To my recollection, here is a majority of what was talked about during last night's show..... -Mac was in a really good mood last night. It was a well attended event including the coaches wives of McCarney, Quartaro, Nelson and Skladany. -Mac said the team during his time as North Texas Head Coach has won the next game during the season in which they have had more than one week off between games. -The coaches took Saturday off this past weekend for the first time since July. On Sunday they arrived early to break down game film of the MUTS vs Mississippi State game. Even though the Sunbelt's leading rusher RB Benny Cunningham is lost for the season with an injury, MUTS does have a group of younger talented RB's to replace him. MUTS does use a Hurry Up Offense. -Zac Whitfield was first approached in spring ball to move to Cornerback. The actual change from RB did not occur until August when it was determined he could not break into the top 3 RB positions. -+6 Turnover Margin for the season which is very good except we have only recovered four of the opposition's fumbles. Mac said that must improve. They work on ripping the ball from the ball carrier every week in practice. -Five Sunbelt teams have an over .500 overall season record which George said is the most they have ever had in the league. There is a five way second place tie at 2-1 in the conference with Troy close by at 3-2. -George made mention of Zach Orr being the Sunbelt Defensive Player of the Week which has not happened in a while. -Antoine Jimmerson's two receiving TD's marked the first time a North Texas RB has had two TD receptions in a game in 10 years. -A question from the audience was asked to Mac about the status of any injured players. Mac said he has a policy that he only talks about injuries if it is season ending which is the case for Derek Teegarden with a broken finger in the ULL game. Mac does not want the opposition to know that a particular player has a specific injury and the opposition might use that information to their advantage. -A question was written on a napkin asking if Will Atterberry was given a game ball from his performance against ULL. Mac said all the coaches determine who gets game balls and the decision was made to give one to Jimmerson and another to Coach Skladany. Mac went on to talk about how well Atterberry played. He said Will is a very coachable player as he does everything they ask of him from directional punts to deep punts to really high punts. Mac also complimented Zach Olen's performance. -Facebook with Poppy: -Any chance we will see more of Carlos Harris? Mac said Carlos is smart enough and skilled enough to see more playing time. However with him being a true freshman not everything has clicked yet particularly when it comes to blocking but Mac does see Carlos with more playing time very soon. -Comment about the OLine only allowing three sacks this season all of which were against Kansas State. Mac commented about how well Coleman Feeley and LaChris Anyiam were playing. This season is the most Coleman has played in his career and LaChris "had one foot out of door last year" but fortunately stayed on the team. Only six Offensive Lineman have played in games this season. -As always when the radio show comes back from a commercial break the audio of a prior week highlight play is played. When they played back George's play by play call of Jimmerson's 72 yard screen pass, Mac said that replay gave him goose bumps all over his arms. GMG! BEAT MUTS!8 points

Huge week in the Belt will be kicked off tonight at 7 on ESPN2, very similar to last week, with two 1 loss teams in Arky State and LaLa. Just like our game will be vs MUTS this week, the game between Arky State and LaLa will put one of the preseason favorites at 2 conference losses and in need of help to win the conference, while another will go to 3-1 and put themselves right in the thick of the conference race. I have LaLa at home in this one over a down Arky State team. Should be a very interesting game. As for the rest of the conference, this is a huge week. Here are my personal predictions: Blowout of the Week: UL Monroe over South Alabama - Just too much firepower on the side of ULM and an underrated defense that has played very well of late, save for the first half against WKU last week. South Alabama had a good showing against FAU to pick up a conference win, but I just don't see their secondary keeping up with Browning and co. for too long. Upset of the Week: FIU over WKU - Somewhat a hunch, but with Medlock back under center for FIU they are a completely different team. WKU might be the best team from top to bottom in this conference, but they aren't built for a shootout which this game may become. If this game becomes a shootout in Miami the advantage tilts toward FIU. Close Games: Troy over FAU - Should be a lot closer than some think as I think FAU can slow down that Troy passing attack. FAU held Browning to 147 passing yards and probably would've held DT to less when we played them if they didn't have 8 or 9 in the box. Unlike the FIU pick, even if FAU is able to ugly this game up at home Troy still can win, just like they won an ugly game against us in Denton. Pulling for FAU, but Troy should be able to add to FAU's miserable season UNT over MUTS - How can I pick against us after our most recent half of football? I was born and lived in the Murfreesboro area until I was seven, so yo can't call this a homer pick. Okay maybe you can but if we can slow down that rushing attack and make Logan Kilgore have to beat us we should win, but Amos is a receiver we will have to keep tabs on and don't be surprised if he makes some plays. They still can run the ball without Cunningham but his absence does hurt their big play ability. I'd like to see Jim Jim get more touches on offense for us with his big play ability. They are a much better team now, but with basically the same line back for us that paved the way for 464 rushing yards against them last year I look for us to control the clock and eat up yards on the ground all day. I don't expect a blowout, because our style of play doesn't much call for that, but more of a sound victory.4 points

We are truly blessed to have George and Hank as announcers. Best in the Belt by a wide margin and will instantly be the best in CUSA the 1st game they call. Way batter than many "major" programs.3 points

I was thinking he was referring to the LSU game, but still the K-State game was a little too far back to use as a predictor of how the rest of our season will go. That game was before the Troy game after all, and I don't think we want that game to be an indication of how our season will go. It is cool to see K-State be so successful and the fact that we played them so close is something to hang our hat on. College Football is about what have you done for me lately, and lately we just dominated a good team but if we go out and stink it up against MUTS, then the LaLa win will be soon forgotten. Once the season is over then we can reflect on our good performances, but for now we have to focus on the now and capitalizing on this chance to compete for the conference title and make a bowl. That is just my opinion.3 points

