State Fresno State San Diego State Boise State Utah State UNLV New Mexico Nevada Air Force Colorado State UTEP Tulsa SMU Houston Wyoming BYU Doesn't that still leave Rice for CUSA making CUSA: Rice UNT UTSA La Tech Texas State Middle Tennessee FIU FAU Southern Miss Old Dominion UNC Charlotte UAB This is still better than our current lineup. I would think Marshall would be a good candidate for the Big East. GMG1 point

The MWC would be a great fit for us. Perception wise it is the best Non BCS conference and they have very solid schools and programs. People speak about the Big West days and I don't doubt maybe those were some wheels off times but it's a different landscape now IMO. And I can see Boise and SDSU coming back at some point. You add those two schools then that is pretty salty conference mattes to be a part of if we can get NT in the MWC on top of the schools already there.1 point

Seems to me that Plumm must have had too much Jack Daniels when he wrote his post. One thing is for sure - he has to have the thinnest fingers of anyone on this board given the exercise they get from typing his almost endless diatribes. Plumm - have enjoyed most of your postings over the years - but this was not one of them! I wish for you happier tomorrows. GMG1 point

The bolded is what your AD should say, as for the rest, how are you going to remember them? By not taking their money when they want to buy season tickets? By putting them on a secret AD hit list? By denying them entrance to the Mean Green room? By kicking their kids out of the Jr. Mean Green Club and having Scrappy say mean things to them? KRAM, I really hope this is a misquote by you, but if not, it's a pretty comical statement. You are the AD. Stay above the fray.1 point

History or affliation has played no role in conference alignment. To me CUSA has made a huge mistake by taking in so many schools. If the Big East does impode I can't see SMU, Houston, Memphis, Tulane and the others coming back to make up a 20+ team conference with the likes of FIU, ODU, FAU, UTSA, and us among others. If MWC is smart they stay at 10-12 teams and have room for the western schools if they come back. Then again, smart has played no role in conference alignment.1 point

I still don't understand why Tulsa and UTEP want to go to the Mountain West. I hope we have a backup plan. This conference won't be any worse than the current Sun Belt, as it's DOA, but not any better than the Belt was this year. We still have the TV money and name recognition though. I think we stick it out. Moving to the MWC is no different than moving to last year's Sun Belt.1 point
-
What's the problem? Clamping down on public criticism of leaders is standard M.O. in Cuba and North Korea. On the whole, I'd say Sun Belt's value to the college football world is roughly equivalent to those two countries' value to the planet earth. I'm ready for the gulag, Karl. (Is it mere coincidence now that he spells "Karl" the same way Marx did?)1 point

Rick, and our smiling/e-mailing president Rawlins, should be 127% into the Tulsa president's brown butt trying to get him to consider us as a geographic package with Dallas "TV market" (which we don't drive)...YESTERDAY! Rick and Lane have got to be on airplanes this weekend, not phones, making our presence known. Surely, they cannot be sitting back waiting on Banowsky to do something. That guy is a freaking zombie. We'll be in the Southland if we keep following Banowsky's lead.1 point

Okay, I want everyone to remember this Cristobal thing every time a coach leaves one place and people bitch about him being a traitor, stone stepper, etc. Cristobal was loyal to FIU, built them into a winners, and was crapped on after a rebuilding year with the graduation of QB Wes Carroll and WR T.Y. Hilton. This is why coaches leave when they have the opportunity to leave. Sorry, you can't be loyal anymore. Best of luck to coach Cristobal. He took a situation with little monetary support and little in the way of facilities and won. He's a good coach. He's a great OL coach and will catch on somewhere. FIU is the only non-BCS qualifer he ever coached for. Someone needing OL help will pick him up. Crazy.1 point
