He promised his team would play defense and rebound. They did neither against a D2 team. Allow 12-27 from 3 point land. Outrebounded 45-40. Give up 78 points to a team that scored 58 against a d18 school of five Japanese guys located on a hill in San Diego. Where is it, Coach!?!?!?! They have forgotten how to shoot free throws. They have forgotten how to shoot, period! Substituting players every 20 seconds (yes, 20 seconds on the floor) is a great way to establish a rhthym, eh coach? I cannot tell you how concerned I am for this program after this game. This team is way overhyped and VERY poorly coached. Just another terrible disappointment to get in the back of a long line of nut kicking disappointments administered to UNT fans (all 30 of us) over the last 6 years. EDIT: I really don't know how some of you old timers have done it for so many years. You must seriously hate yourself.12 points

Dear North Texas, I wanted to do this in person, but I just couldn't muster the courage to do so. We've been together for nearly 8 years and at first it was great and so new. We were 21 and the world couldn't stop us. As the years have gone by I feel like our relationship has taken many turns for the worse. I give you money every week so you can have all the best things in life, not to mention the debt I am still in because of the first 4 years of our relationship. Also, I have developed a severe drinking problem due to my disappointment in you. Anyways, this letter is written because I feel like you take me for granted and I think we need some time apart. I just want you to know....it's you, not me. Love Always, cdizzle865 points

So stupid. Maybe we should make a special "I love JJ/I hate JJ" forum and you and P1, CMJ, and the others can go in that forum and try to hash out past history. That way the rest of us don't have to see it interlaced in every thread.4 points

We lose by 30 and get courted by Under Armor for a uniform deal. On the upside, Tony Mitchell throws for 350 yards, and the team grades out at 95%. I have no idea what I'm saying. I'm just trying to process this much talent playing so poorly so far.4 points

Pshhhh. I bet you don't ever see any of those losers on a Ballislife video. We can dunk to rap music better than them any day of the week.3 points

I remember a bit of this with McDonald, but not to the extent that we've seen through 3 games. It made sense to me in the exhibition. It even made sense to me at the start of the Creighton game...the Jays had little film on us and I felt our depth for stretches could match theirs. When it stopped making sense was when I started seeing players hit shots (rare, I know) and immediately being subbed out. It happened to Holman and Franklin against Creighton and it happened to Franklin (who may well have been last night's MVP) at least twice against UAH. At this point, this line-up should be CJ, Alzee, Franklin Mitchell and Coleman. CJ on a short leash, but he did seem to wake up late last night...Mitchell could roam in the offense and possibly keep him out of cheap fouls on the defensive end with an actual 5 on the floor. If ever UNT has had a "6th man" thy name is Jordan Williams. Bring him off the bench, let him gun against 2nd teamers...if he's on he stays on the floor, if not he sits. If shooting percentage was based not on made shots but only hitting the rim, Clarke Overlander would only be shooting 67%. I'm in the camp that believes he'll turn into a fine player, but he is not ready to go from a 3A high school power forward to a division 1 shooting guard...not against Creighton or in the final moments of close game like he was last night.3 points

This is the second most upset I have ever been about a basketball team. When the Mavs lost the Finals in 2006 to the Heat + refs, I was furious, mainly because the Mavs were completely screwed by the refs. There are no excuses for this debacle. If this is what I think it is, RV needs to be fired, along with Benford.3 points

Well of course, everyone knows that free basing or"plugging" bath salts is the same as smoking pot. I also heard that they both lead to murder! Scientific proof delivered here... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=54xWo7ITFbg&feature=youtube_gdata_player3 points

