Heather's obituary. "In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the American Asthma Foundation." http://www.williamsfuneral.com/sitemaker/sites/Willia7/obit.cgi?user=732761VanHoozer And please contact MADD so that jackass (so many worse things I want to say) doesn't get released on bail/immigration. http://t.co/r3yDBzLs Thanks for your thoughts and prayers. I got to know Heather really well while living with Sean and she was an absolute sweetheart. Sean is like a big brother to me and I can't even begin to fathom what he's going through. Please continue sending him your thoughts and prayers on here, his twitter (@sbass1310) or by texting him if you have his number. He needs all the support he can get. God bless.9 points

Yes, we should have won the game. Look at 3 missed fgs. But Div2 or crappy team? NO..Troy is ranked 10th in the nation in passing. OK..i have a son on the team and I will always be a fan and will show up for the games. Remember, Coach Mac is in his 2nd year. Dont know how many of yall have played college football, but it is proven every week that any given team can beat any team. In both LSU and Ks St we were 3-5 plays from winning or being a one score game. If you are waiting on a 12 - 0 team to come back, then on that premise, then Michigan would never sell out their games like they do every week. Im not trying to compare UNT to MIchigan, but students show up and show up in BIG numbers EVERY GAME. Oh yea...even the game a few years ago when Div 1-AA / Appalachian state beat them...did I say that any team could beat any team??? The foundation has been poured, the frame is up...help finish the construction project. MEAN GREEN is not just the football team, the basketball team, the soccer, volleyball, band or the knitting team....MEAN GREEN IS UNT. Dont throw in the towel....WAVE THE HELL OUT OF IT!!5 points

I can? Good! Because the last few times I have tried to listen over the airwaves, 88.1 was batting about .500 in terms of actually broadcasting whatever show was going on at Rudy's. And last night, not by a radio, but tried to stream 88.1 and had no success. And what's a tape?4 points

where is the schedule? Why isn't it out. I feel like we are the only university that doesn't have their basketball schedule out!3 points

We've got one victory this season...and, it's over an FCS team. We are going to be in the C-USA next season. And, allegedly, the competition will be stiffer. I love Dan McCarney, but...we really are going to be needing some miracle/magical-type endings. Maybe like an Al Gore happy ending massage. I just don't see it. I'll enjoy seeing the likes of Southern Miss and Tulsa in the stadium for the next few year, but I gotta wonder about things. Recruiting has got to pick up in a major whey.3 points

Something positive...One of the least penalized teams in college football...One of the least sacked QBs in college football...Regardless of what the less than knowledgeable fan thinks, this team is considerably better than any Dodge led team. They play harder they're in better shape, they have giant hearts...Mac just hasn't had the time yet to recruit the hands he needs to run a passing offense. DT isn't helping when he has a game like this, but all QBs have them. Some other part of the team has to step up and the OC has to run plays that make up for QBs that're down. The special teams played better this week, it was just the head-case kicker that couldn't get it done. Kickers are like golfers; HEAD CASES. I thought the Troy coach made some hard, but fruitful decisions when his 1st QB wasn't working out. I've seen Osborn play and he might've picked us up if given the chance. It's not a knock on DT and he doesn't lose the job, but he was having a bad night and Mac should've done something about it. On the other hand, when you run up and down the field between the 25s all night long, your kicking game oughta win it for you. Defense did their job.3 points

From what I'm being told, I will be hosting a dRunk contest just before the dunk contest.3 points

We are just in the beginning of the second season under Mac. It's going to take time. And, as we all know, we have to win. I am still very hopeful for this season to be special. It starts at FAU this Saturday!3 points

When was the last time UNT won back to back road games? Because that's about to happen again.2 points

Even if you listen via the radio there will be about a dozen times that they lose the connection during the show. Maybe they should hire Harry and Evan, they seem to have a lot less technical difficulties when they stream their podcast. Or they could fire the manager of KNTU and replace him with someone who is competent.2 points

Just went to KSU game with him. He and his wife have really gone the extra mile in caring for their elderly parents in a family environment. I know that he is a great comfort to his father.2 points

People can make snarky comments about recruiting rankings all they want, but in the last ten years we have picked up exactly twenty one three stars and four four star ranked recruits. All of those four stars were from JUCOS. So in the last DECADE we haven't been able to pick up a four star kid from high school. Our recruiting classes have averaged out to about 102nd in the nation during that period, why in the world are we expecting mid 60s (or higher) finishes on the field? Yes, I know ranking aren't perfect, not every player lives up/down to his ranking, but I think in the long run they are a good measure of success. I would KILL to have a 4* like Mike Pruitt terrorizing opposing centers and guards. We all go to the games and love it, but this is college football, the real winning and losing happens during recruiting season. With the new stadium, student fee, conference change, etc, I think Coach Mac has a chance to turn this all around. But we have got to start winning in living rooms, once we do that we will win on the field.2 points

We're gonna smack FAU around. You'll all be back saying we'll finish undefeated. The overall product we're watching right now is far better than anything we've seen since the early 2000s, but it's far from perfect. Just calm down.2 points

