There's another D1 school in Texas that hasn't released its schedule. Coincidence, I think not. This other Texas school was was looking for a home and home starting on the road this season. They then added the stipulation that it would only be a road game if it were at a BCS AQ school (basketball BCS AQ?). The terror caused by the thought of getting destroyed at North Texas caused their team to mutiny and the coach to commit himself to the looney bin and quit.3 points

http://www.meangreensports.com/ViewArticle.dbml?DB_OEM_ID=1800&ATCLID=205696389 The article also says Creighton is coming to the Super Pit in 2014. Mark you calendars now, that's going to be awesome!2 points

Ok, now this ranking needs to be splashed on each and every promotional item the AD sends out. "Come see the Mean Green basketball team featuring Tony Mitchell, ranked the #9 player in college basketball by SBNation.com"2 points

If Thompson struggles again the same thing better be said about QB 1 for the game against Houston.2 points

Wow, just snap our fingers and move to the Big12 or SEC. Oh, and while we are at it win against those teams as well. I can't believe our AD has not thought of that plan. He should be fired.2 points

I like him a lot, but I wouldn't say easily. All 5 of our starters have played well this year, so I have a tough time pointing to one and saying he is easily better than the rest.2 points

Sigh... 1. We don't have a '12-'13 scholarship, so if he does leave Tech soon he'd have to pay his own way here this year to be eligible for the '13-'14 season 2. If he stays at Tech and transfers at the end of the '12-'13 season he has to sit out '13-'14 3. He hasn't left Texas Tech...and since he wasn't recruited by Gillispie, his dismissal/resignation doesn't leave me to believe Gotcher will. 4. And perhaps most importantly...we can do much better.2 points

Nice promotion. This has been needed. In fact, they should do it EVERY game until they sell that section out.2 points

The writer is talking about the "long-term," yet bases his entire premise on what has happened in four weeks of this season?2 points

"At this point, if drawing fans, selling tickets and winning games are the short-term goals for the Mean Green, the conference move will prove beneficial, but C-USA will not bring long-term success to the program." How on earth can this not bring long-term success to the program? Am I missing something?2 points

Someone who doesn't understand the history or perception of college athletics has no business writing that article. Such a shallow and stupid perspective.2 points

Had a lhasa one time. Belonged to my ex-wife. They are very protective, and sometimes high strung, and will bite if cornered. Ex-wife decided to bend down one night and "kiss it". Had been telling her for years: "Don't get in a dog's face. Don't do it." It was backed against a chair leg, and bit through her lower lip, tearing it in two almost down to her chin and completely through into her mouth. Emergency room. Plastic surgery. I was pissed, but resisted the urge to say those 4 words you never say to a spouse--even a stupid one. The problem with pits is that their bite is crushing, and they do not typically stop until they or what they are attacking is dead. That is why they are dangerous. Their bite is to a Lhasa's bite as a Great White is to a dogfish. If a Lhasa bites an infant, the infant will (hopefully) only get stitches and spend a day or two in the hospital. If a pit bites an infant, that infant is probably either going to be in more than one piece, or torn into tatters. That makes them more dangerous than many other breeds. While I agree with much of how Millan views pack animals, one has to keep in mind that you are not dealing with a weak-willed breed with a pit. They are strong-willed and will attack threats if not kept under control by an alpha. Dogs are animals and are not human beings.2 points

Well, a soldier accidentally killed his friend with a handgun while trying to scare the hiccups out of him. So today, it looks like it's 1-1. Maybe the real problem is people and how stupid they can be.2 points

Really smart get if true. We should get more publicity from basketball this year for North Texas athletics than ever before. Yes I said ever. We have the pre-season NIT. Plus two showdowns with two teams in Creighton and Lehigh that have other potential NBA 1st rounders. This will get scouts drooling and it's the kind of thing that gets press from ESPN etc. So excited for basketball season.2 points

And culture change includes negating/overcoming the "we live in the D/FW area and D/FW fans are all fair weather" attitude/excuse. Fans come back when they feel that they are actually a part of something. North Texas students/alumni/fans have never felt that way.2 points

We have beaten teams from big conferences at home at a decent clip in the past. We have an NBA lottery pick on our team as well as some pretty good talent around him. If I were an opposing coach from any decent mid major conference on up I would be very hesitant to come to the Pit this season. So yes, I do believe teams are afraid to play us at home. I'm disappointed that what appears to be an almost final home slate is pretty weak, but I'm willing to allow that dance partners might have been scarce. I'll still be there (probably) every game and we will still be very, um, vocal. I love the atmosphere when we are playing a "name" school, and it looks like we will miss that this season. If can build some momentum early then some of our conference games could provide some of that energy.1 point

You are one of the most vocal fans in the pit, but you really believe teams are scared to play us. Wouldn't you rather play a UTA type program rather than a "Cameron". I know of one Texas school who called Bill Foy three times asking for a game and was told no thank you. Don't know why but this was from their coach. Just asking, no rooted or alternative motives. I have edited out a part j that CBL took exception to and perhaps he was right. I will say it was NOT meant to come across as negative on my part about JJ and I certainly have no rooted negative feelings about JJ in any way. So my apologies, jumped the gun!1 point

3.7 pts and 2 rebounds in 15 minutes is easily replaceable. Aside from Gordon, I think all their major contributors return. It will be a dog fight in Bowling Green... Both times...1 point
