  1. After looking at several blogs in here ...negative blogs....want to invite you all to go out and look at our "strength in schedule" vs other SBC opponents. NO ONE comes close to our schedule in difficulty. Yes, we should have won Troy game...but we beat that dead dog enough on why that game got away from us. But NO ONE has a non conf schedule like we did with LSU, K. ST. and Houston. Honestly, these are games that we could have won, but are they games we "should" have won??!!! MAYBE ...MAYBE Houston. We are about to get into the conf schedule. There is no way we should give up on a team that 3 of the 4 losses come from previously mentioned. These are our classmates, friends, relatives..some of us our own kids....support them like they are. Guess we will see who is TRUE MEAN GREEN next Tuesday night with ULL game.

  2. Repent now before it is too late! Our savior is coming in 1 month and 2 days to eliminate all of this blasphemy and deliver us from evil. He has been watching all of us very closely and is not pleased. I highly recommend that everyone either chill out, kick it, or keep it real for just a few more weeks.

  3. Don't worry, we are just fans griping after a loss. The people on here are not the ones you need to worry about not showing up. They will take vacation time off to be there all day Tuesday. They will be the ones yelling at the top of their lungs in support of your child. People who don't know this board exists? Well, that's another story.

  4. I don't care about UNT's improvement until it can be measured in wins.

  5. Winning this game with 2 people on the stands would do much more for our image with recruits and the general public than having a sold out stadium. You got to win to get respect. Period.

Phases of North Texas Football: 1) Fire losing coach 2) Hire new coach 3) Claim new coach is great hire 4) Build expectations for new coach 5) New coach loses 6) Call for "Patience" 7) New coach continues to lose 8) Reference "bare cupboard" 9) New coach continues to lose 10) Blame angry fans for holding to expectations created for/by new coach in Phase 4 11) New coach continues to lose 12) Fire coach (SEE Phase 1)

  8. We took a good group of folks to Houston tonight, I'd guess 2500? And it was great seeing so many faces again away from home, including Coach Fry's son Kelly. I only wished the team had given everyone more to cheer about. Rick

  10. What the hell are they doing out there? At the Houston game they seemed shaky... Yeah, I think that is the best way to put it. I wonder if they understand when they are supposed to fire up the crowd? Every away game I've been to they cheer and yell when our offense is on the field and then when our defense is trying to get a stop they are facing the field watching the game. A few times last night when our offense was facing 3rd down, the stadium announcer called for noise, and our cheerleaders turned to the Mean Green section and tried to get our crowd to make noise. I know in the grand scheme of things it wasn't going to make much of a difference, but really?!!! Look. I know the cheerleaders are volunteer and I'm thankful to them for the time they take to support our university, but there is a philosophy behind motivating and energizing the crowd. At its core that philosophy needs to center on knowing when to try and fire up our fans. Is anyone else seeing this, or is it just me?