Did not catch the coach's show, but the cliff notes version of today's McCarney game recap with Hank was pretty similar to post game: Happy with crowd that showed up Thought defense played well. Held Troy under averages across the board Concerns again with special teams. All about mental toughness. Special team struggles (again) impacted decisions late in the game Winners transfer performace from practice field to game. Not happening enough. Need better job of translating yards to points FAU similar to UNT, new stadium, new staff, increased expectations UNT/FAU 2 of 4 teams that have played 2 teams in top 10 so far this year We are not working as hard as we are just to lose games Marcus Smith (TE) probably out for year Andrew Power (TE) awaiting MRI Sarge Mccoy (DE) probably back this week2 points

I have to agree....UNT was on a roll , even with losses..but they were showing they were tough and could play with the big guys...then they look like total crap in front of the home crowd...I never leave games early..just couldn't take it any more...hit the exits early in 4th qtr...spent a lot of time and money to come see this game from Houston....it was a bore and money poorly spent...last game in Denton for me this year...offense was terrible...looks like a TD team with same BS excuses after game...I will go to the Houston game since Im in Houston....but this program has been down sooooooo long, hard to take a loss when it was sooooo pathetic....just pathetic.2 points

If he can get the OL players in here and enough good defenders to coach up the defense that is a good start. I think there are plenty enough good RBs and WRs around that we will be good in that dept. However, we HAVE to get stud QB here. You can't work around that.2 points

Makes me laugh that an honest question garnered a -2 vote. So, how many members are currently in the Talons and what do they do? Honestly, I have not seen any of them, or they are just blending in with the other students. I'm not trying to flame this group, just really would like to know.2 points

Newsflash: we're not a good football team and we haven't BEEN a good football team in a really long time. And we're apparently the only people that don't know that. Celebrating good losses is loser-speak. No one remembers, nor cares about what our team "almost" did that one time. But this is still MY team. And I believe in this coach and his staff, and I haven't been able to say that for as long as I've followed UNT football. We are only four games into the second year with McCarney! There's more recruiting, teaching, and learning to be done. Yeah, it's a tough loss. And yeah, it sucks. But we move on. We've got a pair of great opportunities to get back to .500 and make something of this season. See errrbody in Houston.2 points

No, the biggest problem facing the program is losing games. Everyone (players, coaches, fans) feel like they have been kicked in the nuts after a lost like that. We'll spring back after we walk it off. Until then it still hurts.2 points

I am the biggest UNT fan there is. However, going forward from this game will be tough for the rest of us students. I'll be there regardless, but other students WILL NOT show up to future games if our team continues to look like what they did tonight. We're so close to having this student fan base show up in consistent numbers, such a shame what happened tonight. Gonna be hard to look good on ESPN2..1 point

Purely a gut feeling, but outside of offensive linemen and over-achieving small schools defenders I just don't think he can get them here.1 point

I happen to not believe Mac will be able to recruit at the level needed for North Texas to thrive in Conference USA... and if I'm wrong I'll take my lumps. Here's to wishing many lumps upon myself.1 point

Or, play defensive tackle? At what point are we allowed to point out that we aren't getting "highly rated" players? This was a point people made about the majority Dickey and Dodge's recruits. Does it seem like things have changed all that much so far? Don't misconstrue this as a knock on the recruit. My point is just this - because the level of recruit is about the same as we were getting under Dickey and Dodge, we'll see with McCarney whether or not coaching matters down here in the lower FBS programs that are trying to grow up. McCarney will sign his third class in February, and we will move into a new conference on July 1, 2013. We need bigger, better, faster, stronger...except against Memphis and UAB...and Tulane.1 point

Wow, horrible news. Prayers go out to him and the family. If anyone finds out information on ways the Mean Green family can help (donations for funeral costs/hospital bills, etc.), will someone post here?1 point

If UNT had consistent fan support, they'd see how consistently bad this team has been since 2004. It's amazing any fans are showing up. I still have some hope McCarney turns it around, but that's all we have at this point -- hope. The team is 1-3 and still has to play Houston on the road.1 point
-
No way you can expect fans to drive up from Houston to watch that kind of performance every week. I highly doubt houstonmeangreen is going to quit going to UNT games forever, but I totally understand his attitude, and fans like him (who drive up to Denton from Houston) are DEFINITELY NOT the problem.1 point
-
It was a pitiful night...no real enthusiasm from the team,(except the defense) who walked through the game. It will take FAU and Houston wins to get the interest back.1 point
-
Nailed it. This was a better than expected turnout from the students from me which tells me you are right, we are close to consistency. But this one will make it wait till next year. They might be back by USA if we have run the table in the games in between.1 point
-
If you didn't notice a large percentage of students didn't stay around to see NT lose. Unlike the TSU game were most stayed to the end, it looked like about half were gone by the fourth quarter. I guess it supports the theory that the students don't care who the opponent is. as long as it is an easy victory.1 point
-
A 14-7 loss against a terrible team at home in an absolute bore of an exhibition in which UNT was completely inept in all but one facet of the game. Student attendance will certainly drop.1 point
-
And I think it has to do with more than the fact that we lost. We gave this one away, and it was like we didn't even care. It's on the coaches and players now to renew interest by whupping the snot out of FAU and Houston before our big matchup with ULL.1 point
