I'm going to invest my time into the Women's bball team. I've been burned too much by the men4 points

Tell you what... Regardless of the final score tonight, these girls look good... Hope they keep improving throughout the season4 points

Me too! It's going to help us out tremendously in all of our head-to-head recruiting battles.3 points

There are a lot of coaching issues, but I'm starting to feel like some of the guys may be trying to show off for the scouts that TM may be bringing in.3 points

Lol. This is ridiculous. Travis is basically trying to tell you he's heard directly from the horse's mouth, and I would be willing to bet, several of the horse's former stablemates. And while we're talking about horses... not to beat this already rotted corpse of a dead horse again, but Trey Norris was a freshman last year with room to get better. Holmen is a very nice player for us now, but do you remember his contributions in 2009 when he was a freshman?2 points

Close. They won b/c they continuously raised their budget over the course of those 16 years to ensure that they were spending on a level with Big 12 schools. In the NCAA, it's all about budget.2 points

Wait, Cougar High to the ACC which prides itself on academics? Seriously?2 points

If it's any consolation, Medina is listed as 6'0" on two recruiting blurbs. That should at least make him a legitimate 5'10".2 points

Decent Sun Belt level LB? Akunne is the second best player on our defense, and he's not too far behind Orr. There are plenty of areas we need to improve, but linebacker isn't one of them.2 points

Should have been in front of them as soon as Tulane and ECU left for the big east.2 points

You aren't also the play by play guy for St. Louis, are you? Question. No info.2 points

Man I typically try not to whine about refs but this has become a complete joke. -- EDIT -- Completely absurd. The officiating was so one-sided down the stretch it almost looked rigged. Most unbelievable stretch of calls I've ever seen in basketball.2 points

Tony became eligible on Dec 18th against Jackson State. Jordan and Chris became ineligible starting against Denver on Jan 21st. Wins: Jackson St, Grambling St, New Orleans, Troy, South Alabama, WKU, ULM Losses: LSU, UALR, Arkansas St2 points

A lot of criticism of Benford, glad they apparently didn't see his earlier games. He was much better in the last game IMO. There were some head shakers though, calling a time out with NT with numbers in the middle of a fast break. I didn't like MItchell as a jump shooter either, but it was a lot better than staying under the basket like the ULL game and not being an offensive factor at all.2 points

Should have been in front of them as soon as FAU and MTSU were announced as CUSA adds.2 points

And SMU and Houston are headed into that mess. At least one of them deserve it.2 points

Rob Dauster@RobDauster Just watched St. Louis-North Texas. Tony Benford has no idea how to use Tony Mitchell. Turned him into a jump shooter. Dauster is a writer for College Basketball Talk & Sports Illustrated Ben Weixlmann@BWeixScout Benford has absolutely zero control of this team. Mitchell, a future NBA'er, hasn't touched the ball on offense since his return. FINAL: #SLU survives a scare from North Texas 67-63. Mitchell finally touches the ball...with 0.3 remaining. Brutal coaching for UNT Ben is a writer for scout.com Not saying I agree/disagree with either , just found these on twitter. Just some opinions from people not associated with UNT2 points

Maybe it's just me, but sending Fric and Frac to negotiate with, and convince the MWC that they need to offer UNT a membership to have a presence in Texas, does no give me a whole lotta hope.2 points

Can Peterson coach the men's team too? At least during practice? Oh, and 30 seconds after the final whistle, guess where he was? Talking to the announcers.1 point

I wish the men played like the ladies. Hyder and Goodwin look great so far this season for Freshman and I loves me some Laura McCoy.1 point

And speaking of defensive linemen, I finally got South Garland defensive tackle Charles Walker on the phone. He has already visited UNT and is headed to Houston this weekend. Walker was a heavy UNT lean coming out of his official visit and nothing has changed at this point. “They are my favorite school at this point,” Walker said of UNT. “I like the school and the people. I’m comfortable there and it’s close to home. “They are talking about me playing right away at tackle or end.” This would be a huge get. Fingers crossed.1 point

Hard to believe anyone would take the above quote the way you did. Your quote "Glad you know what goes on in so many other programs...even "most" other programs as you say about your knowledge. That is a pretty good number of programs you are that close to....how do you find the time to be that informed " Hardly have to be intimately involved with other programs, to determine that criticism is mild on this board compared to others. I guess you never look at other message boards at all. Maybe living in a sports vacuum like you apparently do, explains the lack of objectivity in a lot of your comments1 point

The new CUSA is the old belt except for one thing -- a whole bunch more television money in the neighborhood of $3 million a year above what we've been getting on a contract that I understand is locked in for a good while.1 point

Taped the game and watched it today. WTF. I've seen YMCA teams coached better than that. Beenford says he subs so much because he's replacing guys who are making mistakes. I call BS. CJ turned the ball over the first 2 times NT touched the ball. Too many other examples to cite. WHY does this happen to NT?1 point
-
There were a few positives I'll take , but still way too many concerns Positives : Both Chris and TM seemed more aggresive last night. We need that I didn't see near as much subbing by Benford. He let the guys stay on the court. We pushed the pace at times. We are much more effective when we shoot early in the shot clock1 point

Also of note , ULL soph guard Kevin Brown broke his foot during our game and is out for the season. He was averaging 5 points & 15 minutes per game1 point

For me, I think last night just took a little more air out of an almost flat balloon, so I guess I'm going to vote that I still have major concerns. On a scale of 1-10, my interest in this team has probably dropped from a 10 to maybe a 3 over the past month. I haven't even made the effort to see who we're playing next.1 point
-
I think some things got better...still a lot of work to do. It seems so often that we have one or two people click, but then the rest of the team is way below average, we need to find a way to win those kind of games in order to have any success.1 point
