I would be fine never hearing Blame Dodge again, this is DMacs team now, he needs to either recruit better or work with what he has and put them to their best potential.5 points

Who gives a crap? Are there schools judging us over our chants that we should care about? The band is enthusiastic and contributes to the atmosphere if they are yelling regardless of what they are chanting. It's better than them siting there silent except for when they're playing their instruments.3 points

Finally my prediction will come true. People in the DFW area will be appreciating UNT musicians during church, and UNT athletes after church.3 points

It doesn't help that Mac's only WR recruit in his 1st class never got a shot and is no longer with the team. If it was so bare , which it was , he should have seen the problem and addressed it more in his 2011 recruiting class3 points

I am so sick of the annual "next year" talk that we have to endure at the end of so many seasons now.2 points

I'm embarrassed every time we lose to ULM in any sport. Thankfully it's not that frequent.2 points

I hope Lance rushes for 120 yds, 1 rushing TD, and runs back a kickoff for a TD. I hope Craig records 10+ tackles, 2 sacks, 2 tackles behind line of scrimmage, 1 interception of Romo for a TD. I don't really care who wins.2 points

Are you watching the same games as the rest of us? I agree, we may not have the best receivers on earth, but Thompson is just not an accurate passer.2 points

Bingo. I read this thread as an affront to Benford and his idiocy rather than Clarke. Its not Clarke's fault Benford is trying to ruin him!2 points

Who knows what their claims tommorrow will be --- but in response to first statement.... Is shutting down groups that give birth-control info and passing out free condoms etc. really the way to go...?? [ besides if you are truely conservative.. that means more welfare for those who can't afford birth control and more educational costs for all of us ] Note the TV pictures (ads) of starving kids in foreign countries... it is mostly because those countries have a birth rate is so high that they can not feed, house, and provide for the rapid population growth.2 points

Every liberal I know claims to do this, but they always come away with the same liberal mindset. Reading just for the sake of reading is not what's important. If one actually reads both sides and THINKS about what they read they wold probably never end up on the fringes of either side...nor would they always march to exact same beat on every issue each and every time. Also...most libs I know NEVER seem to claim to be liberal...I wonder why that is? Sort of like all the negative people I know never call themselves negative...they always seem to want to be called realists even when each and every comment is negative. Strange thing this human behavior, no?2 points

Does Gary Anderson at Utah State = possible Bill Snyder/K-State story? Utah is having back-to-back winning seasons for the first time since 1979-1980. Aggies now 9-2, 5-0 in conference. If the Ags beat Idaho next week, they will have their first ever 10 win season. They've won 9 only once before, in 1960. Anderson was D-Coorditor on those good Utah football squads of the mid-to-late 00s. With as many openings as there will be after the season, I'll bet the guy gets a call.1 point

I sometimes wonder if any of you watch any football other than UNT so you can see what happens when good wide receivers (plural, more than one at a time) are on the field running clean routes. Chancellor's out, and the team's other two leading receivers are walk-ons. They are walk-ons for a reason. Fourth leading receiver, Jimmerson - out. Thompson still hits 60+% of his passes today. Not sure what the bitching is about. Thompson does the best with what he has to work with around him...which, outside of the running back, hasn't been much.1 point

I saw the title of the thread and thought Indiana and Purdue were playing each other in Indianapolis. Nope -- it's a real school. http://www.iupui.edu/1 point

Maybe it has been that long since I was at a game but who were the people in the section next to the band? The student section is the three sections next to the visitor's bench. The band is to the left of the tunnel. Then there is a group to the left of them. Who are they? Next time I want to sit with them.1 point

Keep in mind that the unique pleasure I belive you are speaking of involves someone that also spent some time going to UNT. If you think of him as a disgruntled UNT quitter, it's a little less anoying, but still anoying.1 point

Greenberry was foolish for not choosing Notre Dame and choosing to play in a program that will lose more games than he wins. Who knows the real story there though. Maybe Kelly evaluated him and thought he wasn't good enough to play at ND. I was not impressed with what I saw from him, other than there appears to be quite a bit of potential there. The long overdue stadium is a good step for UH; too bad they have to place it in such a horrible location and a bad neighborhood. That area does not give anyone a cozy feeling and oozes "ghetto". Hopefully they can dress it up to hide the disgusting neighborhood it will be located in.1 point

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Deadpan As for the Cameron Crazies...my all-time favorite was back when Maryland was really good...they tried to build up a big rivalry with Duke (Eff Duke shirts, going after JJ Redicks back-ne)...after a particularly heated game at Maryland the Terps went to Cameron where the Crazies reminded them of one very important thing the Maryland fans seemed to have over-looked: "Not Our Rival"1 point

Now on a team that has under performed in almost all phases of the game early, a freshman that really should not be playing at this point is the focus. Overlander has no confidence in his three shot at this point, it happens. The facts are that he has been a minuscule part in NT's two loses. I am more concerned with a pre season AA who is not dominating. A team that seems uninterested in guarding against threes, has been consistently out rebounded, and a coach that is yet to find a rotation. Whether Overlander is a player is still to be determined and if he can develop into an outside thread it will really help the team, but it is hard to believe with a team that has thus far under achieved that is a big issue. Walton's injury has given him an opportunity; but unless he starts contributing his time will diminish.1 point

I'm assuming that you are talking about more money. If so, then I am wondering something....pony up for what? We've already ponied up (actually the students by increased fees) for a new stadium...everyone that comes to it is very impressed. We've already ponied up for a better coaching staff....do we need to pay them more in order for them to coach better? Do we need to pay them more to recruit better? If so, then that implies that they've been holding back all this time....and should therefore be fired. We've ponied up for other athletic facilities as well, but that really isn't going to attract better football players. Other than lots more money to start bribing better athletes (particularly dominating d-tackles and QB's and DB's) what do we need more ponying up for?1 point

I'm pretty sick of it too. I think that Hayden Fry might have been one of the first to use that phrase...followed by countless others. The problem with the term "sleeping giant" is the implication that we were once a giant, but then at some point went into hibernation....awaiting our wake-up call/alarm to then, once again, dominate all that we survey. What we are, and always have been, is a very large assortment of (mostly) unrelated/unconnected college students who happen to have a sports program. But we have never been consistently oriented and/or conditioned to believe that... A. supporting those teams is being patriotic to North Texas or B. that the administration truly believes point A. There are scattered, but not very well co-ordinated efforts to instill/whip up spirit on campus. You see it in all those t-shirts from various organizations (which most students have never heard of) that say things like "see you at the game", "North Texas pride" or "the dictionary definition of pride".... and the latest "we are all in". When I see those attempts at instilling pride, or at least getting the attention of students that may or may not care, I always say the same thing to myself "who are you trying to convince, me or you?"And you have to ask yourself if the same question is going through the minds of the fence-setting students/alumni and/or Denton residents that they are trying to attract. Wearing North Texas gear that just says NORTH TEXAS or MEAN GREEN or at the most NORTH TEXAS MEAN GREEN is sufficient to convey that you have pride in your school. Cutesy phrases only convey that someone has won a cutesy phrase contest, and that the wearer either likes cutesy phrases as much as they like their school.......or they were given the shirt.,1 point

No doubt in my mind he's a vastly better coach than dodge... not that that says anything. Would he have been the perfect guy to follow Dickey? I think so. Will he prove to be the miracle worker the program needed after the dodge hole? I don't think so.1 point
