  1. I'm sure not ready to take to the bank that we'll have one more win this year than last year.

  2. Honestly, just shut up. Just please, shut the hell up. You sound like a 11 year old girl who didn't get the pony she wanted for her birthday. I'm going to go ahead and assume that yes, the AD staff, you know...people hired for such a role with a background and education in such a role...do in fact know more about promotions and such than I do. I'm also going to assume that Mac has a plan, and that Todge had one as well. I don't see the point you're making there...every coach has a plan, but not all coaches have a good plan. I also don't see the point you're making about the cupboard being bare again. Just because a shitty coach inherited a bad team with a bare cupboard, and then also left said team years later with a bare cupboard (remember the "shitty" part of his title), doesn't mean that EVERY coach will do this. Seriously, this is the single stupidest, most worthless post I've seen on this site in my few months here. Mac won more games in less than 2 years than Dodge did in 43 games. If you don't see a difference, then you have one less working eye than Mac does.

  3. The school I coach at won the district title tonight! We are 8-0-1 on the season so far. Having a great year! Hoping to top it off with a mean green w tomorrow!

  6. A few weeks ago I went to my favorite taco stand and received a dime from the Cayman Islands as change. Had it in my pocket for two of my daughters soccer games and got two wins. Decided to take it to the ULL game and bingo, hit again. It will be with me tomorrow at Apogee.

  7. SMH. There is a bit of misconception going on here folks and no reason for the negative crap being spewed. The hotel reservations were made at the start of the year. The Athletic Department was fully aware of the TMS Race this weekend, they didn't just make a change this week. The Hotel around TMS is where they have been staying during the entire Mac Era except for race weekends which is a straight shot up 35w to Apogee. Pre-Mac they stayed at the Holiday Inn there in Denton. The way Mac has it structured required more space and therefore the reason the team moved hotels when Mac took charge of the program. Tonight they are in Los Colinas. The amount of time required for the kids to participate, in the Bonfire, would take them away from their normal pre-game routine which is scheduled down to the minute. Meetings (Positional and Team), Dinner, Treatments, Film, along with other preparations take up the players evening from 5pm until 9 or 9:30pm with lights out at 11pm. Attending the Bonfire would pretty much replace every part of the normal pre-game schedule these guys have been living for the past 8 weeks. These coaches believe in structure and do everything possible to maintain that structure. That structure remains the same whether a game is played at home or away. It's a shame the players can't participate tonight but I'd much rather have them focusing on their performance tomorrow. I also respect the structure and discipline that has been established by Coach Mac.

  9. I just can't wait to get out of the Sun Belt. Logic in any sense never applies to any team in this conference. Explain ULM this year, WKU last year, Troy barely beating us, losing to FAU, and then almost winning at Tennessee, MTSU losing to an FCS team and then beating Georgia Tech, etc. etc. etc.... Simply put, somewhere, for some reason, there is someone with a voodoo doll of each Belt team, and they love screwing with the fans of each and every one of the teams in some way.

  10. The most surprising bright spot to me was PJ Hardwick. The dude he made look silly on the baseline was a defender that was in his ear on the in-bounds just before. Really impressed me that he responded like he did.

  11. There are more than 4,000 seats in the lower bowl. The place seats 10,000 and I know there aren't 6,000 seats in the upper section.

  12. I don't think he said anything about not setting ourselves back. His point was Troy couldn't really be considered behind us during anytime since they came into our consciousness around the Sunbelt. I am not sure what you are trying to prove by quoting their web site. Yes, they moved to D1 in 2001, and yes they beat us in 2001. So, since they beat us going back 11 years ago, how can you say they passed us up 6-7 years ago? They have had a good football program for a long time, we have not. Was our football program ever ahead of them?

  13. If the football players being at the homecoming bonfire is a long-standing tradition (never made it up for the bonfire), then this is piss poor planning, plain and simple. But the even worse piss poor planning was scheduling Arkansas St for homecoming (last year's conference champs and a favorite this year) when you have S. Alabama next weekend. I fear a large crowd may be very disappointed tomorrow. Hope I'm wrong.

  14. Am I the only one that thinks that putting up the team in a hotel is a big example of waste in college football. Yes, I know they all do it and it is because among other things that most of the team lives off campus. I would not be opposed to the NCAA outlawing payments in lieu of dorm residence to non-married athletes. Seems to me it would be best for the athletes and schools and would close a massive element of recruiting abuses.

  15. So far I have seen all types of adjectives to describe this team today....classless, quitters, heartless to say a few. Now, I am ready to say a few things. You never enter a game expecting to play like UNT played today. I admit they did not play well, but to call them quitters, heartless, classless...I have to say to not look past your own mirror when you call any football team, player or coach those names. Because alot of people I see here are ACTING..classless...like quitters and heartless. It easy to sit in your living room watching a game and drinking a beer and second guess what is going on in the game. But, I doubt few of you have ever played on Friday nights, much less on Saturday afternoon. I have always said to critics / arm chair qbs....FOR THOSE THAT DON'T UNDERSTAND THE PLAYERS AND WHAT THEY ARE GOING THROUGH, WAS NEVER A PLAYER. I had a coach in college that told my team in a similar season that it is easy to walk away when the season is not going your way...It is a measure of the individual and the TEAM on how you REACT to that bad season. There is a life lesson here. Remember, this team is comprised of our friends, classmates, peers and in my case, my son. We are all much better than this...on and off the field...it is time to start acting like it.

