Watching party at Rudy's BBQ in Allen starts 10/27 at 2pm (kickoff at 2:30). Top 10 Reasons to come to Rudy's BBQ Saturday to watch the game (in no particular order): 1. Watch, cheer, and scream with fellow Mean Green fans 2. Only place in town to hear Cary scream "And that's good for a Mean Green..." 3. Great BBQ 4. Don't have to huddle around a computer or your iPhone/iPad 5. Mean Green beer specials 6. Free UNT items (pens, posters, stickers, etc.) 7. North Texas door prizes at half time 8. Available info on the Mean Green Club and UNT Alumni Association (available, not pushed) 9. Support a restaurant chain that supports North Texas 10. Free admission and open to the public4 points

I know a lot of people, ask them a lot of questions, listen to what they do and don't say. Doesn't mean I can't be dead wrong or just mislead, but I think I have a pretty decent track record. ETA: Actually, those are all lies, it's mostly:3 points

I'm bored. MPG PPG RPG APG SPG BPG Tony Mitchell - 29.2 15.3 10.8 1.8 1.1 3.2 - Scoring numbers go up a bit, rebounding numbers level off or drop slightly b/c of better rebounding team Chris Jones - 31.8 12.1 5.1 5.8 2.3 0.2 - Scoring takes a dip, but assists numbers go up...hopefully with a better A:T ratio Alzee Williams - 28.2 10.9 3.1 1.7 2.0 0.2 - he earns his minutes with everything else he does on the floor...I think this will be a very efficient 10ppg (>8-10 shots a night) Jordan Williams - 24.7 10.1 4.0 1.3 1.3 0.5 - if he's improved even to a 30-35% 3-pt shooter he's the second scoring option and minutes go up Jacob Holmen - 18.7 8.8 3.7 0.8 0.3 0.1 - scoring is there, but doesn't rebound for a 4 or defend for a 3 well enough to earn extended minutes Justin Patton - 23.1 8.3 5.9 2.0 1.0 0.5 - glue guy Roger Franklin - 17.9 6.9 4.7 1.1 0.5 0.5 - glue guy, bench version Keith Coleman - 19.4 6.1 6.7 0.3 0.2 1.7 - I'm over the moon if this is his end stat line Brandon Walton - 8.7 3.9 1.8 0.8 0.7 0.0 - he plays more if no one (namely JW and CJ) have improved their perimeter shooting PJ Hardwick - 12.2 3.1 1.1 2.8 1.0 0.0 - I bet it will be a fun 10-12 minutes a night when PJ's out there Niko Stojko - 8.2 2.8 2.4 0.8 0.3 0.1 - if he plays more, I think it means Mitchell and/or Coleman are in foul trouble C. Overlander - 3.2 1.3 0.3 0.3 0.2 0.0 - even if he's a better shooter than Walton, I doubt he's up to the pace of the college game just yet Thoughts?2 points

This weekend the men and womens cross teams compete for the Sun Belt title in Bowling Green, Ky. Men are going in confident after beating every conference foe in their last meet at arkansas. The mens team is also entering the meet as the highest ranked team in their region (along with middle tennessee who is also ranked 13th in the south region.)2 points

I don't believe that I've seen anyone else mention this. If you look at the Sun Belt standings, every team currently ranked above us is a team that we have yet to play. South Alabama is of course not one of them, but if you assume wins for each game, as we of course hope will be the case, even if the other teams above us win every game other than the one in which we beat them, we would move up exactly 1 spot after playing each game (average) - staying in the same spot after one game and jumping 2 spots after winning the next. This week: MUTS is directly ahead of us; beat them and we switch spots. Next week: If we beat ASU and the other 2 both win, we would both be 5-4 and thus we would be ranked higher due to the tie-breaker. Then USA, if we win, would leave us in the same spot. Beat ULM, then because of tiebreakers (us over them, them over WacKY), we jump 2 spots to #1. Then of course we play in the land of K-Y and hope to win yet again to stay in first place. Still some tough games ahead, but looking at the schedule and the rankings made me think of a boxing movie or something, moving up the rankings one spot at a time. Of course, it will be much cooler if it actually happens!2 points

True, but DT's under appreciated assets is his deceptive ellusiveness and throwing the ball away instead of focing throws or trying too hard to make the big play. Gotta give DT credit here too.2 points

Why hasn't Chico implemented the play where the receiver is always wide open for a TD?2 points

Chico should design pass routes that always keep one receiver 20 yards down field and directly in line with the primary receiver, problem solved.2 points

He'll sometimes make random comments at the football players (especially the ones that are letting the students' smack talk get to them). Most of it's band inside jokes. Example, the drumline will try to all hit a note at the same time to scare the director. It never works, and the band, drum line, and director always have a good line. Sometimes he'll have a good one liner about drunk fans that try to sit in the band section's front row. Random things and such.1 point

Now that Lewisville is non-smoking, I'd be open to a Fox and Hound thing. Didn't want to take the child there last time. Then again, she's going to a birthday party tomorrow and I have no idea what time it ends. Anyhow, if Lewisville is meeting up, let me know.1 point

