Haven't seen this posted yet... North Texas: Tony Mitchell is the name everyone thinks of when this North Texas team is mentioned, and that’s fair. There aren’t a lot of lottery picks that make their way through Denton, TX. But the fact of the matter is that this program is growing around him as well. Sophomore TJ Taylor was signed by both Oklahoma and Marquette before winding up at UNT. Senior Roger Franklin started his career at Oklahoma State. Jordan Williams (So.), Chris Jones (So.) and Alzee Williams (Jr.) are all talented perimeter players with plenty of eligibility left. This program has a chance to make some noise in Conference USA when leave the Sun Belt http://collegebasketballtalk.nbcsports.com/2012/10/05/college-hoops-preview-10-programs-on-the-rise-heading-into-12-13/4 points

Coleman is absolutely massive. I saw him in the dorm yesterday for the first time, and it was honestly the first time in my life that I've felt legitimately dwarved by a person. At least when I've been next to TMitch or someone, I'm still a large enough dude to not feel tiny. But, Coleman is probably the biggest human being I've seen in person. This makes me excited for basketball season, because I don't think many teams in the Belt or otherwise on our schedule have someone as big as Coleman is. Hopefully, he's as good as advertised, because we will be nearly unstoppable with him clogging the middle and allowing Tony to float freely. I can't wait for the season to freaking start.3 points

Sounds like a pretty slick event. As for Mac, hey, if he wants to spread his money around, that's his choice and I'm glad we got a chunk of it. I'd like to see UNT on better terms with ALL alums - and even exes that didn't graduate - but I'm sure those who donate know that those of us who bleed green appreciate every bit.3 points

Screw their bathrooms. The rest stops off Interstate 45 have play grounds, ponds, air conditioning, art instillation, interactive education, hiking trails, and they're cleaner than your mom's house.... and there's an identical instillation on both sides of the road! Since when did the roadside rest stops in Texas become miniature travel resorts?2 points

Home in Haltom City Clayton George found himself in a unique position to relate to Dunbar when he arrived as Haltom’s head coach in the spring of 2006. George had just spent a couple of years as the head football coach at Dallas Hillcrest, his first head-coaching job after leaving Southlake Carroll. Hillcrest became a hub for families displaced by Hurricane Katrina. He coached several players from New Orleans and heard their stories about the storm and the tragedy that came afterward. “I still can’t imagine what they went through and what they saw,” George says. “I had heard those things before I met Lance. I kind of knew where he was coming from.” George inherited a player with unique talent as both a rusher and a receiver. Dunbar joined Haltom midway through the 2005 season and gained 640 yards and scored four touchdowns. In his one season at Haltom, George says he did everything possible to put the ball in Dunbar’s hands. That translated into 1,100 yards rushing and 14 touchdowns, along with 750 yards receiving and two more scores in 2006. George spent just one year at Haltom because, shortly after the end of the 2006 high school football season, he accepted a job as the wide receivers coach at the University of North Texas offered by his former Southlake boss, Todd Dodge. But in less than 12 months, Dunbar and George had connected on a personal level. George got to know not just Dunbar but Jones and the rest of Dunbar’s extended family. George and Dunbar still talk regularly and the family invited George to their home on the final day of the NFL Draft. George was there to watch the dream come together for the player he calls his “favorite” of any player he’s coached. Their relationship extends beyond Dunbar’s obvious talent. “Lance is quiet and humble,” George says. “He’ll open up, but he’s reserved and quiet. He’s that way but he has a great sense of humor. He’s someone that was raised well. His character and integrity are tremendous. I sound so cliché talking about him.” When George left for UNT, he told Dunbar he would come back for him. Dunbar finished off his career at Haltom in 2007 with a 1,200-yard season. Oklahoma State wanted him. Colorado wanted him. So did Virginia. But Dunbar chose North Texas. “Initially, I was going to go to Oklahoma State,” Dunbar says. “(But) I also wanted to play as a freshman. I didn’t want to sit out. I’ve always felt if you’re good enough you can make it anywhere.” So Dunbar signed with UNT, a decision that admittedly made Jones happy. She and her husband went to every game. So did Lance’s father, Lance Dunbar Sr. Denton, Texas is a heck of a lot closer to Haltom than Stillwater, Okla. And it was proof that Texas was now home. The test? The day he signed with UNT, guess who called the Mean Green’s newest recruit? LSU. “LSU was definitely the school I wanted to go to when I was down there,” Dunbar says. “They were one of my favorite schools growing up. I was a big LSU fan, but that all switched after I went to North Texas.” Making History Dunbar wanted to play right away, and he did. When he received his first start for the Mean Green, he torched Louisiana-Lafayette for 224 yards and four touchdowns. By the time he ended his UNT career, he had torn up the Mean Green record book, which was once the sole property of Patrick Cobbs. Dunbar finished with 4,224 yards, making him the program’s all-time leading rusher. Additionally, he is now UNT’s all-time leader in touchdowns (49), all-purpose yards (5,375), 100-yard rushing games (21), points (294) and rushing touchdowns (41). He was also the only Mean Green runner to have three straight 1,000-yard seasons and became just the sixth back in FBS history to compile 4,000 rushing yards and 1,000 receiving yards for a career. He earned All-Sun Belt first-team honors twice and Sports Illustrated named him honorable mention All-America twice. He ended his tenure in Denton with a crescendo. He rushed for 313 yards against Middle Tennessee in a game played in a cold, driving rain for most of the contest. That night he broke Cobbs’ career rushing mark with Cobbs in attendance. But that wasn’t enough to entice NFL teams to draft Dunbar in April. Had one done so, he would have become just the second Mean Green player to be drafted in the last 16 years. But had one done so, he might not have ended up in Dallas. Dunbar did not earn an invite to the NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis in February, so his one opportunity to impress NFL scouts came in March at the Mean Green’s pro day at Apogee Stadium. The Cowboys were among the teams in attendance, as was current UNT coach Dan McCarney. “He did a great job,” McCarney says. “He opened some eyes that day that he does have quality speed and quickness and hands.” Read More: http://www.dallascowboys.com/news/article-1/Star-Practice-Squad-RB-Has-Already-Had-Amazing-Journey-/8c2c4995-8f14-457c-b7d7-e72b29e9b39b2 points