Just had to share this story with the Mean Green Family – it says so much about this team. I am 5th year senior O-lineman #70 Coleman Feeley’s mom. Traveling up from Austin on Saturday for the “Sr. Bowl” against USA we experienced major car trouble in major traffic on 35. Our hearts were breaking realizing that we were going to miss the senior presentation before the game; that our son would be out there without us. To make a long story short, we were able to communicate with Mary Hardin, Football Administrative Assistant Extraordinaire, who does so much for this team. She arranged for the wonderful Jamie Simmonds, O-line Coach Mike Simmonds’ wife, to be with Coleman on the field. As the parent of a college football player, you pray for someone like Jamie to be near your son. Coaches’ wives and families live and breathe Mean Green Football too and their contribution, while mostly unseen, is immeasurable and invaluable. We learned the rest of the story when we finally arrived at the stadium at the end of the first quarter…Not only was Jamie Simmonds there for my son, but the whole O-line came out on the field – my son’s “brothers” were with him. While we always knew the Senior Family portrait would provide a bittersweet memory, we had no idea what a poignant picture it would be. Thank you everyone. Go Mean Green! (Many thanks to the Fortenberrys for photo – the family portrait with Jamie by Rick Yeats can be seen on the RYJ website)3 points

Thank you so much. We’re really enjoying the videos too! Coleman is indeed planning to pursue a career in sports broadcasting. And thank you all for your kind words. We will always remain steadfast and dedicated Mean Green Football fans! We’re excited about the future of this program and proud our son and his ‘brothers’ have helped to build the foundation of what is to come. Mean Green Family! Go Mean Green!3 points

Well last year, the guy that built the Titanic had 2 of the engines fail when were halfway across the Atlantic. At least this year, we're still close enough to shore to go back and get it fixed.3 points

well my wife's aunt broke her collarbone and ankle in a fall. She was out about 6 weeks but she is now back to form knocking down 3's and dunking. Im sure Walton can get back with it.3 points

Hope you enjoyed your last 'pin-the-tail-on-the-donkey' win, because you're not going to have any more.2 points

Personally, I don't need this team to help make me look like a fool. I do a great job of that on my own.2 points

What we need is a proven assistant from a respected major program with connections to players like Tony Mitchell.2 points

There's no silver lining in this. We traded the guy who built the Titanic for the captain who ran it into an iceberg.2 points

UAH could end up beating K State tomorrow or winning the national championship later on. No one around here gives two flips about Alabama Huntsville or probably ever heard of them. Odds are if we get the usual coverage in the Star and DMN as we do get no one will even know, especially since it is still football season and this is Texas. Rick2 points

I don't know, but I recall one stretch where he had 2 rebounds in a little over a minute of play... And then was promptly subbed out... After just over a minute of play... But, he is lucky. Some guys were subbed in and out in under a minute.2 points

You did all that to watch the worst FBS program in the nation, but you're bailing on this basketball team in the second game of the year?2 points

This is about a poorly coached basketball team that can't shoot the basketball. I think this will sadly bear itself out as we move forward.2 points

The concerning thing is rebounding. We have 3 games to look at now (yes, counting the exhibition). All three we were outrebounded. All three. When you say you are going to emphasize something, and you have more talent than the last guy, and then that very thing gets worse, EVERYONE should be concerned about whether or not you know what you are doing.2 points

I was extremely sad when we lost JJ. Never understood those who criticized him. I can guarantee this game would have been a W if he was still around...and don't get me wrong, I'm not saying TB is a bad coach, but JJ was the man and understood Mean Green BB better than anyone.2 points

All of the people who liked to rag on JJ every chance they got, and said we'd do do the same with just about anyone and better with most -- man up. First loss to a Division 2 school in 27 FREAKING years.2 points

Love that SMU and UH left CUSA before this happened. They might not have if they knew this was going to be the outcome (although the money would be hard to resist), which wouldn't have allowed us an opportunity to move up. Thought they were going to the big time and found out that, in essence, they just joined a new version of the MWC.2 points

Very different from a bus. Coach seating has plenty of leg-room. The lounge car has lots of glass windows and places to sit with friends and drink and talk. Dining car serves meals in route. And if you want a little......uh......ahem........privacy for the trip then you can rent a room for what such privacy would, uh, provide! I have done just such many times.2 points
-
Plus, the CUSA conference championship game is played at the home of the division winner with best record, and if you happen to win the championship and don't make access bowl, you still play in the CUSA #1 bowl. Lot's of positives for the CUSA team that plays well.2 points