  12. And what I'm referring to is the amount of negativity on this %^&* site. I'm going to be candid and speak my mind here, for 2 reasons. One, I'm drunk. Two, I don't really care if this gives me a warning post or a boot off the board entirely, as I have a life outside of here, and could just make a new account under a new email and no one would know the difference anyways. So, here we go. Look, I'm new here, and to Mean Green nation. Though I know about the years of crappiness that you guys have been through, I haven't personally experienced it, nor do I totally understand how it felt. I get that. What I do not get is how one game is having everyone go into %^&* panic mode. Look, we lost last night 44-21 to a better team. This is a team that was one win away from a BCS %^&* BOWL LAST YEAR. I don't care that they lost to TSSM, I don't care how pathetic their D looked in the other early games, I don't care about any of that. This was a team with a new head coach, a new QB, new receivers, new system, etc., that had their best player, Mr. RB Sims, not at full strength. It's easy to see how a team like that, a team that probably came in with too much confidence this season, lost their season opener to a team that was playing it's first FBS game and was prepared to give it 150% that first game. It doesn't take a genius to see that. It also doesn't take much to notice that we probably weren't as good as our 5-7 record last year indicated, and that we (including myself) were getting wayyyy too cocky with how well we played in LOSSES. That being said, the two teams we've beaten this year are FAU and Texas Southern. The four losses were against Houston, LSU, Kansas State, and Troy. Outside of the Troy loss, which was easily a winnable game (and in fact a game we SHOULD have won), these are 3 teams that are much, much better than we are. We should not have expected a different result than what we got. The 2 wins came against teams that we are better than. We should have expected to win, and we did. So, why the negativity??? Because Houston got upset week 1?? Please, for the love of sweet %^&*, stop applying transitive properties to football, and sports in general. THEY DO NOT WORK. The sample size of ONE GAME is far too small to draw from. Over a period of time, yeah, you can come to a conclusion. But not over one game. One does not need to look farther than this NFL season and the slew of examples we have been given. Do any of you guys actually think the Cardinals are better than the Patriots? Fuck no they aren't, and that's why they lost to the damn Rams this week. If you apply transitive logic, the Rams should destroy the Patriots and shut them down offensively. That isn't going to happen 99 out of 100 times, obviously. Football is amazing because of the variables that come into play. If the better team always won and nothing ever differed from that, the game would suck, and we all know it would. I'm going to make a final point here. Under McCarney, we are now 7-11, with a 5-3 record at home. I am going to go ahead and assume that absolutely every single %^&* one of you that are being so negative right now, would have called Mac a wizard and a genius had you been told that he'd have a 7-11 record and a 5-3 home record at this point, had you been told that immediately after the 2010 season. Give the man a chance to recruit for 4+ years, a chance to work out the kinks and get the guys HE wants for HIS system into place, before we start judging him. Remember, he's essentially playing with Todd %^&*$ Dodge's recruits right now, and doing all he can to make a respectable team out of them. Anyone who thinks he hasn't done a good job to this point is a %^&* challenged person. And I am done. I love you all, and have loved my time on this site. I'll be back under a pseudonym at some point in the future, since I'm probably going to get %^&* banned for saying %^&* so many fucking times, though none of you will know that it's me, so I don't even know why I'm bothering to give you that promise. I look forward to going down in history on this site as the fastest to leave this place, and I really look forward to being apart of the future that remembers UNTstormchaser as the drunken liberal atheist who called for peace, pissed everyone off by defending guys, and then left a curse-infested goodbye to all of you. Go Mean %^&* Green.

  13. Regardless of how the season has progressed or what you may think of the coaches or players, one thing is VERY clear. Next Tuesday, North Texas and the program will be getting priceless National exposure with almost no competing football competition. All students, fans and alumni need to be out in force to make a statement to the world that our program is serious and is bound for better things. A good turnout will do wonders at advancing the image of our school and our program, as well as influencing future recruits. This is something we can all contribute to!

  14. Who you beat is the most important part of the equation. Beating FAU on national TV dues nothing. Truth be told, beating LaLa won't do that much, except in head to head recruiting. Gotta beat someone that matters.

  15. I brought my family and two friends to the game. My wife and girls were entertained by the band. The director is actually pretty funny with his comments during the game. I can tell you that the sprit was high considering we were getting drilled by their offense. At least we had some exciting plays and until midway through the 3rd it looked like we had some kind of chance. That drive right ater the half gave me some hope. I am in agreeement with some here on why we stoped running around the end since they had the box stacked. Their stadium was is not much better than fouts. Concessins were a joke. That area of campus feels like a concrete city to me. Sure they will get something nice for the new design. North Texas is a much nicer campus.

  16. Again, people there appears to be a disconnect between the situation at NT and the expectations. UoH was one game from a BCS bowl with a Heisman candidate QB last year. This year they lost to a first year FBS move up. The OC who was fired had been a bad fit in organization since the day he was hired. The TXST loss was the last straw, it was NOT the first problem. He was not fired over one game but after a series of issues. Not one of those things applies to our situation. Coach Mac already has more wins in less than 1.5 seasons than Dodge had in 3.75. It's not realistic to expect a national championship team in a second year from a team that had six straight losing seasons. We now go into games expecting to win and are hurt with a loss. That is improvement right there. Lets see where we are at the end of the season, not less than half way in.

  22. Let's see.....what's the theme here...Team loses....fans call the HC stupid and discuss how they all know how to do it better. You just have to love sports. Fans are so predictable. Hey, at least we see more fans that actually show up and care these ads. That's a bit of progress right there. But, to answer the first question....YES....Coach Mac IS a good coach....and, yes, he'll get this program turned around.