See, this is what I'm curious about. What's he saying that's so funny? I'm almost tempted to go venture into the depths of the student section just so I can hear him, but the only time I ever did that, they damn near stampeded my poor kid, so I'm left wondering.1 point

Really? It's my duty to choose between cads like John McCain and emptyhead Barak Obama? Or, still empty-headed Barak Obama and born wealthy Romney? I'm supposed to get up for an election between Ted Cruz, a moron who talks that flat tax garbage, and that Sadler fella who can't get enough of taxing people out of their money? Neither one of them are worth the effort. I've heard all the arguments before, and they're all stupid. No one died for my right to vote. The Revolutionary War was fought because rich land owners in America didn't want to pay more taxes. All this pretense about noble baloney. They died because, before 1972, the government drafted them on threat of imprisonment. They died whether they wanted to die or not. And, not for my right to vote, but to keep dickholes in faraway lands from coming over here. They died because the government sent them to protect the economic interests of the United States and its Allies. It had nothing to do with voting. Hell, even the communists hold elections. Why do you think Germany, Italy, Britiain, America, and the Sovit Union were fighting each other in North Africa? For our right to vote? Hell no. Control over the Suez Canal and the Arabian oil fields were crucial. Voting my ass. it was all about economic self-preservation. It always is. Even the most recent war had nothing to do with voting. Rather, it was waged to show the baal worship maggots in the middle east that if they terrorized us on our own soil that we would open a can of technologically superior whoopass on them in the own countries. If we go to war with Iran, it will not be about voting. It'll be about knocking that pissant Ahmadinejad's dick in the dirt once and for all. Politicians...to hell with all of them. I'd vote for a crusty, 15 year old ding dong still half wrapped in foil before I'd throw the switch for the worthless like of Romney, Obama, Cruz, or Sadler. Blowhards. Just look at what they do - nothing but turn people against one another in the name of whatever their political philosophy is. Screw that. These crazy people calling me everyday to ask for money for their candidate. If an American bald eagle flew over my front lawn and crapped out so little as a penny I wouldn't give it to those maggots. Wake the f*ck up, people. You are the only ones who can change or make your situation better. It's not Obama, Romnuts, Cruz, Sadler, or any of them. Ignore the politicians and get on with your lives. There's nothing Patriotic or noble about choosing any of them. Phony baloney.1 point

unlike anakin, we control our own destiny. when we win out, there's a chance that we "share" the title, but we'll hold the head-to-head... so we can claim #11 point

Yeah this was who I was referencing, I just don't think we have a shot with the kid. I'm sure we'll be able to find a capable JUCOreplacement or at least a 260-270 lb JUCO RT who was a step quicker than most lineman.1 point

From this week's game notes... North Texas knocked off Louisiana-Lafayette, which entered the game with a 4-1 record. It was the first win for the Mean Green over a team with a 4-1 record or better since 2001. The last North Texas win over a team with a 4-1 record or better was when the Mean Green knocked off a 5-0 Middle Tennessee team in 2001. That win was the start of a 26-game conference winning streak.1 point

I find this comment sad. I believe it is a duty for every citizen in a free nation to vote...lots of good men and women have died to protect this right......please reconsider this position and take your rightful position in this republic of ours, honor those who fought and died to protect this right and vote. I know it's also your choice...another great thing about this republic of ours...but please....reconsider. Too late for the current election, but another will follow.1 point

Yeah he's back, but I've heard a couple times that Kaydon Kirby is outplaying him. Kirby is our strongest true freshman offensive lineman and is built well at 6'3" 300 lbs. It's kind of a shock he didn't have any offers since he has some solid high school film from 5A Flower Mound. Looks like we got a steal here.1 point

I wasn't really thinking about the title being split as much as the fact that our remaining schedule has us going up the ladder one rung at a time. To me, it just seemed like fate. The schedule was made long before we knew who would be ranked where at what point in the season, you know?1 point

Yes, it is. And it needs to be fixed. I walked into a Sports apparel store on Granbury square (the most out of place sports apparel store EVER). I was wearing a UNT T-Shirt and expected to see none of our gear there. I was immediately engaged by the owner (Yes, that is the way Granbury rolls; No, I did not say one thing to initiate the convo) who acknowledges my UNT T shirt and points to a UNT clock that he has on the wall. He also tells me he has a couple of other items, but "I can't get anything else. I've tried, but there is just nothing out there for sale." He went on to say something about only being able to buy UNT stuff that is made in the USA. Didn't quite understand that. The only other items were a golf towel and some stupid stickers. He had every other local college's stuff in there. Hell, he had more Tarleton St. stuff than he did UNT stuff. And to be perfectly clear, these were unsolicited comments by the owner of the business. It is sad when merchandisers can't orfer your stuff to sell. It is sad when you have a top 5 NBA lottery pick in your program and you can't be bothered to have ONE DAMN THING with his number on it in your book store 3 WEEKS BEFORE HIS SECOND FREAKING SEASON OF PLAY!!! Frankly, it's insulting to Tony Mitchell. Of course, we should also have Chris Jones and Jordan Williams jerseys for sale, but that is simply a pipe dream. Unforgivable and extremely SMALL TIME.1 point