  17. And thank goodness we got all that structure lined out last night or ASU may have put up 31 on us in the first half like Middle did last week? I particularly like that play action pass down the middle that ASU used to score their first TD. Since obviously they didn't have near as much space to work in for their pre-game prep as the Mean Green did in Las Colinas, I imagine they miay have drawn that one up while eating the continental breakfast at the Denton Holiday Inn this morning? Oh well, see everyone next week. Rick

  18. I know my post came off a bit strong, but I meant no disrespect. I do completely disagree though. How are we seeing the same things still? If I recall, last year was our first season with more than 3 wins in quite some time, no? Had we gone 2-10 last year and if we were 1-7 so far this year, I could understand the more of the same argument. But we aren't. This isn't the same. We were a win away from bowl eligibility last year. We looked respectable at LSU and KState, which is a lot more than could be said under any Dodge team (of course I'm excluding the KState near-win from 2010, because Dodgeypoo wasn't coach at the time, and KState wasn't nearly as good as they are this year). The culture is slowly changing. There's a new stadium, a new walkway. These may seem superficial, but trust me, the idiots of my generation and the even dumber kids of future ones eat that shit up. We're all frustrated to some degree, whether we're experiencing this for the first time or for the 30th. It sucks for all of us. And I understand the apprehension that one has after years of empty promises and lackluster results on the field. But, you guys can't let that skew your vision of the present. Despite the struggles, this is a changed team heading in the right direction. For fun's sake, let's assume we go 4-8 this year. That's 9 wins in 2 seasons. 9-15 doesn't look pretty, no, but it looks a lot better than 6-37 does, which was Dodge's record here, to state the obvious. But, even speculation aside, let's look at the W/L % of Dodge vs that of Mac's through last weeks game. Dodge - 6-37 - .139 McCarney - 8-12 - .400 Point proven. And this is with Dodge's leftovers. Give the man some time to recruit his own players his own way, with a new stadium and new conference to use as pitches, and you'll see the end result you want. If he can do it with Iowa State, he can do it here.

  20. According to ESPN, junior LB Will Wright has thrown 2 passes. It's a mixup of the numbers obviously, but maybe we should take ESPN's advice. It's clear that none of our quarterbacks can play quarterback, so f*ck it, let's go crazy, confuse the shit out of stAte's coaches and players, and run the wildcat with Will Wright at the helm.

  25. I have read this thread twice, from the original posting by someone not-in-the-know but pretending to be, all the way through UNTNewbie’s posting, # 36 on the thread (which set the record straight!). This thread/topic, from the beginning to posting #36, is a perfect example of mis-information, negativity, absolute guessing, cheap shots at Athletic Department personnel, and generally pure BS! Just reading the postings in this topic alone it seems obvious to me that as “friends and supporters” of UNT athletics, that which so many of you boast that you are, given that fact………..God knows this university’s athletic department certainly doesn’t need any outside enemies. Talk about flashing your arse!

  32. ". If players attend the bonfire some of our experts will complain that they were out too late and should have been resting before this important game..." Sorry but this dog don't hunt. Nobody has EVER faulted the football team for attending a bonfire, FOR THEM, to get fans pumped for their game. This is poor planning, plain and simple. NASCAR doesn't announce these races in October. They too make their announcements "months in advance". But hey, what do I know, I've never been a travel agent either.

  34. Team usually doesn't stay in Denton before a game anyway. I understand they stay in the hotel out near the raceway. have no clue where they are staying this Friday night....due to that race. But, reservations are made months in advance. Stuff happens (in this case perhaps traffic issues)....also understand that the team is pretty much on lockdown and had a week-long curfew in getting ready for this very important game. Am sure it is also a "darned if you do...darned if you don't deal". If players attend the bonfire some of our experts will complain that they were out too late and should have been resting before this important game....if they don't show up some of our experts will complain that it was the AD and staff's fault for not planning better. Am sure Coach Mac and his team are way too busy getting ready for this homecoming game to worry about what folks think about this...I am just keeping all fingers and toes crossed that the team starts fast, comes out strong and wins the game Saturday. Too bad about the bonfire thing...it sucks to not have them there, but it is what it is.....and the sun will come up Saturday over Apogee either way! BEAT ARKY STATE!!!!!

  43. And...I will keep saying that...any coach who listens to a bunch of folks who are great only in their own minds and who have never coached at the FBS/D1 level even one day is not worth having as a coach. You know, Emmitt....everyone knows how to be a better cop too...you know...how they could have kept that lady from getting killed after the lack of response after the 911 call...everyone that is who has never been a cop, who wasn't there and who has no dog in the hunt that is.... And coaching at the pee wee level doesn't really count any more than watching a cop show on TV. I'll stick with the guys who make their living coaching at the college level over a bunch of "I could do it better" message board arm chair Coaches...you can do as you please as well. Just sayin.....

  45. http://www.meangreen...TCLID=205722407 Article states NT finishes in 15 place, which although not stated was last place. I expect homerism in the AD staff's reporting but how about giving out some information. Trying to polish a very bad performance is not good reporting or fair to the people who actually read the article to find out how the team is doing. It does provide a link in this story to see the actual scores but that is not always the case. Report it slanted if you wish, but at least give out the basic data.