Well, pretty good I guess....maybe a couple of hundred...should have been 500 hundred....band , cheerleaders and dancers were great...free food, free beer...I personally had a great time....I think the football players loved the support...we will be cheering them on at the game and the tailgating will be good I;m sure...went on the million dollar bus...very nice. Talked with RV...I asked him about the hotel at apogee...he said he isn't really invovled, but believes the city has signed off on it and it will be built...I believe next year...he said all the coomponents were in place....the BB facility will be done this year...Dan Smith (also at the pep rally) raised 3.5 million in one month for the BB facility....all good guys.2 points

You're right... LSU and KSTATE = Tulane and UCLA. My bad. No one here claims DT is the best QB of all time nor does anyone really think he's a top SunBelt Performer, but despite that... The offensive output by the two teams is just about the same despite you having the next (as you make it sound,) "Hiseman" winning QB. Do I think we'll win, no clue. Do I think we have what it takes? Certainly. Our defense has been playing stout enough for me to beleive that they give us a chance. It all depend on which two teams decide to show up. You really can't believe the yellow journalism H-Town has been feeding you. Hell I don't think the Writers believe what their selling. I just don't think UH is a good as YOU believe them to be. But that's why the games are played. I wish I had enough time on my hands to troll other forums. Good luck with... Your bottom.2 points

No, we didn't discuss their schedule. Just EVERY other thing related to anyone named Dodge since they took a big poop on our football program. Don't believe me? Read for yourself,..and I hope you don't have anywhere to be in the next few hours (and this isn't all of them).2 points

You know, aside from the fighting and name-calling, and of course irrelevant comparisons between Houston and the DFW/Denton regions and pro sports, there have been quite a few valid points made by the Houston guys, most of which have been made by this board's members before. Not finding UNT apparel for so long in Denton, students wearing other schools' crap to class as if it changes the school that gave them the OPPORTUNITY for an education, and often dismal turnout at games...are we so insecure that someone else repeating what we've all said gives us a wedgie or something? Until the discussion devolved into flinging poo, it was heading towards a very valid point...that moving to Conference USA, having geographically closer opponents, and a bit of control over the airwaves due to more common demographics in said games will likely assist in solving many of those problems. Exaggerations aside, we now have the opportunity to get our attendance closer to UH's, as well as our apparel and other marketing, not to mention in-state TV exposure. They got their results sooner than we did, but it doesn't change the fact that it seems to be a good choice. There's no reason to be insecure about problems we've already pointed out ourselves. The fact remains that our current course seems to be likely to resolve much of that, as the Houston guys seemed to be trying to agree with before everybody went flippin' crazy. The city/region/pro sports preferences are nearly irrelevant here. What matters is that they were actually agreeing with what many of us have always said, just in a more *ahem* competitive manner.2 points

I have spent the night in jail on 2 separate occasions, but both were for being a smartass to a cop. Imagine that, me a smartass.