I am not convinced that FIU was a better get for CUSA than ULL, but I suppose they probably had both LA schools voting against them. Those crazy cajuns are good people with some pretty nice facilities and solid support. FIU is so much larger, but South Fla is a tough sports market.3 points

Yes, it is. And it needs to be fixed. I walked into a Sports apparel store on Granbury square (the most out of place sports apparel store EVER). I was wearing a UNT T-Shirt and expected to see none of our gear there. I was immediately engaged by the owner (Yes, that is the way Granbury rolls; No, I did not say one thing to initiate the convo) who acknowledges my UNT T shirt and points to a UNT clock that he has on the wall. He also tells me he has a couple of other items, but "I can't get anything else. I've tried, but there is just nothing out there for sale." He went on to say something about only being able to buy UNT stuff that is made in the USA. Didn't quite understand that. The only other items were a golf towel and some stupid stickers. He had every other local college's stuff in there. Hell, he had more Tarleton St. stuff than he did UNT stuff. And to be perfectly clear, these were unsolicited comments by the owner of the business. It is sad when merchandisers can't orfer your stuff to sell. It is sad when you have a top 5 NBA lottery pick in your program and you can't be bothered to have ONE DAMN THING with his number on it in your book store 3 WEEKS BEFORE HIS SECOND FREAKING SEASON OF PLAY!!! Frankly, it's insulting to Tony Mitchell. Of course, we should also have Chris Jones and Jordan Williams jerseys for sale, but that is simply a pipe dream. Unforgivable and extremely SMALL TIME.3 points

"There Was a Surplus But It Wasn't Used to Pay Down The Debt Some people claim that there was a surplus but it wasn't used to pay down the debt. They claim that one issue is whether or not you have a surplus and another issue is what you do with it; hence they also claim that you can have a surplus and not have the national debt go down. However, this is not true." You see goverment entities have these things called fund balances, a surplus would have gone into this fund balance and it does not have to be used to pay down debt. It is similar to retained earnings in private business. If the government had a surplus and spent it on anything else, that would be called an expenditure. The way this fellow talks of having extra money and having a surplus and then spending it and having a deficit proves that he doesn't know what the hell he is talking about. You can't have a surplus and a deficit in the same fund in the same year. It is one or the other. Horribly written article by someone that knows nothing about government finance.2 points

Ha! Just some good joking amongst friends. Speaking of friendly concerns... would you consider your kidneys to be... healthy? Have family members ever remarked that your were "gullible" or "too trusting." How long would before those same family members would grow concerned about your absence and report you missing to the appropriate authorities? What? No reason... market research... this is for market research.2 points

Agree....Will got UNT out of big trouble at least twice with great punts from the end zone...and did you notice the fact that he handled some rather low snaps on FG's and XP's as well. Snaps were OK, just a tad low, so no banging on Blake here who has done a great job all year, but Will really did the job Tuesday night. Mac was asked on the radio show if Will got a game ball for his efforts Tuesday...Mac said no...that really surprised me. If not Will, then who on special teams?2 points

Who's to say that a CB game against a team with a large travelling fan base would necessarily be a body bag game a couple of years from now? We're getting better, and some of the potential candidates can be up or down. I'm for it if we choose the right opponent. LSU, Alabama, and Oklahoma don't qualify.2 points

You were involved in the pillowfight of the week last week, and the little guy with the throw pillow beat ya like a rag doll. Btw, a city school covers much less territory than we do, so I believe you guys are as directional as it gets.2 points

Oh dear lord. I just discovered that I went to high school with Ted Cruz's wife. That poor bastard. That woman would step on the writhing corpse of her own mother in a stiletto to get half a rung higher up on the ladder. May God have mercy on his soul. Edit: Her brother, on the other hand, who showed even more ambition as a teenager, became a doctor, moved to the Dominican Republic, and doles out free health care to poor people and lives on next to nothing. He went to Haiti immediately after the earthquake and saved hundreds of lives. This, of course, has nothing to do with anything except how some people never change, and others change completely.1 point

You're right, Scrappy. We're on opposite sides of the political extreme. Like you, I want a balanced budget BUT I want a tax system where the rich pay their fair share. I want a government that is empowered to do the things I want government to do. I want immigration reform - not xenophobia. I want science to inform our policy & I'm not comfortable with science-denial. I don't think having an 'official language' is anything other than a manisfestation of xenophobia. I certainly don't want a Christian version of Sharia law. I don't want to drill on our most precious public land so that Exxon can make a bigger profit & so that you can pay a nickle less for gas for your guzzler. If that makes me an extreme librul, so be it. I do agree with you about the Mean Green.1 point

We lost to the third ranked team in the country on the road, but we played them even statistically. All the remaining games are winnable, so I'm saying we win the next three and split the final two. Tiebreakers will determine our bowl destination.1 point

I'm a Sophomore at Connally. Dajon has improved a lot from last year as a passer. His mobility in th pocket is as good as I've seen. Just look at the Eastview game this year. He's faster than a 5.14 with those long legs.1 point

Historically any democracy has success when they elect people with common sense and pragmatism, but alas those don't exist in the Republican Party anymore, only demagogues. But in Texas, Sadler has no chance. Bill White was about the most centrist, proven Democrat in the state, and he got flogged by governor goodhair.1 point

I would like to see Sadler win, sadly he has no chance. Having worked on campaigns for moderate middle of the road democrats, I've seen first hand people immediately turn off and tune out when you say the word democrat, no matter what the guy has accomplished. I just think it's funny that usually the tea party shuns these harvard educated, trial lawyer types, yet they totally love this guy.1 point
