this is one of the most ridiculous post ever posted. i don't believe anyone on the team besides tony shot over 40% from 3 pt last year and you expect a mortal freshman to do it? and then, if he doesn't to pull his ride?6 points

Considering that the part about UNT is just in the opening few paragraphs of the introduction, I think it's safe to quote that part completely. If I'm wrong then an admin can edit it.3 points

He played the 4 at a 3A high school. He's now being asked to play the 2 for a D-I team with high expectations. I think he'll be a fine role player here in time, but his time is not now...and Taylor's ineligibility nor Walton's injury are cause to force him onto a stage for which he's not ready. He's now shooting 6% from the field. He brings nothing else to the table to justify his poor shooting. Holmen and Mitchell can effectively stretch the floor...and Jordan will continue to at the least be a threat to. You have 3 guards proving they need floor time in CJ, PJ and Alzee. There is no need to continue to wreck the confidence of a kid who probably should've red-shirted this year.3 points

I also think he has a nice looking shot. Touch and confidence. He will be fine. Go get em Clarke! Go Mean Green!3 points

Are you watching the same games as the rest of us? I agree, we may not have the best receivers on earth, but Thompson is just not an accurate passer.2 points

Yes, through ULM's version of Mean Green Premium. You are welcome to join us at Rudy's in Allen to watch it as well, if that isn't too much of a drive for you.2 points

Giving him some game experience is how you get him ready to play. He'll come around.2 points

Brandon Walton's "slow" start last year had him at 7-19 from 3 for November, Yes Walton was a JC transfer so there was a different level of expectation...play and contribute vs. learn and adjust to the college game. Overlander just went 0-6 against the easiest team on our schedule. He's shooting 6% for the season. I'll disagree with untwillrise that he doesn't have it in him to become a a decent C-USA level player, but everything else he's written is spot on. The best thing now for Overlander and for the team is to move forward with CJ, PJ and Alzee seeing the bulk of minutes at the 1-2...with possibly some spot minutes going to Jordan in a bigger line-up...and Clarke only seeing the floor in trash time. With expectations and potential where they are for this team, it can't afford to have 15-20 minutes a night going to a confidence-less, defensive liability "shooter".2 points

Everyone is welcome to come to Rudy's in Allen and watch the game on my dime.2 points

Walton was a juco transfer and so an upperclassman whenhe showed up on campus, not a true freshman. There should be a different level of expectation.2 points

I'm not sure Clarke or coaches were really thinking he'd see the floor this year. Then we had ineligibilities and injuries. He's all of a sudden supposed to be THE shooter on this team. That's a ton of pressure for an 18 year old on a team that's in the preseason press as sweet 16 and what not. Not giving up on him yet.2 points

I have made the purchase and will be huddled up with my wife in front of the computer screen rooting the Mean Green on!2 points

You are correct. Games against non-D1 schools do not count in the RPI calculations.2 points

With Walton down and out, people have said that we need Clarke to step up and adjust to D1 play very quickly. Clearly he was given the green light tonight. 0-6 from beyond the arc. Not one make. How worried by this should we be, and how important to our season is he? (Questions, no info.) This post has been promoted to an article1 point

When someone like Gus Malzahn notices the committment being made here It means college football is at well. If McCarney doesn't work out then I don't think we'll be lacking in quality applications to be the head coach.1 point

How is what I said bad? So you are telling me your job as a coach is to win games or be fired you will keep a kid on your team when you for sure have a chance to upgrade the spot? I'm not saying he should be cut I'm saying he better start making threes, grow a few more inches, or learn how to lock down a 2 gaurd.1 point

It was hard tonight watching him miss every shot, but he is young. It might just take him awhile to get used to the scheme. Either way it was a fun game and a win.1 point

I really feel like he needs a couple to fall and he will be okay. You could tell how hard he was on himself. Nt03 mentioned to me he doesn't look 100%. I feel like there's a couple more guys right now that don't quite look 100%. Cj isn't one o them. With the way holmen played tonight, and jones... I think it may take some pressure off of Clarke.1 point

For the people who say change it up, If there is really nothing left to play for why not bench every senior? If it's only about seeing what we can do, why not only focus on the future? I say pay to win. And that means playing your game.1 point

WKU is going to be tough. They have a quickness advantage, but I think NT has a size and power advantage. They are 30-3, 15-0 in the SunBelt. They won the only meeting, 25-16, 25-18, 25-21. Story from first meeting http://www.wkusports.com/ViewArticle.dbml?SPID=2255&DB_OEM_ID=5400&ATCLID=205706158 Boxscore: http://www.meangreensports.com/ViewContent.dbml?DB_OEM_ID=1800&CONTENT_ID=240960 Girls swept ASU. You know, had we had a serious conversation on this topic and legalized recreational marijuana use 10 years ago, perhaps the Hostess company would still be in business today. I hope all of you that voted "no" are man enough to personally apologize to all 18,000 former twinkie-stuffers who are now unemployed.1 point

Dont forget, this team is very young and only looses two starters. Next year's team will not only win CUSA but will make the run we all want at the NCAA tournament! Great season girls, you always make us proud! Here's a quote from coach Hedlund on the UNT website: Despite the loss, the Mean Green had a historic season for the program notching 16 wins and its third ever trip to the NCAA's. "I couldn't be prouder of my team right now, we simply had an amazing run," head coach John Hedlund said. "Starting with 16 wins and being ranked in the top 10 of the region all year, especially over several SEC schools. We claimed the regular season championship along with the conference tournament championship and of course, being apart of the NCAA tournament. When the girls receive their rings, I think it will finally kick in on what a magical year we all had and the great memories we shared throughout the season."1 point
