This pillow fight is almost... almost as silly as a fully clothed man attempting to streak but giving up right after getting his courage up to try.4 points

Give Andre ware over Howard every time. I listened to Howard for about 5 minutes and wanted to rip my ears off. He's better on game day.4 points

Chico should design pass routes that always keep one receiver 20 yards down field and directly in line with the primary receiver, problem solved.3 points

Why hasn't Chico implemented the play where the receiver is always wide open for a TD?2 points

My Mom wrote for the Daily back in the 70's and knew Blakeley quite well. Trust me, he wanted Spudd Webb very badly. Newman turned Webb away.2 points

The biggest win of the season will be the one that gets us into the tourney. Unless we go undefeated and lose in the conference tournament championship, chances are the Belt is still a 1 bid league.2 points

I believe the real key is for our backs and WRs to take a knee or go out of bounds at the 21 if they do not think they can score. As long as the plays start outside the 20, we will be fine.2 points

Spud verbally committed to play for Coach Blakeley. Blake was fired and we brought in Tommy Newman. Newman felt that Spud would not fit into his slow ass brand of ball. Spud went on to Juco before signing with Jimmy Valvano and North Carolina State; winning a National Championship.and having lucrative NBA career. Newman was fired after failing to ever get the ball up court.2 points

Does it? It seems that, under the new system, no matter how much we win, it will not be possible for us to participate in one of the big bowls. Under the current structure, the carrot of getting to play in a BCS bowl was there. Now it isn't there. Either way, we have to improve before this is a real issue for us.2 points

It's their home opener and they are expecting a sell out. Unfortunately I think I am out, as my last best hope (Obi Wan Roadtripi) let me down. *Please don't do any Darell Dickey on this game, the score will end 14 - 12 and people will complain we ran the same half court offense over and over even if we win.2 points

I was told once, but have now forgotten, specific numbers. I do remember that they expect to "sell out" club level seats next year. I put that in quotation marks because they will actually hold some of the seats in reserve as guest seats for the club members to buy. However, every seat they want to sell in the club level they expect to have sold by next year. At about ~$7K minimum investment for each seat, that's good news.2 points

I mentioned a few years ago about a skinny freshman named Oberkrom who I witnessed putting on a display of kicking I had never seen before at the HS level for Arlington Martin High School vs Trinity in a playoff game. He's now the skinny freshman kicking for TCU, and he's just as solid for the frogs as he was for Martin. ........ But, his replacement this year for Martin, Ben Grogan, can not only drop kick, as he did in a game against Weatherford on October 8th, http://highschoolspo...on-friday.html/.....but he has a hell of a leg with accuracy from the the hold as well, hitting from 56, 52,52 and 43 along with two other hits, six total against North Crowley last week. http://highschoolspo...on-friday.html/ By the way, I expect Oberkrom to break the college distance record at some point in his career for TCU. McCarney run up the score 24-0 at the half, gets loose on the Goose. Stumbles across the field and saws off the horn off the blue unicorn and drinks the unicorn blood becoming forever invincible taking us to the National Championship for the next 500 years.2 points

They way I heard it, is that Blakely didn't think Spud was ready for Div I, and had him go JUCO, intending to bring him in as a Junior. But then Valvano noticed him, and he decided to go to NC State (not surprisingly). Looking at Spud's wiki page http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spud_Webb (yeah, I know, but I'm just looking for the factual info), he was at Midland College for 81-82, and NC State for 83-85. Then according to the NT Basketball page http://en.wikipedia....39;s_basketball, Blakeley was gone at the end of 82-83, and Newman started in the fall of 83. So it could be true that Newman turned him away. But if it's true that Blakeley sent him to Midland, then that was also a mistake. I do remember hearing about Spud possibly coming to NT well before 1983.1 point

One thing: Why is it that anytime TM is advertised somewhere that mentions him averaging a double double, they refer to him as the ONLY freshman to do so last year? Um.....there was this dude, with a certain ugly eyebrow problem....I think he went to some school in the backwoods ironically enough? Rumor has it he's moved south to New Orleans? Oh yeah, that's right, Anthony Davis from Kentucky...number one overall pick; he averaged a double double as well. I don't want to place false blame anywhere, but I'm pretty sure that it was our athletic dept's marketing team who continually overlooked that one.1 point

Marketing/Promotions is about raising brand awareness more than anything else. The effectiveness of said marketing/promotion event is determined by not only attendance for that single event but also for subsequent (in this case) games after said event.1 point

It's just a warm up for spring season. They don't count in standings nor do stats count as official stats. You will also see teams play schools from different levels (i.e. 4 year schools playing against Jucos). It's basically a 3 week period where coaches can see what they have.1 point

It seems the winds are changing. We still have the dreaded paycheck game, but the other 3 games next year are all against comparable competition. Assuming smoo does not all of a suddent get great, we will have them and Army, plus TBD in addition to our paycheck game. Having 3 of 4 OOC games against reasonable teams will help, and maybe we catch lightning in bottle in a paycheck game. As a reminder, we have not finished at .500 or better in the last 18 years in our OOC schedule. I believe we are a ticking time bomb waiting to go off with some consistent winning. We are the only public university in DFW that plays in the FBS. The fact that if we start winning it will come against other Texas teams and semi recognizable out of state names from CUSA will only add to the level of success.1 point

You have 4 years to play 5. A single snap burns one of those four years. Not playing one of the years is a "redshirt" year. There is no such thing as a "medical redshirt." There is a Hardship Waiver (HW). A player can apply for a HW if they have a season ending injury as long as they: 1) Played in less than 30% of the teams regular season games, and 2) did not play a single game AFTER the midpoint of the regular season. In football terms, considering a 12 game regular season, that means a player is eligble to apply for a HW if 1) they played less than three or fewer games, and 2) none of those games happened after the sixth game. Also, it is a waiver that you apply for and the NCAA rules on. Some school have great luck when applying for those...1 point

Agree 100% with this. The amount of die hards we have is way out of proportion with the amount of winning this program has had. I would agree except for 2003. Sure we only went 1-3. But the losses were to #1 OU (12 wins), #14 Arkansas (9 wins) and a tough Air Force team (8 wins). And we killed Baylor 52-14. Not saying it was a perfect dream season....1 point

no i like his little quips... they are pretty funny... but on a sidenote... I was more disappointed that the ULL/Arky St. game had Joe Tessitore and Desmond Howard as their announcer, while we got some scrub and Andre Ware... I need more Desmond Howard at UNT1 point