  23. I have been around here 40+ years, and yes it takes time. Look at Fry's first couple of years and half the board was at aone house of worship this morning praying for his return. This coaching staff is the best we have had since then, and they deserve more than a year a half. This team is young, had minimal depth when Dodge departed and will continue to improve. Fans jumping on and off the bandwagon like fleas on a stray dog is ridiculous. They are attempting to right over 30 years of wrongs. Nobody said it was easy being a North Texas fan, but a dose of realism never hurt.

  24. No doubt in my mind he's a vastly better coach than dodge... not that that says anything. Would he have been the perfect guy to follow Dickey? I think so. Will he prove to be the miracle worker the program needed after the dodge hole? I don't think so.

  26. The mistake UNTstormchaser has made is he actually thinks Houston is good when they are not. Its not what Houston did last year its what they have done this year. And they suck. Hell we played them better last year when they were a good team, what does that tell you?

  27. Accusations and insults are the most obvious indicator of someone who doesn't actually tolerate anything. I'm fine with venting. I just think it's challenging that we are sitting here calling Mac's coaching abilities into question because he reached the previous coach's 43 game win total in week 2 of season 2, and that we're all sitting here expecting things to change overnight without a struggle and hard work having to have been put in from the players, coaches, AD, fans, etc. This isn't going to be easy. ULM, Arky State, etc., are a flash in the pan. We're building a *&^% winner here. In 15 years, we can all look back on the early Mac years as progress and as something we should have all been very pleased with. We're North Texas, not Alabama. We aren't going to beat Houston on the road very often yet. Get over it people. EDIT: Oh, and a butt bong would be awesome. Because we all know I just love it up the ass so much that getting high that way would be ideal. (Obvious sarcasm is %^&* obvious). Okay, seriously, how am I still being allowed to post?? This is %^&* ridiculous. Boot me already!!

  28. I may not agree with every thing Ma does on the field, but I definitely believe in the way he has this program going, just look at the enthusiasm he has brought to the program and those surrounding it... Turnarounds take time and I am willing to be patient. A lot of other programs may move quickly when changing their coaches but I am not a fan of that, I think it just shows how bad of a program you are if you can't stick with a coach... Just look at the top programs and tell me how often they change coaches... Coach Mac is my leader

  30. I don't think we'll have much of a choice than to get past it. If a small time mentality continually permeates a place of nearly 40,000 students, we have problems here a lot bigger than sports.

  36. We all hoped we would win this game, but deep down we know our team still has some issues. Houston is now a much better team than the one that lost to Texas State. Houston was bigger, faster, and stronger last night. We lost to a better team. It sucks, but I don't see any shame in that. I'm not happy about it, but I can live with it. Now, the Troy game still gives me the red a$$. If there is something to be frustrated about, it is the fact that last nights performance would have been good enough to beat Troy and keep our dreams of a bowl alive. The Troy loss (that never should have happened) will probably haunt this team all season. North Texas will always be my team, just like North Texas will always be my university. We will turn the corner. It just seems like it is going to take longer then many of us were hoping for. I'll be there for the ULL game, along with the other Mean Green fans.

  37. WOW...there is a lot to complain of....but really....the cheerleaders, dancers and band are great...direct your disappointment at RV, Dan, assist coaches or players...I for one have no problem with the time and effort these gals and guys devote to the MG...they are Great !

  39. Alright, you guys talked me into it. I will be the first to say it... We need to get good, and fast. I will start a slush fund to recruit good players., possibly using trans ams, camaro and/or mustangs. This also needs to include prostitutes, drugs and other novelty items, that will bring a lot more visibility. That being said, only one man can help us get to where we need to go- Ron Meyer. I know we don't want to do what SMU does, however, when it comes to fast results, no one improved like SMU back in the late 70's and early 80's. I think we can also get Bobby Collins on as an assistant or special recruiter. If we need to win, and win now, let's do it. Who's with me?

  40. So where is everyone arguing for Thompson now? I thought he just had a rough game against a great LSU team? Eat it chumps. (referring to the people who were douches, not the ones who argued civilly)

  41. Ok, I've kept my mouth shut for too long. First of all, get a life, dude. You sound quite pathetic when you have to go on another team's board to talk smack, don't you have your own? Secondly, get a life. Oh wait, I already said that. Great things are happening at NT and will continue to and I'm sure UH is making strides as well. In football, you are ahead but we all know how quickly programs can rise and fall, so please shut your mouth if you're going to sound condescending on here. Bottom line, get a life and be productive, i.e. get the heck out of here. I'm trying to be nice here, don't push it.
